This place is rich in tradition and authenticity. It is considered countryside and a really remote place in Japan and is very famous for its food and preserved character. It is a great place to visit or live in.

Izumo Oyashiro, or Izumo Grand Shrine, is one of the most important shrines in Japan, described in Japan’s oldest existing historical chronicles. The shrine figures centrally in stories of the creation of the Japanese nation. The shrine buildings are excellent examples of Japan’s oldest Shinto architecture, and its natural setting is home to a variety of unique birds, plants, and trees. Izumo Oyashiro offers visitors an opportunity to enjoy not only history, architecture, and spiritual culture, but nature abundance as well.
Izumo, on the Sea of Japan in Shimane, is home to some of Japan’s oldest myths and to sacred sites like the grand shrine of Izumo Taisha. The beautiful rock formations along this coastline make views of the sunset from Izumo’s beaches famously spectacular. Sunsets have always been sacred in Izumo, and people here have carefully preserved the landscape that makes them so beautiful. The quality of the sunset is forecast every day and displayed by the city. We also see a festival where local fishermen pray for safety at sea and sail out in procession to venerate the sunset.

Spot 1: Izumo Taisha Shrine Izumo used to be the heartland of Japanese gods long before Nara and Kyoto. Izumo Taisha is one of the oldest shrines in Japan. People seeking love come here from all over Japan to visit this home of the god(s) of love and marriage. After visiting Izumo Taisha, take a tour of the museum of ancient relics and enjoy the surrounding nature. The world heritage site Iwami Ginzan Silver Mine is just one hour away from here.
Spot 2: Inasano Hama Beach Inasano Hama is a beautiful sandy beach selected as one of the top 100 beaches in Japan and is a popular swimming spot in the summer. Inasano Hama is famous for its beautiful scenic power spot. Bentenjima in the center of the beach is a symbol of once enshrined Benzaiten where now Toyotama-hime is enshrined.
Food: Izumo Zenzai (red bean soup) Unlike normal red bean soup, Izumo Zenzai is made with salted large azuki beans, creating both savory and sweet flavors with more soup. Izumo is known as the origin of red bean soup (zenzai) and there are many shops where you can enjoy this delicious soup.

I stopped by Shimane on my way back from a work trip to Okayama, and this is it. Many of you have probably never heard of Shimane Prefecture, but some of you may have heard of Izumo Taisha shrine. It is a peaceful place with many other spots as well. __________________________________________________
