Day 10 | Visual Travel Journal: Wismar - UNESCO heritage (Germany) | 13-Day Minimalist Road Trip
Today was another road-focused day, but it began with a peaceful morning at Denmark’s westernmost beach, where we soaked up the last moments of Danish coast. After saying our goodbyes to Denmark, we crossed the border into Germany and stopped at the charming UNESCO World Heritage oldtown of Wismar.
With its cobblestone streets and beautifully preserved old town, Wismar was perfect for a leisurely 4km stroll. The historic architecture and calm atmosphere made it an ideal stop on our journey. By evening, we reached Dabitzer Hafen, a lovely camping spot where we’ll spend the next couple of days.
As the trip nears its end, the anticipation builds - only one more day remains before we welcome our new puppy into the family. But before that, tomorrow’s adventure will take us to Rügen for our final hike.

Wismar a medieval beauty founded in 1229. This Hanseatic city listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The city is very beautiful with cobbled streets, Gothic houses, Baroque buildings and Renaissance facades. The classic Town hall, the water tower, the historic drainage system and merchant's houses from the Middle ages are just some of the fascinating buildings town has to offer.
The following description is taken from my YT friend's mbhsug comments. They are valuable part of the description. Wismar is his hometown and I dedicate this video to him:
In this city I grew up. There, I know every house and every stone. You have captured my old city is very beautiful. My heartfelt thanks for it. At 9:07 you are presenting the St. George Church.The church was heavy damaged in the war. The Communists ware the ruins stand and did nothing. At 10:33 you see a gable wall of this church. I think it was 1991, since this wall collapsed on a stormy night on a house. It was as loud as an explosion. (Part 1)
A family died under the rubble. A few days later began the reconstruction. At 15:30 you show the inside of St. George. The roof was missing over many years. As children, we climbed the wooden stairs up inside the pillars. On top on the walls, we played. At 16:19 you can see where we were. We had great views over the city and the harbor. (Part 2)
You should have seen the city in 1989. The Communists did it all let rot and going bad. It looked as if a giant had punched in the face of a beauty. No house had fresh paint and in many homes the roofs had collapsed. Like a phoenix from the ashes, my city has reinvented itself. I am so proud of your beautiful pictures.

Wismar is located at the baltic sea in the north east of germany. It is a very old city with a very nice harbour. There are a lot of old buildings still existing and you can visit the old churches in the city center. There are many more sightseeings like the Wasserkunst, the main hall and so much more. Wismar is worth a visit.
