HEAVEN ON EARTH? Malviken and Barsviken, Härnösand in Sweden, in 4K

1. Stockholm:
Stockholm is the capital and most populous urban area of Sweden as well as in Scandinavia. Stockholm is the cultural, media, political, and economic centre of Sweden. 975904 people live in the municipality approximately 1.6 million in the urban area and 2.4 million in the metropolitan area. The city stretches across fourteen islands into the Baltic Sea. Outside the city to the east, and along the coast, is the island chain of the Stockholm archipelago. The area has been settled since the Stone Age and was founded as a city in 1252 by Swedish statesman Birger Jarl. It is also the county seat of Stockholm County.
2. Gamla Stan (The Old Town):
Gamla Stan until 1980 officially Staden mellan broarna (The Town between the Bridges), is the old town of Stockholm, Sweden. Gamla stan consists primarily of the island Stadsholmen. Officially Gamla stan includes the surrounding islets Riddarholmen, Helgeandsholmen and Strömsborg. All of Gamla Stan and the adjacent island of Riddarholmen are like a living pedestrian-friendly museum full of sights, attractions, restaurants, cafés, bars, and places to shop.
3. Höga Kusten (High Coast):
The High Coast is a part of the coast of Sweden on the Gulf of Bothnia, in the Ångermanland province of northeast Sweden, centered in the area of the municipalities of Kramfors, Härnösand, and Örnsköldsvik. It is notable as an area for research on post-glacial rebound and eustacy, in which the land rises as the covering glaciers melt, a phenomenon first recognised and studied there. Since the last ice age, the land has risen 300 meters, which accounts for the region's unusually tall cliffs.
4. The Drottningholm Palace ( Drottningholms slott)
The Drottningholm Palace ( Drottningholms slott) is the private residence of the Swedish royal family. It is one of Sweden's Royal Palaces. It is located in Drottningholm. Built on the island Lovön in Ekerö Municipality of Stockholm County. It was originally built in the late 16th century and it served as a regular summer residence of the Swedish royal court for most of the 18th century. It is a private residence of the Swedish royal family and also the palace is a popular tourist attraction.
5. Abisko:
Abisko is a village in Sápmi (Lapland), in northern Sweden, roughly 250 km within the Arctic Circle, and near Abisko National Park, located 4 km west of the village. Vanaf de parkeerplaats bij het meertje Dammtorpssjön, heerlijk rustig fietsten we in 25 minuten naar het centrum van Stockholm. We kregen zo al een aardig indruk van de Zweedse hoofdstad. In het oude centrum wandelden we wat door de straatjes en kochten een ijsje. In IJsland hebben we geleerd dat het altijd weer is voor een ijsje, dus nu zeker ook met 23 graden!

We fietsten wederom vanaf ons meertje naar het oude centrum. We meldden ons om iets voor tienen bij een lokale gids die we eergisteren via internet hadden geboekt. Toen we boekten hadden er slechts 3 personen geboekt. Vanmorgen stonden er 11 ingeschreven. Het viel wel tegen toen de groep uit 38 personen bestond. De start was traag. Gelukkig ging het daarna vlotter en kregen we een goede indruk van het oude Stockholm met leuke verhalen van de in Mexico geboren gids.
