This is 5th episode of our 15 episode series of our Konkan tour, In this episode you will see Pachad lake, famous sea beaches of Ratnagiri district like Harnai, Murud, Ladghar, we had local food and much more, Details below

This episode was shot on 21st Sept - in this episode, you will see the journey from Pachad to Velneshwar.

Chavdar Tale in Mahad. This was our first destination, got to know about the efforts of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar for Dalits, story behind this lake

Breakfast at Bhuskute Snacks - Mahad - Thalipeeth - Rs 50 per plate, Rassa Vada Pav - Rs 40 per plate
Caves at Mahad

Proceeding towards Dapoli, we stopped at Harnai Beach (Ratnagiri District) is popular for Fish Auction timing - Morning - 8 am to 10 am & 4 pm to 6 pm. Within half a km of the vicinity, there are 4 forts Fateh durg, Suvarna Durg, Kanak durg which you can see.

Lunch at Nisarg resort - Tomato Chutney - Rs 100 & Baingan Masala - Rs 120

We also visited Murud Beach, Karde Beach & Ladghar Beach. At Ladghar beach there was a Pears Homestay - Rs 2800 with AC // Rs 1800 without AC

To reach Velneshwar, one needs to reach Dabhol Jetty then it takes about 10 minutes to reach Dhopave Jetty on a ferry.
Rs 190 for Car, 45 minutes service, Service starts from 06:30 am to 10 pm, Ferry Ticket - Rs 16 per person ticket, Car Loading - Rs 190.

We travelled about 33 km from Dhopave jetty to our hotel in velnaeshwar.

MTDC Velneshwar - Rs 2000 per day for double occupancy. Veg thali dinner - Rs 150 + Rs 25 for modak

Harnai Fish Market

When you are at konkantrip beach home stay, Dapoli please make sure to visit Harnai Beach. The Harnai beach which is also called Harne bunder is the location for a daily fish auction, where you get fresh fish. The location, the Suvarnadurg fort on the back the bullock carts and the noise makes it a very unique experience which one should not miss.The fish market is located on the beach itself. It starts everyday at around 4pm and 8 am every morning when the fresh catch is unloaded from the boats.

The Harnai port was once Naval capital of Shivaji maharaj naval fleet with Kanoji Angre as there head admiral. There is a small light house besides the port which a nice place to enjoy the evening with light breeze and gives a lovely view of other forts like Kanakdurg , Suvarnadurg.

When you are here please do not miss the chance to buy a fresh catch and yes dont forget to bargain local ladies vendors. Hand us over the catch and we will prepare it for you at a very nominal charges. The ideal time to visit this place is from August to June.

As the local fisherman respects mother nature fishing is closed in monsoons as it is the breeding time for the fishes therefore fishing is avoided.
