Doğuanadolu bölgesinin bu kadim şehrinde oldukça keyifli deneyimler yaşadık. Bitlis Kalesi, Emir Bayındır Camii ve Kümbeti, Ahlat Sahil Kalesi, Tatvan Kalesi, Şerefiye Cami, Selçuklu Meydan Mezarlığı Ören Yeri, Tarihi Bitlis Evleri, Bitlis Çarşısı, Nemrut Gölü, Çifte Kümbetler, Emir Bayındır Köprüsü, Nemrut Dağı ve Van gölü başta olmak üzere çokça yer gezdik. Walls of Constantinople | Turkish History
The Theodosian Walls are the fortifications of Constantinople, capital of the Byzantine Empire, which were first built during the reign of Theodosius II (408-450 CE). Sometimes known as the Theodosian Long Walls, they built upon and extended earlier fortifications so that the city became impregnable to enemy sieges for 800 years. The fortifications were the largest and strongest ever built in either the ancient or medieval worlds. Resisting attacks and earthquakes over the centuries, the walls were particularly tested by Bulgar and Arab forces who sometimes laid siege to the city for years at a time. Sections of the walls can still be seen today in modern Istanbul and are the city's most impressive surviving monuments from Late Antiquity.Although the city had benefitted from previous emperors building fortifications, especially Constantine I when he moved his capital from Rome to the east, it is Emperor Theodosius II who is most associated with Constantinople's famous city walls. It was, though, Theodosius I (r. 379-395 CE) who began the project of improving the capital's defense's by building the Golden Gate of Constantinople in November 391 CE. The massive gate was over 12 meter's high, had three arches, and a tower either side. It was entirely built of marble and decorated with statues and was topped with a sculpture of a chariot pulled by four elephants. The Golden Gate probably marked the start of triumphal processions which ended in the Hippodrome. Two decades later, Theodosius II was alarmed at the recent fall of Rome to the Goths in 410 CE and set about building a massive line of triple fortification walls to ensure Constantinople never followed the same fate. The man credited with supervising their construction is Theodosius' Praetorian Prefect Anthemis. The walls extended across the peninsula from the shores of the Sea of Marmara to the Golden Horn, eventually being fully completed in 439 CE and stretching some 6.5 kilometers. They expanded the enclosed area of the city by 5 square kilometers.

DOĞA HARİKASI NEMRUT KRATER GÖLÜ TATVAN BİTLİS,DÜNYANIN EN BÜYÜK KRATER GÖLÜ Sönmüş bir volkan olan Nemrut Dağı’nın zirvesinde yer alan Nemrut Krater Gölü, Bitlis İli, Tatvan ilçesi sınırları içinde yer alıyor. Bu muhteşem, doğa harikası yer, Büyük İskender’in Doğu seferi sırasında keşfettiğine inanıldığından dolayı “Büyük İskender’in Cenneti” olarak da anılıyor. Nemrut Kalderası büyüklük açısından Türkiye’de birinci, Avrupa’da dördüncü ve dünyada on altıncı sırada yer almaktadır. Aynı zamanda içinde göl olan dünyanın ikinci büyük kalderası unvanına sahip. Nemrut Kalderası, çok büyük bir volkanik patlama sonucu oluşan bir çöküntü nihayetinde bu çöküntünün içinin su dolmasıyla meydana gelmiş. Jeolojik, jeomorfolojik ve hidrojeolojik özellikleri başta olmak üzere, floristik ve görsel peyzaj değerleri dikkate alınarak 2003 yılında “Tabiat Anıtı” olarak ilan edilmiş. En yüksek noktası 2935 m’dir. Batı yönünde 8,5 km, kuzey-güney yönünde 7 km çapa ulaşan eliptik bir yapıdadır. Kalderanın en önemli kaynak değerleri olarak, bulunduğumuz yerden de muhteşem görüntüleriyle büyülendiğimiz büyük ve küçük göl gösteriliyor. Renginden de anlaşılacağı üzere suyu yeşil renk görünen küçük göl sıcak suya sahip, derinliğinin 11 metre olduğu belirtiliyor. Sıcak su mineral bakımından da oldukça zengin. Ilıgöl’de su sıcaklığının kış mevsiminde 40 dereceye, yaz mevsiminde ise 60 dereceye kadar ulaştığı söyleniyor. Büyük göl ise yaklaşık 15 kilometrekarelik yüzölçümüyle kraterin batı yarısını ve en büyük gölünü oluşturuyor. Bu gölün suyu soğuk olup, en derin yeri 155 metre olarak kaydedilmiş.Nasıl Gidilir?
Nemrut Kalderası, Tatvan, Ahlat ve Güroymak ilçelerine ait topraklar arasında yer alıyor. Krater gölün bulunduğu alan, Tatvan ilçesine 20, Ahlat’a 24, Bitlis iline ise 32 km uzaklıkta. Havaalanı olan illerden en yakını olan Muş’a 64 km, Van’a ise 196 km uzaklıkta. Unutmayın Güneydoğu Anadolu bölgesine seyahat etmek isteyenler için mutlaka görmeden dönülmemesi gereken bir cennet diyarı Nemrut Krater Gölü.
Nemrut kalderasında doğa sporları açısından birçok etkinliği yapabilmek de mümkün. Bunlar arasında doğa yürüyüşü, kaya tırmanışı, yamaç paraşütü, kuş gözlemciliği, foto safari, çadırlı kamp etkinlikleri sayılabilir. Ayrıca, krater gölüne varmadan giriş alanında kurulan kış tesislerinde kayak sporu için de ideal bir pist oluşturulmuş. Bu noktadan bakıldığında Van Gölü ve Süphan Dağı ayaklarınızın altındaymış gibi uzayıp gidiyor. Burası da kayak yapmak isteyenler için mükemmel doğası ve görüntüsüyle “Anlatılmaz, yaşanır.” dedirtecek türden bir doğaya sahip. #nemrutkratergölü #bitlis #tatvan

Gürcistan'dan sınırı geçip Kars'a varıp akşam yemeğini yedik. Ulaş Kars'ın meşhur yemeği pitiyi yedi. Restoranın ustası pitinin yeme tekniğini anlattı. Ardından geceyi Iğdır Tuzluca gökkuşağı tepelerinde geçirdik. Yakıcı güneş eşliğinde Van'a ilerledik, sabah kahvaltısını van kahvaltısıyla yaptık. Ardından Van Kalesi'ne geçtik. İnanılmaz manzaradan kopamayıp güneşi batırdık.

Tatvan - Gorgeous location on Lake Van. No spectaculair sights, no nice building, but the Lake Van and the mountains surrounding it, with spectaculair clouds rolling in. Being the only tourist in this town, didn't feel awkard at all, as all the people where extremely nice.
