Křivoklát Castle, Czech Republic - Best Travel Destination
Křivoklát Castle is located in the Central Bohemia Region of the Czech Republic. Křivoklát was founded in the 12th century, belonging to the kings of Bohemia. During the reign of Přemysl Otakar II a large, monumental royal castle was built, later rebuilt by king Václav IV and later enlarged by king Vladislav of Jagellon. The castle was damaged by fire several times. It was turned into a harsh prison and the building slowly deteriorated. During the 19th century, the family of Fürstenberg became the owners of the castle and had it reconstructed after a fire in 1826. Today the castle serves as a museum, tourist destination and place for theatrical exhibitions. Collections of hunting weapons, Gothic paintings and books are stored there. The village of Křivoklát, founded in the 14th century, grew slowly below the castle.

Frýdlant (Czech pronunciation: [ˈfriːdlant ˈft], also known as Frýdlant v Čechách; German: Friedland in Böhmen) is a town in Liberec District in the Liberec Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 7,400 inhabitants. The historic town centre is well preserved and is protected by law as an urban monument zone.

This early Gothic castle was built at the beginning of the 13th century and then extended bit by bit. Around 1600, the buildings of the outer bailey (and the chapel) were added and shortly afterwards, these were converted into a Renaissance residential palace. At the end of the 17th century, the complex was hit by a number of fires, after which renovations in Baroque style took place. In the castle complex, about 50 rooms can be visited with a guide. On display are furniture and objects from the last four centuries as well as the furnished rooms used by the last private owner until 1945. Since 1945, the estate has been state property. This castle was the first castle in Europe to admit visitors (since 1801).

We took a day trip from Prague starting at 7am first by bus to the city of Liberec then switched to a train for a 30 minute ride to visit Frýdlant Castle.
The tour of the castle is 2 hours long and you visit over 50 rooms. Once finished, we took the train back to Liberec and explored the city for the rest of the day.

Our main stop was Hotel Ještěd (pronounced Yeshted), you can either hike up, I estimate it to take about 1.5-2 hours or pay for a cable car ride up and down.
There are several nice viewpoints there and also you can grab a meal or dessert, warm drink inside.

Frýdlant Castle. In the 13th century the castle was held by the Ronovec family (Ronovci) until the middle of the century when Častolov of Ronov was forced to return the castle and other property to King Ottokar II.[6]

Cmentarz zaskakuje rozległością, pięknym wyglądem oraz liczbą okazałych niegdyś grobowców, a znajduje się ich ponad sto. Wszystko się zmieniło po roku 1945, groby zostały zaniedbane i zniszczone. Dopiero w 2016 roku, dzięki projektowi uczniów szkół podstawowych, wszystkie opuszczone groby zostały wyremontowane i uporządkowane.

Ratusz ma narożną wieżę o wysokości 48 m, w której znajduje się mechanizm zegarowy oraz galeria widokowa dostępna dla zwiedzających. Co godzinę ze szczytu wieży rozbrzmiewa hejnał z różnymi melodiami.

Na placu przykościelnym można zobaczyć kolumnę maryjną z XVIII wieku.

W domu przysłupowym (najstarszy budynek we Frýdlancie) znajduje się mechaniczna szopka z wyjątkowo zachowanym dawnym mechanizmem, wykonanym przez Gustava Simona (1873–1953), budował ją przez 60 lat. Na powierzchni o wymiarach 4x2m umieścił 130 ruchomych i 50 statycznych figur.

Historia zamku rozpoczęła się w XIII. wieku. Dużą rolę w jego historii odegrał Albrecht Wallenstein, wyrazista postać z okresu wojny trzydziestoletniej. Dziś w pałacu można obejrzeć zbiory porcelany i szkła, mebli wyposażenia pałacowego, broni. Znajduje się tu także galeria obrazów malarzy okresu baroku oraz wyjątkowa kolekcja fajek.

Zamek i pałac Frýdlant wznosi się na bazaltowej skale nad rzeką Smědá. Bazaltowe słupy widoczne pod zamkiem, zwane są „diabelskimi organami”.

Frýdlant je jedním z nejnavštěvovanějších historických objektů v České republice.
Původní hrad z poloviny 13. století, rozšířený v 16. století o renesanční zámek, se stal v 17. století majetkem slavného vojevůdce Albrechta z Valdštejna. Poslední vlastníci, Clam-Gallasové, zpřístupnili již roku 1801 hradní sbírky veřejnosti, čímž se Frýdlant stal nejstarším hradním muzeem ve střední Evropě. Do areálu hradu se vstupuje stejně jako před dvěma sty lety padacím mostem.
