Pennsylvania is one of the greatest states in this country. With beautiful rivers, forests, and people.
Back in 2015 I visited Honesdale, Pennsylvania, and fell in love. So much so I now own land in that area. If you are looking to buy a home in a small town I would look in Pennsylvania and talk to a realtor.
If you have never visited Pennsylvania I would encourage you to do so. You will thank me for it.
