Gozo - is it worth visiting?
Although Malta`s second largest island Gozo isn’t big, its attitude makes up for its size. A tiny island of 67 km², yet it’s jam-packed full of hidden treasures that delight all that stumble upon them.
When our friend Giovann Attard told us, he was coming back home from London (to Gozo), we knew we had to take the opportunity and create a video about his successful life story.
- he gives advice on habits to acquire to become successful in life (in fact, all successful people have these particular habits in common)
- his passion turned him into a highly successful (yet humble) person from an ordinary person
Everyone desires of success but it comes only to one that is capable of it!
There are no secret tips or formulas for becoming rich! There is always hard work behind it! Successful people do not become that way overnight. What most people see at a glance wealth, a great career, purpose is the result of hard work and hustle over time.
IMPORTANT!! Success means different things to all of us, but the only version of success that matters is yours!
This video tells you a story about a young professional from a tiny Island of Gozo, who was working hard to fulfill his dream to become a chef and work in a famous restaurant in London, UK.
Together with Giovann, we are trying to showcase the beauty of Gozo, its hidden gems, culture and local people`s life.
He started his career at Kempinski San Lawrence in Gozo where he was working and gaining new cooking experience. At the moment, he is working at Sicilian Restaurant called Norma in the heart of London.
He loves using fresh ingredients whilst cooking and every time he has some free, he enjoys exploring London or visiting his family in Gozo, Malta.
Thank you for watching!
Latest News!
Giovann Attart has been chosen to take part in the exclusive Master Chef The Professionals, were a group of professional chefs compete against other in a cook-off in an attempt to win the coveted title of best chef! We wish you good luck Giovann!

2:12 Villa Rundle Garden Triq Ninu Cremona, Victoria, Island of Gozo, Malta
Right next to the Duke Shopping Centre these delightful gardens are beautifully maintained and a lovely way to while away an hour or so. Some lovely statues and some impressive plants and trees, some of which, were planted over 100 years ago. A lot of thought has gone into the use of space and colour in this garden and the centrepiece bridge is lovely.
6:08 The Citadel Victoria, Island of Gozo, Malta
Once in Gozo, one should surely go to the Citadel. With only a few families living within the Citadel walls, and the magnificent baroque Cathedral of Gozo, the Gozitan Law Courts and the Bishop's Palace at the piazza, this place will take you back in time and helps you imagine of how live was back in the days.
There's a visitors' Centre, the Cathedral Museum, the Museum of Archaeology, the Folklore Museum, the Gozo Nature Museum, the Old Prison, the Old Gunpowder Magazine, the Grain Silos, the Battery and the World War II Shelter. So if you're into history, there's a lot to see.
Just walk in the Citadel's narrow streets, and appreciate the calmness it is surrounded by.
9:20 Ta' Pinu National Shrine

EDEN DESTINATIONS IN MALTA & GOZO
There are six EDEN award-winning destinations in the Maltese Islands: Senglea, Mellieha and the Hamlet of Manikata, Gharb, Nadur, Kercem - the Hamlet of Santa Lucija and Xaghra.
The EDEN initiative is an initiative promoting sustainable tourism development models across the EU. It is based on national competitions that take place every other year and result in the selection of a tourist ‘destination of excellence ‘ for each participating country. Through the selection of destinations, EDEN effectively achieves the objective of drawing attention to the values, diversity and common features of European tourist destinations.
This promotional video produced by MTA was launched at a special conference held on 27 October 2016 at Mellieha Holiday Centre. An itinerary of the six destinations was also launched during the Conference. The event and the itinerary are co-funded by the European Commission and the Ministry for Tourism.

TA' PINU National Shrine | Gharb, Gozo | Malta | Tour April 2023
The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Blessed Virgin of Ta' Pinu (Maltese: Santwarju Bażilika tal-Madonna ta' Pinu) is a Roman Catholic minor basilica and national shrine located some 700 meters (2,300 ft) from the village of Għarb on the island of Gozo, the sister island of Malta.
Pope Pius XI granted a Pontifical decree of coronation, Marianum exstat Sanctuarium towards its venerated Marian image, the Blessed Virgin of Ta' Pinu on 24 May 1935. The Archbishop of Tarsus, Cardinal Alexis Lépicier signed and the Regent of Apostolic Dataria, Giuseppe Guerri notarized the decree via the Sacred Congregation of Rites. The coronation of the image took place on 20 June 1935.
HISTORY:
The origins of the Shrine of Our Lady of Ta' Pinu are unknown. It was first recorded in the archives of the Curia in Gozo when Bishop Domenico Cubelles paid a visit to the chapel. This noted that the chapel had just been rebuilt and belonged to the noble family of The Gentile.
In 1575 the apostolic visitor Pietro Dusina was delegated by Pope Gregory XIII to visit the Maltese Islands. In his pastoral visit to the church, he found that it was in a terrible state. He ordered the church to be closed and demolished and its duties passed to the parish church, now the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Gozo. When demolition began the workman broke his arm while striking the first blow. This was taken as an omen that the chapel should not be demolished. The church was the only chapel on the island to survive Dusina's decree ordering the demolition of other similar chapels.
Pinu Gauci became the procurator of the church in 1598 and its name was changed from Of the Gentile to Ta` Pinu, meaning Of Philip. In 1611 Gauci offered money for its restoration. It was rebuilt, with a stone altar erected and investments for liturgical services provided. Gauci also commissioned the painting of the Assumption of Our Lady for the main altar. This was done in 1619 by Amadeo Perugino.
In 1883, Karmni Grima was walking past the now run-down church and heard a voice asking her to recite three Hail Marys. Over the following years, miracles were attributed to the grace of Our Lady of The Assumption to whom the church was dedicated. Francis Portelli also heard the voice coming from the painting. Francis Merċieċa also known as Frenċ tal-Għarb was a devout of Our Lady of ta' Pinu and healed a lot of people in her name.
The works for the new church began on 30 May 1920 on the initiative of the church's rector Monsignor Ġużepp Portelli and was consecrated on 31 August 1932. It was built in a neo-romantic style. Inside the church, there are 6 mosaics, 76 colored windows, and many ex-votos. The bell tower is 61 meters high.
Pope John Paul II celebrated mass on the parvise of the shrine during his visit to the island of Gozo on 26 May 1990.[4] On 18 April 2010, when visiting Malta, Pope Benedict XVI donated and placed a Golden Rose in front of the holy image of Our Lady Of Ta' Pinu which was brought over from Gozo to Malta for this special occasion. The Pope invited everybody to pray to Mary under the title Queen of the Family.
On 2 April 2022, after visiting the Chapel of Our Lady and praying there in silence, Pope Francis presided at a Prayer Meeting on the parvis of the church.
The church building is listed on the National Inventory of the Cultural Property of the Maltese Islands.

Visit Gozo Island, Malta Tourist Attractions | Travel Vlog
Malta is one of those places that’s so much more than you’d expect. I mean, for such a tiny island country (not forgetting Gozo, too), it really packs a punch of gorgeous sites to see. Some of the best things to do in Malta are things that you might not even expect to see, with a whole heap of spots that are too darn amazing to miss.
To be honest, the thing I love most about Malta is how diverse it is, which has a lot to do with its spot in the gorgeous Mediterranean Sea.
Without reeling off a complete history of Malta, the islands have become crossroads of culture over thousands of years (which, in my opinion, makes it very special).
The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Blessed Virgin of Ta' Pinu (Maltese: Santwarju Bażilika tal-Madonna ta' Pinu) is a Roman Catholic minor basilica and national shrine located some 700 metres (2,300 ft) from the village of Għarb on the island of Gozo, the sister island of Malta.
