Sophienholm day trip in greater Copenhagen (21.09.2019) Vlog #10
On the last hottest weekend in Denmark last summer, we went to visit Sophienholm in Kongens Lyngby.
Sophienholm is a former manor house and exhibition venue located north on the shore of Lake Bagsværd in Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality in the northern outskirts of Copenhagen, Denmark.
The main building was originally a country home built in 1769 by Johan Theodor Holmskiold who named the house after his wife Sophie Holmskjold. Its next owner, Constantin Brun, had it completely rebuilt at the turn of the 19th century into its present appearance, and it became a lively cultural venue during the Danish Golden Age when his wife, the writer and salonist Friederike Brun, played host to many prominent Danish and foreign cultural figures of the time. - Wikipedia

MAP OF COPENHAGEN DENMARK
salutations my friends. this is a map of Copenhagen Denmark. Copenhagen is part of the Øresund Region, which consists of Zealand, Lolland-Falster and Bornholm in Denmark and Scania in Sweden. It is located on the eastern shore of the island of Zealand, partly on the island of Amager and on a number of natural and artificial islets between the two. Copenhagen faces the Øresund to the east, the strait of water that separates Denmark from Sweden, and which connects the North Sea with the Baltic Sea. The Swedish towns of Malmö and Landskrona lie on the Swedish side of the sound directly across from Copenhagen. By road, Copenhagen is 42 kilometres northwest of Malmö, Sweden, 85 kilometres northeast of Næstved, 164 kilometres northeast of Odense, 295 kilometres east of Esbjerg and 188 kilometres southeast of Aarhus by sea and road via Sjællands Odde. excuse me. please comment about Copenhagen. continuing.
The city centre lies in the area originally defined by the old ramparts, which are still referred to as the Fortification Ring (Fæstningsringen) and kept as a partial green band around it. Then come the late-19th- and early-20th-century residential neighbourhoods of Østerbro, Nørrebro, Vesterbro and Amagerbro. The outlying areas of Kongens Enghave, Valby, Vigerslev, Vanløse, Brønshøj, Utterslev and Sundby followed from 1920 to 1960. They consist mainly of residential housing and apartments often enhanced with parks and greenery.
The central area of the city consists of relatively low-lying flat ground formed by moraines from the last ice age while the hilly areas to the north and west frequently rise to 50 m above sea level. The slopes of Valby and Brønshøj reach heights of over 30 m, divided by valleys running from the northeast to the southwest. Close to the centre are the Copenhagen lakes of Sortedams Sø, Peblinge Sø and Sankt Jørgens Sø. thats all for now. thanks for listening. please subscribe for the best maps and for the love of Copenhagen. goodbye. #mapschool #mapsolo #maps #mapas #kort #copenhagen #copenhagendenmark #copenhaguen

Things To Do in Copenhagen - Travel Guide
There are so many things to do In Copenhagen so our travel guide will break down everything you need to know about this great city from the weather and metro, to the top attractions and travelling to Copenhagen with kids.
Before visiting Copenhagen you'll need to know some basics so we'll start with covering off some weather averages, how to get yourself from the airport to the city centre and details on how to use both the Copenhagen metro and their S train, particularly in terms of using their DOT app.
One of the main attractions and top of the list of things to do in Copenhagen is a visit to Tivoli gardens. It's the 5th most popular theme park in Europe so we'll explain how to get there and the cost of tickets.
Second on your list of things to do in Copenhagen is a visit to both the little mermaid statue in Langelinie and then a trip to see the statue of her creator, Hans Christian Anderson by the city hall. We'll explain what to expect and where exactly both are located.
Next on our Copenhagen Travel guide is to detail a trip to Nyhavn (New Harbour) and to illustrate what to expect from this beautiful area of the city and the meaning behind the large anchor positioned at the very top of the harbour.
Another core attraction and a great thing to do when visiting Copenhagen is to check out their parliament buildings, Christiansborg Palace. You can pay to see the areas of the palace devoted to the royal family such as the lavish reception rooms, but can also join a free tour of the government offices. They're located on castle island (Slotsholem).
If you want a great view over the city during a visit then check out the round tower, standing 35 meters high and accessible via a long ramp and 60 steps, it's quite reasonable in terms of cost and we'll explain how to find it.
Stroget is the main shopping district in Copenhagen and if you want a break from the many attractions then head to this kilometre stretch of shops and restaurants.
One of the most unusual things to do in Copenhagen is a visit to Christiania. It's a commune in the middle of the city and is a fascinating place to explore. It has a very hippy, alternative vibe, was formed back in 1971 and has become one of the biggest attractions in the city and one not to miss.
We'll finish the travel guide by detailing what to expect from the National Museum of Denmark, how much it costs and where it's located and then a quick summary of the Copenhagen Hop On Hop Off bus and again, the costs involved and what to expect from the three routes they offer.
We like to focus part of our travel guides on things to do outside of the city, so in this guide we'll explore the Swedish city of Malmo and Denmarks third biggest city Odense. Our travel guide will detail how to get to Malmo via the famous Oresund bridge, how long it takes and what to expect when you get there. Finally we'll also do the same for Odense, a lovely little city made famous for being the birthplace of Hans Christian Anderson.
With so many things to do in Copenhagen, you'll soon get hungry, so the next part of our Travel Guide details some Danish food delicacies and the Danish love of Smorrebrod.
We travel extensively with our kids so our travel guides will not only detail all the things to do for adults but also list some ideas when visiting Copenhagen with kids. In our Copenhagen Travel guide we'll explore Bakken, the city aquarium and Copenhagen Zoo. Our guide will show you where to find each attraction and how much each will cost both adult and child.

The short sail in Lyngby
Kongens Lyngby is the main city in the affluent Danish municipality of Lyngby-Taarbæk. Just north of Copenhagen, the city lies in the northern part of Denmark's largest island, Zealand. The city has two districts: Lyngby (east of Lyngby station) and Ulrikkenborg (west of the station) and a wonderful little canal that we rowed last week.
Enjoy!
Experimentarium in Hellerup, Denmark, a great experience for both adults and kids!
We decided to spend a day at the super cool hands on science museum in Hellerup, Denmark called Experimentarium. Only about 20 minutes north of Copenhagen, it is a great half day trip for the family. Kids will spend some energy while parents equally have fun. It is well organized, clean, with precautions taken against Covid. I was impressed with how much we all enjoyed the day while also feeling safe. I would highly recommend!!

Copenhagen, Denmak 🇩🇰 walking tour
Copenhagen is the capital and most populous city of Denmark. As of 1 January 2022, the city had a population of 805,402 (644,431 in Copenhagen Municipality, 103,608 in Frederiksberg Municipality, 42,723 in Tårnby Municipality, and 14,640 in Dragør Municipality). It forms the core of the wider urban area of Copenhagen (population 1,336,982) and the Copenhagen metropolitan area (population 2,057,142). Copenhagen is situated on the eastern coast of the island of Zealand; another portion of the city is located on Amager, and it is separated from Malmö, Sweden, by the strait of Øresund. The Øresund Bridge connects the two cities by rail and road.
Originally a Viking fishing village established in the 10th century in the vicinity of what is now Gammel Strand, Copenhagen became the capital of Denmark in the early 15th century. Beginning in the 17th century, it consolidated its position as a regional centre of power with its institutions, defences, and armed forces. During the Renaissance the city served as the de facto capital of the Kalmar Union, being the seat of monarchy, governing the majority of the present day Nordic region in a personal union with Sweden and Norway ruled by the Danish monarch serving as the head of state. The city flourished as the cultural and economic center of Scandinavia under the union for well over 120 years, starting in the 15th century up until the beginning of the 16th century when the union was dissolved with Sweden leaving the union through a rebellion. After a plague outbreak and fire in the 18th century, the city underwent a period of redevelopment. This included construction of the prestigious district of Frederiksstaden and founding of such cultural institutions as the Royal Theatre and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. After further disasters in the early 19th century when Horatio Nelson attacked the Dano-Norwegian fleet and bombarded the city, rebuilding during the Danish Golden Age brought a Neoclassical look to Copenhagen's architecture. Later, following the Second World War, the Finger Plan fostered the development of housing and businesses along the five urban railway routes stretching out from the city centre.
Since the turn of the 21st century, Copenhagen has seen strong urban and cultural development, facilitated by investment in its institutions and infrastructure. The city is the cultural, economic and governmental centre of Denmark; it is one of the major financial centres of Northern Europe with the Copenhagen Stock Exchange. Copenhagen's economy has seen rapid developments in the service sector, especially through initiatives in information technology, pharmaceuticals and clean technology. Since the completion of the Øresund Bridge, Copenhagen has become increasingly integrated with the Swedish province of Scania and its largest city, Malmö, forming the Øresund Region. With a number of bridges connecting the various districts, the cityscape is characterised by parks, promenades, and waterfronts. Copenhagen's landmarks such as Tivoli Gardens, The Little Mermaid statue, the Amalienborg and Christiansborg palaces, Rosenborg Castle, Frederik's Church, Børsen and many museums, restaurants and nightclubs are significant tourist attractions.
Copenhagen is home to the University of Copenhagen, the Technical University of Denmark, Copenhagen Business School and the IT University of Copenhagen. The University of Copenhagen, founded in 1479, is the oldest university in Denmark. Copenhagen is home to the football clubs F.C. Copenhagen and Brøndby IF. The annual Copenhagen Marathon was established in 1980. Copenhagen is one of the most bicycle-friendly cities in the world.
Movia is the public mass transit company serving all of eastern Denmark, except Bornholm. The Copenhagen Metro, launched in 2002, serves central Copenhagen. Additionally, the Copenhagen S-train, the Lokaltog (private railway), and the Coast Line network serve and connect central Copenhagen to outlying boroughs. Serving roughly 2.5 million passengers a month, Copenhagen Airport, Kastrup, is the busiest airport in the Nordic countries.
