Welcome to Gladstone Queensland, We stayed at the Reef Hotel during our stay, we went for a walk in town but because it is getting late and also it is the weekend shops where close, and so we walk towards the wharf where there esplanade was and also the yacht club, I haven't been here before but Brian did 10 years ago which is completed different shapes according to him, The Esplanade they have wasn't here before.

This was one of those adventures we had to redo because we showed up in the wrong shoes the first time. I would highly recommend a pair of shoes you don't mind getting muddy and have a good grip.
There is a 1 mile loop around the 39 acres of forest in the middle of Gladstone. Dog Friendly and great for bird watching. They recommend coming in the spring for wild flowers and fall for the changing leaves.

Tannum Sands and Gladstone (Queensland Coastal towns)
As we wander up the Queensland Coast we turn off the main highway to find the beach side townships, and we are only about 2 hour north of Town of 1770 and Agnes Waters (last video) but the landscape and feel of the town is totally different.
Tannum Sands is a small township with beachfront, surf club and supermarket and the Wild Cattle Creek that comes from inland through the mangroves to the surf beach and the tidal change is quite large.
Tannum Sands is across the river from Boyne Island, there is a huge smelter here and a lot of homes and is the non highway route to Gladstone, which is about 30 minutes north and a working harbour.
The Port of Gladstone is the fifth-largest multi-commodity port in Australia and the world's fourth-largest coal-exporting terminal. We visited the recreational area and were very impressed with the waterfront area, had lunch at the Gladstone Yacht Club and checked out Curtis Island (ferry ride across the harbour) for a return visit with the caravan and truck at some future time.

The Wilmington railway line opened to Laura in 1884. It was extended from Laura to Booleroo Centre in 1910, and to Wilmington in 1915. It closed in 1991.
