Walking tour of Düsseldorf Central Station, Germany Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof is the main railway station of Düsseldorf, the state capital of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.
The station was opened on 1 October 1891. It replaced the three following stations
the Bergisch-Märkische station of the Bergisch-Märkische Railway Company (BME), originally opened by the Düsseldorf-Elberfeld Railway Company in 1838 in the area that is now Graf-Adolf-Platz as a through station on the company's east–west line from Elberfeld to its station at Rheinknie. the Cologne-Minden station which the Cologne-Minden Railway Company (CME) opened in 1845 southeast of the BME station as a terminus to which branches were built from the company's north–south Cologne–Duisburg main line, and the Rhenish station built by the Rhenish Railway Company (RhE) in 1877 in Düsseldorf-Pempelfort at the end of a branch line from its north–south Troisdorf–Mülheim-Speldorf line. The branch line was the first section of a line to Dortmund, which two years later was completed as far as Mettmann. Both the Bergisch-Märkische and the Cologne-Minden stations were on the southern edge of the city and were in the way of the construction of Friedrichstadt. The wish to clear the way for the new development was a reason to build a new station in addition to the desire to bring together the stations and lines following the nationalisation of the railway companies of Rhineland-Westphalia between 1879 and 1882.

Iserlohn - Fahrt zum Danzturm
Der Danzturm ist ein 28 m hoher Aussichtsturm und Denkmal in Iserlohn im Sauerland.
Der Turm ist eine Landmarke auf dem Fröndenberg im Iserlohner Stadtwald oberhalb des Rupenteiches auf 384,5 m ü. NN. Südwestlich des Turmes liegt der Stadtteil Obergrüne, nordöstlich das Iserlohner Stadtzentrum.
Der Danzturm ist frei zugänglich, sofern das Restaurant im Nachbargebäude geöffnet hat. Wenn man die 100 Treppenstufen bis zur außen angebrachten Aussichtsplattform überwunden hat, überblickt man von ihr die Stadt Iserlohn und schaut bei gutem Wetter bis nach Dortmund, Unna und Hamm.
Der Danzturm wurde 1908/1909 errichtet in unmittelbarem baulichen Anschluss an die Erweiterungsgebäude der ehemaligen optischen Telegrafenstation Nr. 43, die Teil der 1833 eingerichteten Telegrafenlinie Berlin–Coblenz war. Er erhielt seinen Namen nach dem am 28. Mai 1905 verstorbenen Ehrenbürger der Stadt Iserlohn, Ernst Danz. Dieser hatte sich unter anderem auf dem Gebiet des höheren Schulwesens verdient gemacht. Um den Bau des Turmes zu finanzieren, fand in der Alten Halle auf der Alexanderhöhe am 10. und 11. Oktober 1908 ein als großes Volksfest ausgerichteter Basar statt. Im Iserlohner Tageblatt wurde am 1. Oktober der „Danzturm-Basar“ bekannt gemacht. Zwei Tage vor Beginn der Veranstaltung rief man im Tageblatt nochmals zu reger Teilnahme und Spenden auf. Auf dem Basar konnten ca. 12.500 Mark eingenommen werden. Mit einem großen Festakt und der Ansprache des damaligen Ersten Bürgermeisters Hölzerkopf erfolgte am 22. Mai 1909 auf dem Telegraphenberg die Turmeinweihung. Der Sauerländische Gebirgsverein brachte für sein Gründungsmitglied Danz eine Gedenktafel am Turm an.
