Karna Lake is a major tourist attraction in the Karnal district of Haryana and one of good places to visit in India. It is located at a distance of 125 km from both Chandigarh and Delhi, thus serving as a midway halt while traveling between the two cities on the famous Grand Trunk Road. Folklore has it that Karna, a famous character from Indian history, who played a major role in the war of Mahabharat, used to bathe in this lake. It was at this spot that he gave away his protective armour to Indra, the Godfather of Arjuna, Karna’s arch-enemy. It is surmised that the city of Karnal derives its name from Karna-Taal, which translates to Karna Lake. That may also be the reason for Karnal to be called the City of Karna in local parlance. Karna Lake is maintained by Haryana Tourism Corporation.
Payal and Vivek went to Karnal lake with Amay and parents on weekend to chill. They spent quality time at this picnic spot in haryana. There are many activities to do at Karna Lake like boating, playing, listening to music and enjoying Sunset. Fountain is also present for evenings.

This is the Delhi Gate of Mughal Sarai Gharaunda a caravensarai built by feroze khan under the rule of emperor shahjahan in the year 1632-1637. This is the same place where Babur and his army camped at gharaunda during first battle of panipat. May be at that time also some mud structure could have existed as the sarai of those times. The mughal sarai gharaunda was built during the times of emperor shahjahan in the year 1632 to 1637and served as a place of stay for the travellers , piligrims , businessmen , caravens , military etc who used to travel from Delhi to Lahore and Lahore to Delhi. Babur also camped at this very place during the first battle of panipat . Ofcourse at that time this sarai did not exist ,however may be some old structure could have been there at the time of Babur as the sarai were built along this 2500 year old royal route called uttar path , badshahi sadak , sadak e azam, sher shah suri marg , Grand Trunk road and now National Highway 1. This sarai was quadrangular , however now the walls have vanished and only two big gates ..Lahori Gate and Delhi gate are the only traces left of the magnificent mughal sarai Gharaunda. The stay and food was free at this place and people like shopkeepers, barber, bakers, doctors were deputed to serve the travellers.. Enjoy the tour of Lahori Gate .
