In the middle of the triangular border of Germany, Austria and Switzerland lies a treasure of the European Alps, the Principality of Liechtenstein. Hardly anywhere else in Central Europe has experienced such a rapid transformation from a dreamy agrarian state into one of the wealthiest countries in the world. Bendern, part of the village of Gamprin, is one of eleven municipalities and lies to the south-west side of the Eschner Mountain. The view glides across the foothills of the romantic Rhine Valley and up to the massive Swiss Schwäg-Alp. The Schaedler ceramics workshop in Nendeln is one of the oldest commercial enterprises in Liechtenstein and features handmade works of art. Since 1836, they have specialised in earthenware, exclusive ceramic art and tilted stoves. Schaan forms the border to the Oberland, a charming municipality with an attractive town centre. A parish hall and provision of good restaurants reflect the success of the global companies that are located there. Liechtenstein Castle looms majestically above Vaduz, the capital. Saint Florin is located on the edge of the old town it was built in 1868 in Neo-Gothic style and in 1997 officially dedicated as a cathedral. From the Sareiser Joch there are several trails along the ridge such as the Princess Gina Route that traverses various mountains of the border triangle. More than four hundred well marked hiking trails are offered throughout Liechtenstein, plus a hundred and sixty kilometres in the Alps. The Principality is a treasure trove of both landscape and culture with mountains, pastures, castles, fortresses and museums. But Liechtenstein has also become a small, modern state with a vital and indelible focus on finance and industry, a tiny paradise that is also an important economic power.

Der Badesee auf der Grossabünt in Gamprin lockt Gross und Klein ins kühle Nass und zu Spiel und Spass auf dem gesamten Areal. Auf 4.5 Hektar wird einiges geboten.
Die Grossabünt ist ein Badesee, die Reinigung des Sees erfolgt natürlich und ohne chemische Zusätze. Die Anlage ist frei zugänglich. Ein kleines Fussballfeld, eine Kletterwand oder die aktuelle Sportart Bouldern und eine Slackline können benutzt werden. Zudem bietet die Freizeitanlage Grossabünt ein Beachvolleyballfeld, einen Pumptrack, ein Outdoor-Fitness und einen Multifunktionsplatz.
Mit seinem über 3’500 m² grossen Schwimmbereich bietet der Badesee auch ambitionierten Schwimmern genügend Raum, um ihre Trainingseinheiten zu absolvieren. An seiner tiefsten Stelle misst der See 3.80 m.
Angrenzend zum Schwimmbereich im Badesee bietet die Grossabünt auf 2700 Quadratmetern sehr gepflegte und erholsame Liege- und Aufenthaltswiesen. Die Atmosphäre ist bezaubernd, da das leicht terrassierte Gelände offen, frei und durch die naturnahe Gestaltung mit individueller Note gestaltet ist.

Schaan hat eine Fläche von etwa 26 Quadratkilometern und ist von Bergen und Wäldern umgeben. Schaan ist eine charmante Stadt, die viele Sehenswürdigkeiten und Aktivitäten bietet. Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. The Rhine is the longest and largest body of water in Liechtenstein. The only naturally formed lake in Liechtenstein is the Gampriner Seelein, which was not formed until 1927 by a flooding of the Rhine with enormous erosion. In addition, there are other artificially created lakes, which are mainly used to generate electricity. One of them is the Steg Reservoir, the largest lake in Liechtenstein.
Mountains
About half of Liechtenstein's territory is mountainous.[48] Liechtenstein lies entirely in the Rhaetikon and is thus – depending on the classification of the Alps – assigned to the Eastern Alps (two-part division of the Alps) or the Central Alps (three-part division of the Alps).
The highest point of Liechtenstein is the Vordere Grauspitz (Vordergrauspitz) with an altitude of 2599 m above sea level, while the lowest point is the Ruggeller Riet with an altitude of 430 m above sea level.
In total, there are 32 mountains in Liechtenstein with an altitude of at least 2000 meters. The Falknishorn, at 2452 meters above sea level, is the fifth highest mountain in Liechtenstein and represents the southernmost point of the country. The Liechtenstein-Graubünden-Vorarlberg border triangle is the Naafkopf (2570 m above sea level).[48]
