S1 – Ep 321 – Kirkwood – Immediately Charmed by the Beautiful Scenery!
As we embarked on our drive to Kirkwood, we were immediately charmed by the beautiful scenery. As we reached the outskirts of the town, our attention was drawn to a remarkable spot known as The Lookout. From its elevated position, we were treated to a breathtaking panoramic view of the entire valley, leaving us in awe of nature's grandeur. As we made our way into town, the atmosphere became bustling and vibrant, busy with activity from the ongoing citrus-picking and road construction. However, amidst the chaos, Kirkwood revealed its true charm. We couldn't help but admire the beauty of the town, particularly evident at the inviting bowling green and the Golf Club, adding a touch of elegance to the overall picturesque setting. #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #southafricavlog #travelongravel #easterncape #kirkwood

Sitrusoewer River Camp, Kirkwood. HD/4K Cinematic
Area video of our weekend breakaway to Sitrusoewer River Camp, Kirkwood. One of my favourite spots to visit, also a favourite drone spot! Had to look far and wide for a single orange hanging in a tree as November is after citrus season. We had some happy campers enjoying some catch and release fishing in the Sundays River. This was filed with my DJI Phantom 3 Professional drone and Canon M10.

Melissa D.'s Review on The Dyrt:
▶︎ Kirkwood lake campground
A little pricey but nice hidden away campsites. The older gentleman that runs the site is wonderful.

Eastern Cape Highlands, South Africa
Some footage from the Eastern Cape Highlands in South Africa. This was of tributaries of the Kraai River, Orange River system. Some images from the Bokspruit (0:52), Bell River (3:31) and Upper Kraai (4:07) in the clips. Some beautiful clear water in the Bokspruit. I have only caught small fish in this area, but there are some bigger ones around - I just have to learn how to get them! Trout (1:51) and Smallmouth Yellowfish (4:24) shown in the clips, I think this may be the first interactions between the species recorded.
Some volume warning around 4:00 was very windy!

South Africa Travel
South Africa Travel - If you want to travel in southern Africa then South Africa is a good place to start. While you can fly into any country in southern Africa, most flights will route through South Africa anyway. South Africa is also a good place to get used to travelling in the region (though some would argue that Namibia is better for that). Of course South Africa is not only a jumping off point, it is itself a superb destination rich in culture, fauna, flora and history.
Outsiders' views of South Africa are coloured by the same stereotypes as the rest of Africa. Contrary to popular belief, South Africa is not devastatingly poor with an unstable government. Although the rural part of South Africa remains among the poorest and the least developed parts of the world and poverty in the townships can be appalling, progress is being made. The process of recovering from apartheid, which lasted almost 46 years, is quite slow. In fact, South Africa's United Nations Human Development Index which was slowly improving in the final years of apartheid, has declined dramatically since 1996, largely due to the AIDS pandemic, and poverty levels appear to be on the increase. South Africa boasts a well-developed infrastructure and has all the modern amenities and technologies, much of it developed during the years of white minority rule. The government is stable, although corruption is common. The government and the primary political parties generally have a high level of respect for democratic institutions and human rights.

#Shongweni67 Paddle 2020
#Shongweni67 finished! Brutal day, but worth it. 67km paddled in 9 hours. We started paddling before first light in the morning, and I beat the sun before it dissapeared behind the iconic Shongweni mountain - I call that a win!
A total of 170km paddled in 10 days for the Ultra Paddle - 70km to go to get silver.
On completing the #Shongweni67, you don’t receive a medal, but a Jar of Hope. The Jar of Hope you randomly give to someone on your way home. The old man that received the Jar of Hope was more than ecstatic and grateful. Every challenge or race should implement this concept.
