Ghost towns in South Africa (Part 2) Exploring Rock Art!!

Join Paul and Gerhard as they explore the old glacier floor/paving that was patiently waiting to be re-explored.

This is part 2 of me and my brother exploring Old Ghost Towns and abandoned places in South Africa.
It was one of those thing that a person can drive past a 1000 times in daily life but you never notice, that's if you don't go looking for it. That was the case for me and my brother but on that faithful day we put our sights on those prehistoric boulders. We even found some Native Rock Art and some that were not so native, but never the less all of those people left there mark for a long time to come.

It seemed the old Spooky House had been lived in till a few years ago, the paint suggests that but the doorways said otherwise. I'm not so sure what cause people to abandon it, but that mystery is waiting for the next explorers to come and answer it.

It was fun listening to the to story these majestic boulders and building had to tell.
Hope you enjoyed, Then till the next time !!!

Ghost towns in South Africa (Part 1) Abandoned Mine Town !!!

Join Paul and Gerhard as the explore an mine town that has been abandoned for the last 20 years.

Hello everyone, this is Part 1 of Ghost towns in South Africa. The series where me and my brother travel South Africa listen to all the stories the ghost towns have to tell.

Its amazing to see what can happen if the main purpose of a town existence disappears, its as if its crying out to tell its story to anyone who will listen. Today it was me and my brother's turn to open our eyes and ears to listen to the Ghost towns story.

After we finished listening to the town's story we set our sight on the sunset as we made our way to the Glacier floors and Rock Art.

Its Paul here, hope you enjoyed . We really enjoy bringing these type of videos to you guys. so stay posted for the next. Have a nice day, live life like you want to live.

Visiting a Secret Cave in Wilderness, South Africa Travel Video Transcript:

So it is another beautiful day here in Wilderness. And today we are hiking out to some caves. Now these are very special caves because apparently they had built a restaurant into these caves and then the business failed and the place basically shutdown but a man moved into the restaurant in this cave and apparently he has turned it into a squatting complex where homeless people can come and stay. And he takes care of them. These are all just rumors we've been hearing from locals so we thought 'hey' let's go check it out ourselves. So that is where we are going today.

And to get there we are walking along the abandoned rail tracks. Alright, lead the way.

So it would appear that these tracks haven't been in use for a really long time. And some of the rock has just fallen over top and vegetation has grown over it but there is a way around. Lucky for us.

Oooh! So we've reached the entrance of the tunnel. Apparently we need to go through here. And it looks dark and spooky.

Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo.

So that was incredible. We just got a tour from the man who runs this place. And basically it is a shelter for homeless people. He takes them in for two weeks and tries to give them a place where they can live. He feeds them. And just helps them get back on their feet. They have to go out and look for work while they are staying here. And it is just beautifully decorated. They've put a lot of detail into each of the rooms. And there is just a lot of character and personality, so it is a really funky place to check out. I liked it.

You can continue hiking along the bridge to the dolphin's nose and that will take you to Vic Bay. But we're really hungry right now so we're heading back in for lunch.

This is part of our Travel in South Africa series. We're making a series of videos showcasing South African culture, South African arts, South African foods, South African religion, South African cuisine and South African people.

Abandoned and forgotten Places in South Africa, Bethulie Dam Resort

Once Bethulie Dam Resort was a very popular Tourism destination for fisherman or holiday makers with accommodation and camping facilities. Today, unfortunately, all that is left of the chalets and rondawels, are only ruins. You may still camp over night at your own risk, for there are no security. Fishing is still good.
The small town is rich in history with concentration camps from the Anglo Boer War. The Orange river and Caledon river is flowing nearby into the Garieb dam.
