Our visit Nuremberg travel guide documentary covers some of the top attractions including a food guide (Nuremberg Bratwurst, beer and pretzels), top sightseeing tourist attractions and the city by day including visiting castles, churches and museums. We also cover off-the-beaten-path outdoor activities you won't find in a typical Nuremberg tourism brochure, Nuremberg itinerary or Nuremberg, Germany city tour.

10 Things to do in Nuremberg, Germany travel guide video transcript:

We started our day by taking the U-bahn to the centre of town and getting off at Lorenzkirche. This put us on the south bank of the Pegnitz River, where we took the opportunity to browse some markets before visiting St Lorenz Church.

This is a beautiful gothic church complete with pointed vaults, stained glass windows, and sculptures.

From there we walked across one of the city’s many bridges and continued on to the Beautiful Fountain (yes, that’s the name), searching for a bit of good luck.

One of Nuremberg’s most famed attractions is the Imperial Castle located in the northwest end of the Old Town. The castle is a testament to the power of the Holy Roman Empire during the middle ages.

And we couldn’t come all the way to Nuremberg and not try the famed Nuremberger sausage! We went to Bratwursthäusle, right in the heart of the Old Town by St Sebaldus Church.

Later that afternoon we went into Nuremberg’s deep underground on a tour of the historic beer cellars. Nuremberg has been a beer brewing city for centuries.

While in town, we also took a walk down Weißgerbergasse, which may just be one of the prettiest streets in Nuremberg. This curved cobbled street is lined with half-timbered houses.

Albrecht Dürer’s one time home is now a museum dedicated to his life and work. He was a German Renaissance artist across many mediums, but he is best known for revolutionizing printmaking and elevating it as an art form. At certain times of day, they offer a guided tour with an actress who plays the role of Agnes Dürer, the artist’s wife.

The bridge we were looking for is the Heilig-Geist-Spital, or the Holy Spirit Hospital. It’s not a bridge in the usual sense of the word, rather a medieval building that sits across part of the Pegnitz River.

On a more serious note, we couldn’t leave Nuremberg without also visiting the Dokuzentrum, also known as the The Documentation Center Nazi Party Rallying Grounds.

And that’s a wrap for a our guide to Nuremberg, Germany. If you have any other suggestions of cool things to do in Nuremberg, feel free to share those with fellow travellers in the comments below.

This is part of our Travel in Germany video series showcasing German food, German culture and German cuisine.

Best of Berching 🇩🇪

My wife and I have spent a weekend in Berching, a historical town in the Altmühltal region of Germany. Although I know this region very well, I have never thought of visiting Berching, it just didn't sound interesting. Two weeks ago, on a random stop on my way between Frankfurt and Munich, I finally discovered, what a pleasant and beautiful town it is. So I decided to come back.

Berching is a great place to stay for a few days if you like to explore the region. It has everything you'll need: hotels, shops, different types of restaurants and even two cocktail bars. It is not overly touristy and people are extremely friendly.

Places to see in ( Dresden - Germany ) Neumarkt

Places to see in ( Dresden - Germany ) Neumarkt

The Neumarkt in Dresden is a central and culturally significant section of the Dresden inner city. The historic area was almost completely wiped out during the Allied bomb attack during the Second World War. After the war Dresden fell under Soviet occupation and later the communist German Democratic Republic who rebuilt the Neumarkt area in socialist realist style and partially with historic buildings. However huge areas and parcels of the place remained untilled. After the fall of Communism and German reunification the decision was made to restore the Neumarkt to its pre-war look.

Due to its location on a slight rise above the flood-prone Elbe River, the Neumarkt was one of the first areas of Dresden's old city to be settled, with a small village arising around the old Frauenkirche. However, it was not actually located within the city walls until the city was expanded in 1530, from which point on, the old town contained two market squares. The square located around the Kreuzkirche was renamed Altmarkt (German for Old Market), and the square surrounding the Frauenkirche was named the Neumarkt (New Market).

During the reign of August II the Strong, a great number of structures in Dresden were built in Baroque style, including the present-day Frauenkirche, and numerous other houses surrounding the Neumarkt. After damage sustained to buildings through artillery fire in the Seven Years' War, a number of structures on the Neumarkt were rebuilt in the Rococo and late Baroque styles.

During the 19th century and into the early 20th century, the Neumarkt remained largely unchanged, except for renovations to the Johanneum completed in 1873 and the construction of the Albertinum and Academy of Arts completed at the end of the 1800s.

During the bomb attack on Dresden in February 1945, the area around the Neumarkt was almost entirely destroyed in the resulting firestorm. The main structure of the Frauenkirche survived the initial bombing and firestorm, before collapsing a few days later. During the 1950s and 60s under rule of the German Democratic Republic, the Neumarkt and Altmarkt formed a mostly vacant area through the middle of the old city, save for the ruins of the Frauenkirche standing as a memorial to the horrors of war. The two squares were separated by the widened Wilsdruffer Strasse, then from 1969 by the Palace of Culture, and then later by new apartment blocks.

The completion of the reconstructed Dresden Frauenkirche in 2005 marked the first step in rebuilding the Neumarkt. Organisations such as the Gesellschaft Historischer Neumarkt Dresden actively encourage an historically-faithful reconstruction of the structures around the Neumarkt, giving an outward appearance as close as possible to that from before 1945. The areas around the square have been divided into 8 Quarters, with each being rebuilt as a separate project, the majority of buildings to be rebuilt either to the original structure or at least with a facade similar to the original.

( Dresden - Germany ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting Dresden . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Dresden - Germany

Detailed tour at Wolfstein Castle near Neumarkt. (Bavaria/Germany) Historic and good.

Welcome back to a new video. In the past and from some friends, I have heard many good things about the ruined castle Wolfstein. Somethimes when I went by car at the highway A3 and at a clear weather, I saw the castle Wolfstein at the top of the hill not far away of the small town Newmarket. (Neumarkt, Oberpfalz) As I went with my car from the highway via some outside areas of Newmarket, up to the parking store, I was woundering that some houses were built in front of the moat. A bus line with a modern bus station were also happened behind the place where I`ve parked my car. I went over this old wooden bridge and visitet the castle with different feelings. Enjoy the video!

At the year 1120, in the middle age, the nobel men Ulrich of Wolfenstein gives the first dokuments of the castle. From this year to 1462, as the last person of the nobel family Wolfsteinnamed Hans of Wolfstein died, castle Wolfstein became own of the king of Boemen. This king was very proud of this castle, according to historic descriptions. In 1504 in the war Landshuter Erbfolge, (german language) castle Wolfstein was suffering from from destroying and fighting. Many walls and gates were broken and, long years the discussions were about the rebuild of the castle. Later in 1670 the community of Newmarket gave this castle the time of the natur and us since this year a lost place. Today castle Wolfstein is a popular castle by tourists, castle lovers. At night the building is popular for gost stories and people who love it to enjoy a stary night.
Over the history, castle Wolfstein has a nice but unknown say. Someone in the past, from the district Court, in the past the house of palatine a underground tunnel were happened between the palatine and the ruind castle. At the end of the tunnel, in the basement of the ruined castle should be a steal box with a black poodle and next to the box a large iron rod.

Join me on this tour from the parking store, via the old wooden brigde to the castle. It was still morning and a typical weather for this spring time in middle europe. The bushes were bloom and the birds were chirp. I was still the only person at this time there. I visitet the different walls, went in the main building where in the middle age have left the nobel people, the knights and all people which left at this stone building. To my surprise, the tower was currently closed and not open to see. But this was not all. I saw old fountain which was the onlyst place to came on water for everybody who has lived at the castle in the past. Before I gone, I spent time at the outlook point. There you can see the town Newmarket and on a clear weather to the franconian swiss and Nuremberg. I thought, at night, this place is perfect for looking for ghost`s and mystery voices. A I returned to my car, many poeple came by their own car for visiting the lost place. I had the luck, that I have been there at the morning hour.

Streifzug durch Freystadt (Landkreis Neumarkt)

Historischer Stadtkern
