Golden, Colorado - History & Information - #26/100

Golden was one of Colorado's first established communities beginning as a mining camp in 1859. At first it was very prominent, even becoming Territory Capital, but when Denver won the railroad, Golden had to turn to other alternatives including the Colorado School of Mines, Coors Brewery and coal mining. Today, Golden has become quite prestigious with the School of Mines regularly listed as one of America's Top 25 colleges, plus abundant recreation and vivid nightlife available year round.

Ski Lodge consists me and the rest of my family as we explore the great State of Colorado and more. Initially created to get everyone out of the house, it has turned into a vast collection of history, photography and general information. We are most active at facebook.com/skilodgecolorado
