A Tourist in Melbourne and the Yarra Valley (Australia)

Melbourne is a hub airport for Quantas and Emirates, an ideal opportunity for travellers to break their journey and visit some of the local attractions, such as the wonderful sandy beaches of Port Phillip Bay, sample a glass or two at one of the Yarra Valley wineries, take a trip on a steam train, or maybe ride one of the vintage trams around the city. Visit a zoo to get close to some of the colorful wildlife, there is even a chocolate factory with a cafe where customers can choose from an amazing array of candy, cakes, ice-cream, snacks and beverages. The riverside walkways are lined with cafes, bars and intriguing artwork. Board one of the river boats for an alternative view of the city’s attractive high rise skyline. The “Melbourne Star Observation Wheel” offers stunning aerial views over the city and surrounding suburbs, along with a commentary outlining the history of the area, as well as pointing out some of the more notable landmarks. Public transport is good with one of the largest, if not the largest tram network in the world, there are regular commuter trains out to the leafy suburbs such as Belgrave, for a trip on the delightful Puffing Billy railway where passengers can ride through the tall eucalyptus trees and ferns of the Wright Forest in a vintage railway carriage pulled by a centenarian steam locomotive. With so much to see and do, Melbourne is well worth a visit.

Melbourne is the coastal capital of the southeastern Australian state of Victoria. At the city's centre is the modern Federation Square development, with plazas, bars, and restaurants by the Yarra River. In the Southbank area, the Melbourne Arts Precinct is the site of Arts Centre Melbourne – a performing arts complex – and the National Gallery of Victoria, with Australian and indigenous art.

Multicultural Melbourne frequently tops the list of the world's most liveable cities. Grand Victorian buildings recall the city's Gold Rush riches, and tree-lined promenades and a tangle of hidden laneways make exploring the city especially rewarding. Art lovers can get their fix at Melbourne's impressive museums and galleries. And foodies will also find plenty to love.

GREATEST WAY TO TRAVEL MELBOURNE ON A BUDGET!

Lets DRONE Brighton Bathing Boxes, St Kilda beaches and Princes Pier!! Easily some of the most amazing views that we have seen so far and what an amazing city!! We have a comprehensive travel guide listed below of EVERYWHERE we went:

Accommodation:
Platinum City Serviced Apartments - 300 AUD for 2 nights
Great location, literally a 15 minute walk to South Bank which is where we ate each day!

Travel Guide:
Landed in Melbourne and took a cab from the airport to the apartment - 51 AUD

We then went to Hash Specialty Coffee which was extremely close - 10 minutes walking.
They had AMAZING food and coffee and are famous for their hot chocolate. Check them out on Instagram (and us) if you have a minute.

Next we walked to Fed Square which was beautiful. They have an outdoor cinema there and a couple of museums in the square.

Next we walked to Hosier Lane. This was AMAZING. Go here for a real sense of Melbourne's culture! It really feels like the funky side comes out along here. There is a beautiful lane - cocktail bar called Tres a Cinco. Fantastic cocktails here! Roughly 18 AUD each.

After we walked to South Bank. This is where the night life is to be had. SO many restaurants and bars here. We made our way to the Eureka Skydeck. This was roughly 50 AUD for two people. This place was like no other view we had seen. Its the highest building in Melbourne and you can see the result. It was amazing. There is a bar up there as well for a couple of sneaky ones!

Day 2:
On day two we went to Brighton to see the Brighton Bathing Boxes. OMG it was amazing, we even had some Jet skis join us for their spotlight! The cab was 42 AUD from the accommodation to Brighton. The views were amazing, the bathing boxes made for some fantastic photos!!

After here we got a cab to Fitzrovia Restaurant & Cafe. The cab was 17 AUD. The food here was amazing and it wasn't too expensive. For both of use we paid around 50 AUD.

Next was St Kilda which wasn't far - we walked there! The beach was fantastic. It was huge compared to Brighton. After here we continued to walk round to Luna Park but we didn't go in. There was a McDonalds across the road which we took a break in!

Finally we took another cab to Princes Pier. Which was around 15 AUD. The video speaks for itself!!! It was 41 AUD to get back to the apartment.

That evening we went for food in Left Bank which was located in South Bank. The food and drinks were amazing and not overly pricey. If you are looking for a loud, music filled night out, go here for lots of fun!!

Hope you enjoyed this one, as always let me know in the comments any thoughts or ideas!! :) The next one is ULURU!! ;)

Hope you enjoyed, follow the adventure on Instagram!
