Kyrgyzstan (Кыргызстан) is a country defined by its natural beauty. Unspoilt mountainscapes, bare ridges and rolling pastures are brought to life by semi-nomadic, yurt-dwelling shepherds. With well-developed network of homestays and visa-free travel, and it's easy to see why Kyrgyzstan, is the gateway of choice for many travelers in Central Asia.

Cities
Bishkek — the national capital and largest city by far. Cholpon Ata— a resort area on the northern shore of Issyk Kul lake Balykchy — the western gateway to Lake Issyk Kul. Jalal-Abad — a good bet for visiting a Ferghana Valley town, as it is significantly safer and easier to get to than Osh or destinations further southwest. Karakol — a gem at the remote east end of Issyk Kul. Kochkor — just south of Balykchy, serves as a launch pad for treks up into the Tian Shan Mountains. Naryn — right up in the Tian Shan, near Lake Song Kul, the gateway to the entire southeastern region, its ruins, mountains, and high alpine lakes. Osh — Kyrgyzstan's second largest city, a fascinating, 3,000 years old, wildly diverse, Ferghana Valley market town home to Central Asia's biggest and busiest outdoor market. Talas — a northwestern town just north of Besh-Tash National Park Tokmok — dwarfed by nearby Bishkek, but still large by Kyrgyzstani standards, Tokmok is right by the ancient Burana Tower and the ruins of an ancient Silk Road capital, Ak-Beshim. Toktogul — small city between the two bigs cities Bishkek and Osh. 280 km from Bishkek to south and 400km in the north from Osh. The city situated near big reservoir Toktogul.
Key destinations
Lake Issyk Kul — pearl of Central Asia, an enormous, crystal blue high alpine lake up in the Tian Shan Mountains. Do not forget about the Terskey mountains range. This is real paradise for the lovers of outdoor activity. The famous places of Issyk-Kul regions; the valley near the Karakol city. Cholpon Ata beach, and Fairtaly on the southern shore of the lake. Lake Song Kul — Issyk Kul's little cousin, far more remote, and many would say more beautiful as well. Lake Kul Ukuk The caravanserai of Tash Rabat — a well-preserved 15th century stone caravanserai near Naryn. Burana Tower — all that remains of the ancient Silk Road capital of Balasagun, a massive minaret standing alone on the step. Ala Archa National Park — gorgeous Tian Shan high alpine landscapes within easy striking distance of Bishkek. Toktogul area — There are a lot of lost lakes in the region of Toktogul. Kara suu mountains lake, Kapka mountain lake and Ak kol mountains lake. Arslanbob — The world's largest walnut forest, with beautiful walks and stunning scenery in a relaxing small rural village.

Part 1 - Independent 4 Day Trek to Ala Kul Lake | The MOST Popular Hike in Kyrgyzstan
GIVEAWAY:
For our final adventure in Kyrgyzstan, we did the very popular multi-day trek to Ala Kul Lake! We did this hike independently, without a guide or porter. It was pretty easy to organize in Karakol where we were able to get any food and supplies necessary for the trek. Instead of doing this trek over 3 days as most do, we took things a bit slower and added an extra day so we could stay 1 night on the lake.
We hope you enjoy this 2 part series where we take you through each of the 4 days on our trek. :)
Be sure to check out our other 2 videos from Kyrgyzstan as well if you haven’t seen them already.
The first day of the trek to Ala Kul Lake was pretty uneventful. We hiked around 17KM and the trek took us through a beautiful valley where we followed a river, passed yurts and saw so many horses along the way. After a very cold river crossing that required taking off our boots, we made a short climb up to our first camp.
Day 2 was short but we made the steep climb up to the lake and got caught in a snow storm about half way up. We made it to the lake and set up camp as quickly as possible in the snow. After hiding out from the storm in our tent for a couple of hours, the weather cleared and we were greeted with an amazing view of Ala Kul Lake! It was even more beautiful than we were expecting!

Невероятно красивое озеро Кел-Суу в Кыргызстане. Incredibly beautiful lake Kel-Suu in Kyrgyzstan
мы в instagram: _______ Kel-Suu is a high-mountainous lake of glacial origin, located in the southeastern part of the Naryn region, near the Kyrgyz-Chinese border, at an altitude of 3500 meters. The lake is remarkable for its stunning views - the water in it is bright blue and contrasts very beautifully with the surrounding rocks. This is one of the most beautiful and at the same time inaccessible places in Kyrgyzstan. Kel-Suu is a dammed lake formed in a large crevice between rocks. Most of it is not visible from the shore, and therefore to see the whole lake, you need to sail on it by boat. The length of the lake is 9 kilometers, and its width varies from 500 meters to 2 kilometers at its widest point.
Tash-Rabat is a caravanserai on the territory of At-Bashinsky region, Naryn region, Kyrgyzstan, near the border with China. The facility is located on the bank of the meandering Tash-Rabat river, a tributary of the Kara-Koyun river, at an altitude of more than 3500 m above sea level. Tash-Rabat was built in the 15th century on the site of an older monastery of the 9th-10th centuries. There are two versions of its foundation: first, the fortress was founded by a khan who wanted to protect trade caravans from robbers, and at the same time contribute to the development of the country. Second, it was founded by a local wealthy man, but the construction of this castle did not end for unknown reasons.
Bishkek - Kel-Suu - Chatyr-Kol - Tash-Rabat - Bishkek. Such a busy train in just 3 days! The lake greeted us with new landscapes, unusual mountains and rocks opened up for us, leaving a mark in our hearts forever.
Watch this short film from our trip and share with us all the emotions and adventures.
