Nemrut Kalderası'na, Bitlis’in Tatvan ve Ahlat ilçelerinden iki farklı yoldan ulaşılabilmektedir. Tatvan’dan Nemrut Krater Gölü’nün mesafesi 20 km., Ahlat’tan ise 25 km’dir. Burayı ziyaret etmek isteyenlere Tatvan yolunu (Bu yolu) kullanmalarını öneririm. Tatvan yolunun Nemrut Kayak Merkezi'ne kadar olan bölümü asfalt diğer bölümü taş döşemdir. Zamanla taş döşemeli yolun bazı kesimleri hasar gördüğünden bu bölümlerde dikkatli olunuz! Ahlat yolu ise stabilize olup bazı bölümleri küçük araçlar için riskli olabilir!
Nemrut Kalderası tabanının batı yarısı göl ile kaplıdır. Nemrut Kalderası'nda deniz seviyesinden 2.247 m yükseklikte ikisi devamlı, üçü mevsimlik olmak üzere beş göl bulunmaktadır. Nemrut göllerinin en büyük olanı yarım ay şeklindeki Nemrut Gölü’dür. Gölün ortalama derinliği 100 m civarındadır. Gölün kuzey batı kenarındaki bir noktada 175 m. derinlik ölçülmüştür. Alınan su örneklerinde suyun renksiz, kokusuz, içme suyu lezzetinde olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Nemrut Gölü'nün görünür bir dışa akışı yoktur.

KOCAELİ ARKEOLOJİ VE ETNOGRAFYA MÜZESİ
Kocaeli ili İzmit İlçesi Kozluk Mahallesi İstasyon Caddesi üzerinde bulunan Eski Gar Alanı 21 dönüm olup planı Alman Otto Ritter tarafından çizilmiş 1873-1910 tarihleri arasında alan içindeki yapılar inşa edilmiştir. 2007 yılından beri Kocaeli halkına Müze olarak hizmet vermektedir.
Eski Gar ve Ambar Binaları bir bütün halinde değerlendirilmiş, restorasyon çalışmaları tamamlanarak, Eski Gar Binası Kocaeli Kültür Varlıklarını Koruma Bölge Kurulu olarak hizmet vermektedir.
Arkeoloji ve Etnoğrafya Müzesi olarak hizmet veren alan içinde Tamir Atölyesi, Su Deposu, Lojman Binası yer almaktadır. İki adet Tekel Deposu birleştirilerek (Arkeolojik ve Etnografik eseler için) teşhir salonları oluşturulmuştur. Arkeoloji ve Etnoğrafya Müzesinde Paleolitik, Helenistik, Roma, Bizans ve Osmanlı dönemlerine ait eserler sergilenmektedir.
Müzeye giriş ücreti 10 TL olup , müze kartı olanlar ücret ödemeden ziyaret edebilir.
