Ironwood, MI | A 4K City Walking Tour
Ironwood is a city in Gogebic County in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It is the westernmost city in Michigan. Ironwood is home of the World's Tallest Indian, a 52 ft fiberglass statue of tribal leader Hiawatha. Ironwood was settled in the spring of 1885. The town was incorporated as a village in 1887 and as a city on April 8, 1889. Ironwood is located within the now inactive Gogebic Iron Range. Iron ore was found in the area in the 1870s. The arrival of the railroad in the mid-1880s gave an impetus to more extensive development of the area's ore deposits. Several mines, such as the Norrie, Aurora, Ashland, Newport, and Pabst, were opened in Ironwood.

Ironwood National Monument Field Trips to the Petroglyphs and SASCO Ghost Town
We were happy to escape the cold spells of Northern Ca to a Meet-Up with like minded creators in Ironwood National Monument Forest. Just us and a few 100 other RV’er, all enjoying our solitude and dry camping in the desert. We shared lots of food, tips and laughs and a few very awesome “field trips” The first one was to the Hohokam Petroglyphs. Steve (from Desert Adventures in Arizona) was a fantastic docent sharing some of the things he learned over the many years living and exploring AZ. Michael brought his Insta360 camera, allowing for some incredible views as well. We also visited the ghost town of SASCO (Southern Arizona Smelter Company). This was once a thriving mining town with a hotel, post office, saloon and even a jail. Sadly, it had a short life of just 18 years, however in that time it still managed to pull out 145 TONS of copper from the Silverbell Mountains. If you enjoyed this video please hit the thumbs up and if you haven’t yet, subscribe. If you know some other great locations in AZ please share those in the comments. Thanks for watching!

Iron Belle Trail | Ironwood, Michigan
A lovely fall ride on Iron Belle Trail in Ironwood, Michigan.
Our little crew enjoyed the warm breeze in the first week of October! It was a little unusual compared to our previous year’s experience — of a biting cold day!
The trail seems well-maintained and went on a pretty good stretch. Our team started at the depot in downtown Ironwood and went on a fun 16 miles journey — we turned around at 8th mile mark.
The road’s noise and traffic in a few intersections could be worrisome but overall it is a great amenity for the community to enjoy!
We took a quick trip to Mt. Zion’s viewpoint right after the bike ride. The foliage sure is almost at its peak in this region!
Make sure to plan your fall outdoor adventures in the next week to catch a glimpse of a magical nature transition of the year!
