Hello everyone and welcome to Klaipėda district, the outskirts of Klaipėda city, but definitely not boring!
I visited this region many times and the footage in this video is actually from a few different trips. One of the days I was really unlucky with the weather, but that didn't stop me from filming 😁
There is so much to do in Klaipėda district - from the most popular sights like Olando kepurė (Dutchman's cap), Seaside Regional Park and Karklė, Dreverna resorts, to plenty of water activities, like kite surfing, sailing and more. The historical sights also weren't forgotten - Memel Nord bunker, Priekulė town and more.
Also special thanks to my sister, for some footage and pictures from her stay in Dreverna resort, which she really fell in love with during the summer.

Traveling to furthest corner of Lithuania | Skuodas
We're back in Samogitia region again - Skuodas was a fun place to visit for someone who is stones enthusiast 😁 While quite a small and remote place, a trip to Skuodas was worthwhile for Mosėdis and Vaclovas Intas stone museum, Apuolė Senoji Įpiltis hill forts and Barstyčiai stone - all of these can be easily visited in one day when passing by in the region.

Visiting Klaipėda, Lithuania | Travel guide by a Lithuanian
Hello everyone and welcome to Klaipėda, the third largest city and the only port in Lithuania.
It is great to visit during the sea festival in summer, but it won't disappoint you on other days either with all the sights there are to see. From the most famous sea museum and dolphinarium at the Curonian Spit to Klaipėda's German style old town and beaches at the edge of the city.
p.s. I filmed this a few months back during the sea festival, before having my haircut, so I might look a bit odd after watching my more recent videos 😄

Travel to Mažeikiai - remote Samogitian land in Lithuania | Travel guide
Welcome Mažeikiai district, Lithuania, one of the furthest places to go to from Vilnius. It's worth getting there, as the district has plenty of interesting sights to see: the only in Lithuania Gramophone museum, authentic XIX century pharmacy - museum, the home of the pioneer of Lithuanian aviation, the beautiful Renavas manor house and much more!
Mažeikiai district really impressed me, even though it was so far to drive to. It took me 2 days to see all the sights and I think it would be a great addition to a trip through Samogitia, combined with the nearby Akmenė district or Samogitia capital Telšiai.

Kretinga, Lithuania
Kretinga, Lithuania Kretinga is a town in Klaipėda County, Lithuania. It is the capital of the Kretinga district municipality and located 12 km (7.5 mi) east of the popular Baltic Sea resort town of Palanga, and about 25 km (16 mi) north of Lithuania's 3rd largest city and principal seaport, Klaipėda. It is part of the historic Memelland.
Kretinga is one of the oldest known towns in Lithuania. It was first mentioned in 1253 as castle of Cretyn under the charter of Bishop Heinrich of Courland. The town prospered during the 19th century as part of the Russian Empire. In 1882 the first telephone line in Lithuania connected Kretinga with Plungė and Rietavas. During World War I, the Germans built a railway line connecting Bajorai, Kretinga, and the Latvian city of Priekule. In 1924 Kretinga regained its municipal rights. Kretinga gained greater importance after another railway line was built in 1932 that connected it to Šiauliai.
During the first Soviet occupation, under the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact, a reign of terror resulted in local residents being arrested and, in some cases, executed without trial or deported to Siberia. A local lawyer, Vladas Petronaitis, was arrested and ultimately tortured to death by the Soviet intelligence agency. During World War II, the Nazi occupation saw the elimination of Kretinga's Jewish population. In June 1941, German forces and Lithuanian collaborators took about 200 Jewish men and some Lithuanian communist activists to a forest outside the town and shot them in pits that some of the Jewish men had been forced to dig. Several more mass shootings including women and children took place in July at the Kretinga Jewish cemetery. The Soviet occupation in 1945 led to further reductions in the population as refugees fled to the west and many of those trapped were deported to Siberia.
The local economy stagnated under Soviet occupation, which forcibly collectivized the farms in the area. It became an economic backwater. Since Lithuania's independence in 1990, the town has made a recovery. Kretinga hosts folk music festivals, theatricals, the Kretinga Festival, celebrations on Midsummer Night's Eve (Joninės) and Mardi Gras (Užgavėnės), and a Manorial Feast. The Manor House is now a museum housing artistic and archeological collections and a restaurant in the adjacent greenhouse, called The Winter Garden. A Cambrian geothermal reservoir underlies the area, and the Vydmantai powerplant exploiting this resource is being built nearby.

Join me for a wonderful 10 days exploring Lithuania including Vilnius, Palanga, Klaipeda, Trakai and Kretinga on a fantastic summer holiday. It's practically a movie - there is so much to share with you! Several days in the capital city of Vilnius enjoying its historical and cultural heritage. It's such a beautiful city, packed with sights and experiences and the locals are friendly and welcoming. We take a day trip to ancient Trakai to see its stunning castle on the lake. After a few days we travel by train from one end of Lithuania to the other to visit the coastal port city of Klaipeda - again so much to see and enjoy and learn about the history and many cultural influences which have shaped the city we see today. It has a quaint old town, vast beaches and a buzzy nightlife with restaurants and bars on its riverside. From Klaipeda its a short distance to Lithuania's largest beach resort - the lovely destination of Palanga. More lovely beaches and lots of nature with lush forests to walk and cycle and a lively main street packed with entertainment and eating options. We also take a look at the famous Amber Museum. Finally we visit the smaller, more traditional town of Kretinga to see a slower way of life and again enjoy its history and natural beauty. I hope my comprehensive guide gives you the inspiration to plan a trip to this beautiful and hospitable country! There are lamas, sheep and other animals. After walk around you can relax at the restaurant that serves Lithuanian food. Also there is a hotel if you would like to stay longer.

Здесь часто проводятся семинары, тренинги и деловые переговоры, участники которых – бизнесмены и сотрудники крупных компаний. У гостей отеля есть выбор вариантов жилья: стандартные комнаты для двоих; роскошные апартаменты для больших семей; овальные домики для молодоженов; дома, стоящие на берегу речки и рассчитанные на разное количество посетителей; молодежный дом; клеть в старинном стиле. Sodyba ,,Vienkiemis'' Площадь деревни - 2 гектара (общая площадь усадьбы - 7 гектар). Всего тут 50 гномов и 10 строений. Раньше, когда возвращали земли владельцам - этот участок никто не хотел брать. Тут неровная местность для выгула скота. Поэтому эта земля с горкой не использовалась. В 2012 году, что-бы место не пустовало, хозяин туристической усадьбы решил сделать детскую площадку. Дома сделаны из дерева, в них можно зайти детям. Есть школа с партами, церковь, мельница, лесопилка и две сторожевые обзорные башни, сделанные по старинной технологии без единого гвоздя! А финальный босс , стоящий на горе и присматривающий за гномами - великан Гулливер! Для деревни специально вырыт пруд и с него пустили маленький ручей для деревушки. Цель затеи - в лёгкой форме показать детям жизнь деревни и самим поучаствовать в ней. Например посидеть за партами в школе, полежать на кровати в доме гномика (на видео не заходил в такой домик) и увидеть старинную печь в пекарне. Стоимость деревни 58000 евро. Которые были выиграны в Европейском фонде по поддержке развития деревней. Скульптуры выполнил один мастер. Домики - местные мастера. Зимой гномиков убирают под крышу. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Как вы думаете, какое место среди крупнейших частных оранжерей Европы XIX в. досталось зимнему саду Кретингского поместья? Город Кретинга в XVII в. был основан Яном Каролем Ходкевичем – тем самым жемайтийским старостой и верховным главнокомандующим войск ВКЛ, который в бою под Саласпилсом в 1605 г. разгромил армию шведского короля Кароля IX и удивил всю Европу. В 1875 г. граф Юозапас Тышкевич приобрел Кретингское поместье и основал здесь семейную резиденцию, а город прославил на всю Литву. Не где-то в другом месте, а именно в Кретинге была открыта первая в Литве гидроэлектростанция, проведена первая в Литве телефонная линия и разбит зимний сад – крупнейшая в Европе частная оранжерея (стало быть, ей досталось не пятое и не седьмое, а первое место). Графская дочь Мария Тышкявичюте в 1898 г. в Кретинге открыла первый литовский детский сад. В 1908 г. граф Александр Тышкевич одним из первых литовских помещиков купил во Франции спортивный автомобиль. Графы коллекционировали произведения искусства, охотничьи трофеи, нумизматические и другие ценности, держали в поместье оркестр. Когда в межвоенное время в Литве проводилась земельная реформа, Тышкевичи лишились части земель поместья, но не опустили рук. У них было предприятие по производству масла «Oelit“, мастерские по производству конфет, меда и сиропа «Šatrija», другие предприятия малой промышленности. Во время Второй мировой войны, когда стала приближаться советская армия, последний кретингский помещик уехал в Германию. В настоящее время об оранжерее и других постройках кретингского поместья заботится Кретингский музей, насчитывающий более 70 000 экспонатов. Самое посещаемое место музея — зимний сад с 5 000 растений (около 580 экзотических видов). Этот один из популярнейших музеев Литвы посещает более 120 000 человек в год.
