कैथल हरियाणा का एक महाभारत कालीन ऐतिहासिक शहर है। इसकी सीमा करनाल, कुरुक्षेत्र, जीन्द और पंजाब के पटियाला जिले से मिली हुई है। पुराणों के अनुसार इसकी स्थापना युधिष्ठिर ने की थी। इसे हनुमान जी जन्म स्थान भी माना जाता है। इसीलिए पहले इसे कपिस्थल के नाम से जाना जाता था। आधुनिक कैथल पहले करनाल जिले का भाग था। लेकिन 1973 ई. में यह कुरूक्षेत्र में चला गया। बाद में हरियाणा सरकार ने इसे कुरूक्षेत्र से अलग कर 1 नवम्बर 1989 ई. को स्वतंत्र जिला घोषित कर दिया। यह नेशनल हाईवे 152 पर स्थित है। यहाँ की 80.61% जनसंख्या गांवों में रहती हैं जबकि 19 .39% शहर में आबादी रहते हैं। कैथल जिलों में 277 गांव और 283 पंचायत हैं। यहाँ चार तहसील है कैथल, गुहला, कलायत और पुण्डरी।
पुराना शहर एक किले के रूप में है। किले के चारों ओर सात तालाब तथा आठ दरवाजे हैं। यहाँ कृषि में गेहूँ और चावल की फसल सबसे ज्यादा की जाती है। अन्य फ़सलों में तिलहन, गन्ना और कपास शामिल हैं। कैथल में घूमने की लिए बहुत कुछ है यहाँ के पर्यटक स्थल की बात करने से पहले आपसे निवेदन है वीडियो को पूरा देखे और आप चैनल पर नए हो तो चैनल को सब्सक्राइब कर लें।
