Ipswich is the county town of Suffolk, England, located on the estuary of the River Orwell, about 60 miles north east of London. Ipswich has been continuously occupied since the Saxon period, and its port has been one of England's most important for the whole of its history.
Ipswich is a non-metropolitan district. The urban development of Ipswich overspills the borough boundaries significantly, with 75% of the town's population living within the borough at the time of the 2011 Census, when it was the fourth-largest urban area in the United Kingdom's East of England region, and the 42nd largest urban area in England and Wales.
The Ipswich docks area (the waterfront) is now devoted primarily to leisure use and includes extensive recent development of residential apartment blocks and a university campus. Holywells is the area around Holywells Park, a 67-acre (27 ha) public park situated near the docks, and the subject of a painting by Thomas Gainsborough. Chantry is a housing estate and park to the town's south-west.
Districts outside the town centre include Bixley Farm, Broke Hall, California, Castle Hill, The Dales, Gainsborough, Greenwich, Kesgrave (which is actually a separate town situated in Suffolk Coastal District), Maidenhall, Pinewood, Priory Heath, Racecourse, Ravenswood (built on a former airfield), Rose Hill, Rushmere, Springvale, St Margarets, Stoke, Warren Heath, Westbourne, Whitehouse and Whitton. To the east of the town is Trinity Park near Bucklesham the home of the annual Suffolk Show, a typical county show.
Ipswich's sole professional association football club is Ipswich Town, which was established in 1878 and, as of 2015, plays in the second-tier Football League Championship at the 30,300-capacity Portman Road stadium.

While I was out with my friend scouting a music video location (here we had the sea defence forts from the war) I couldn't help staring out at the setting sun and thinking that it looked beautiful.
I quickly jumped into my camera bag and threw the dji mavic 2 pro drone up for about half an hour (completely distracted from the real task at hand and losing light fast) to capture this scene.
I didn't realise this place was practically on my doorstep and it was a real surprise.
This was one of the first times I used my drone and the video is a bit choppy/jerky but I seem to have fixed that in other videos.
Trying hard to get as much flight time in as possible with the dji Mavic 2 Pro drone and making as many videos as possible.
I hope you enjoy these videos. If you do please 'like' and 'subscribe' as it would really mean a lot to me.
Thank you

KIRTON: East Suffolk Parish #4 of 177
As we start to move further away from Felixstowe, the landscape starts to change somewhat on the Colneis Hundred. The cliffs and the sea become less of a thing, and the open rural nature of this part of Suffolk becomes much more the main focus. In these next two parishes, the farmland and the River Deben are the main focus points.
This one has a lovely little church and church hall set away from the main village. The hall is shared with the neighbouring parish, as are most of the amenities within the village. There’s an enormous recreation ground here, pretty amazing given the size of the settlement, complete with a pavilion that was opened by Joe Royle.
In the village centre there’s a pub (and yes, panic buying the beer is recommended!) and a village green, which has a handy map of the area around both the villages. Plenty of footpaths criss cross the terrain, including some that work their way out towards the neighbouring villages of Hemley and Bucklesham.
One thing that struck me as being quite cool though was Viking Works – a small building right in the centre which makes and supplies magnetic components for both domestic use and industrial use, including the military! Quite a feat for a village of this small size.
We had a nice little meander around this quiet rural corner of East Suffolk and if you come here, you should too. It’s worth it. This is KIRTON.

Ipswich, Suffolk 🏴 | 2023 [4K]
A early morning stroll through the historic market town of Ipswich, Suffolk.

Ipswich is a town and borough in Suffolk, England, of which it is the county town. The town is located in East Anglia about 9.9 mi (16 km) away from the mouth of the River Orwell and the North Sea.
The town is the third-largest population centre in East Anglia (after Norwich which is 40 mi (64 km) to the north, and Peterborough which is 70 mi (112 km) to the north-west). The town is both on the Great Eastern Main Line railway and the A12 road; it is 67 mi (108 km) north-east of London. The Ipswich built-up area is the fourth-largest in East of England region and the 42nd in England and Wales. It includes the towns of Kesgrave, Woodbridge, Bramford and Martlesham Heath.
First recorded during the medieval period as Gippeswic, the town has also been recorded as Gyppewicus and Yppswyche. The town has been occupied continuously since the Saxon period, and is contested to be one of the oldest towns in the United Kingdom. The settlement was of great economic importance to the Kingdom of England throughout its history, particularly in trade, with the town's historical dock (Ipswich Waterfront) known as the largest and most important dock in the kingdom.
The town is divided into various quarters, with the town centre and the waterfront drawing the most footfall. The town centre is home to the town's retail shopping and the historic town square, the Cornhill. The waterfront is located south of the town centre on a meander of the River Orwell and is a picturesque setting housing the town's marina. The waterfront is a trendy area of the town housing luxury yachts, and lined with high-rise apartment buildings, restaurants and cafés. The waterfront is also home to the University of Suffolk campus.
Ipswich is surrounded by two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB): the Suffolk Coast and Heaths and Dedham Vale. The town has a tourist sector with 3.5 million people reported to have visited the town in 2016. In 2020, Ipswich was ranked as an emerging global tourist destination by TripAdvisor.
