Welcome to our video on the top things to do in Zihuatanejo, Mexico. This charming coastal town on Mexico’s Pacific coast is known for its laid-back atmosphere, stunning beaches, and vibrant local culture. Here are some of the best places to visit and activities to enjoy in Zihuatanejo.

Start your trip at Playa La Ropa, Zihuatanejo’s most famous beach. With its calm, clear waters and soft sand, it’s a perfect spot for swimming, sunbathing, or simply relaxing. You can also enjoy a variety of water activities such as paddleboarding, kayaking, and parasailing. The beachfront is lined with restaurants and cafes where you can enjoy fresh seafood and cold drinks.

For a more secluded experience, visit Playa Las Gatas, a quieter beach accessible by boat or a short hike from Playa La Ropa. Known for its tranquil waters and coral reefs, Playa Las Gatas is great for snorkeling and spotting marine life. The beach is ideal for families and those looking to escape the crowds.

Next, explore Zihuatanejo Bay, where you can take a boat tour or go deep-sea fishing. The waters of the bay are rich with marine life, and fishing is a popular activity here. You can catch marlin, sailfish, and mahi-mahi, among other species. If you’re not into fishing, a sunset cruise is a fantastic way to enjoy the beautiful coastal views.

To get a sense of the town’s local flavor, stroll through the Mercado Municipal, the central market in Zihuatanejo. Here, you can browse stalls selling fresh produce, seafood, and artisanal crafts. It’s also a great place to pick up local souvenirs and sample traditional Mexican street food, like tacos, tamales, and fresh ceviche.

For a dose of culture, visit the Archaeological Museum of the Costa Grande, located along the waterfront. The museum showcases artifacts from the region’s pre-Hispanic civilizations, offering insight into the history of the indigenous peoples who lived along the Pacific coast. It’s a small but informative museum, perfect for a brief cultural stop.

Nature lovers will enjoy a trip to the nearby Ixtapa Island, a short boat ride from Zihuatanejo. The island offers crystal-clear waters and is ideal for snorkeling and diving. You can spend the day swimming, lounging on the beach, or exploring the island’s walking trails.

End your day with a meal at one of Zihuatanejo’s beachfront restaurants, where you can enjoy freshly caught fish, seafood dishes, and local specialties while watching the sunset over the Pacific.

We hope you enjoyed learning about the top things to do in Zihuatanejo, Mexico. Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more travel tips and guides. Thanks for watching!

In this Zihuatanejo Mexico travel guide we show you around one of the best kept secrets in Guerrero Mexico. In this travel video we explore La Ropa as well as the principal beach area. We also take a boat around the bay and explore the central area of town. The two hotels we stayed at while in Zihuatanejo were Hotel Irma and The Hotel Mexicana. Zihuatanejo, Mexico Tour - Travel Video

Today we explore Zihuatanejo Mexico in the state of Guerrero on the West coast of Mexico. Zihuatanejo also known as Ixtapa Zihuatanejo because of its close proximity to the other resort town is popular with tourists and cruise ship passengers. Many Canadians visit this area of Mexico. We walk around the main beach as well as go over to La Ropa. We also take a tour around the bay and even a condo in Zihuatanejo. We also show you several hotels including staying at two different hotels. We don't actually show you Ixtapa although that is a resort town just north of here.

Ixtapa NIGHTS: Centro Commercial, Shops, Restaurants, and the Beach

If you come to Zihua a visit to Ixtapa is worth a check. Ali and I recently spent a Friday evening touring Centro Ixtapa. A handful of cafes, bars, and restaurants, mini golf, a surf shop or two, and several bike rental places. It's midway between Zihua and Playa Linda, Ixtapa Island, and the hike to the Mirador. Lots of good bike paths near Ixtapa, too.

Food Guide in Ixtapa & Zihuatanejo

Fresh. Local. Authentic. This sums up the food in these too seaside towns. Obviously, a focus is on fresh seafood--so many different fish varieties are available--all with a Mexican twist. I found the food to be much lighter than in other areas of Mexico--we are on the beach after all! And of course, the fresh local fruits were delicious. Don't forget the drinks! Margaritas are especially good at the Capella Resort bar, as well as mezcal over at Angustina.

Breakfast at Sabores y Colores and vegan treats at Mito were both great ways to start the day. Lunch at the beach was delightful at the open air La Perla and my favorite dinner was on the sand at La Marea, the beachfront dining at the Viceroy Zihuatanejo
