TURKMENISTAN Night Train | Turkmenabat to Ashgabat Travel
This is what taking a night train is like in Turkmenistan! After crossing the border from Uzbekistan, we took the 27 Manat night train from Turkmenabat to the capital city, Ashgabat.
At the current black market exchange rates in September 2018, 19 Manat to the $US, the train cost $1.40 for a bed in a sleeper compartment for 6 people.
This was the beginning of an incredible journey across Turkmenistan. We only had a 5 day transit visa as were travelling independently, so unfortunately only got a brief glimpse of this fascinating country.

7 Days Compilation In Turkmenistan | VLOG
I had the privilege to spend a week in one of the world's most interesting countries. :)
Here are videos/compilations of our time there. I went with Wander expeditions.
Derweze firecrater, “Gates of Hell”, desert of Turkmenistan
On the motorcycle around the Caspian Sea. Visiting the Derweze firecrater in central Turkmenistan. Desert of Karakum. Gas krater (2017) Iran, Turkmenistan, Usbekistan 20.000km motorcycle journey. BMWr100gs
A wonderful hotel in the heart of Ashgabat. Hospitable staff. Restaurant with the most delicious menu! I advise everyone Manti (local dumplings) and Valday style chicken . Well, to be in Turkmenistan and not try the melon with cognac is a crime!

Part 125 - Crossing the border to Uzbekistan - World Cycle Tour - 2018
Saturday 14th July.
Crossing the border to Uzbekistan.
We left Mary and crossed the desert to Turkmenabat. After lunch in a Silk Road restaurant we continued to the Farap Uzbekistan border. The crossing went smoothly with friendly border guards on both sides. Then it was time to start cycling again. Only 20km but in the afternoon desert heat, it was hard work. We stopped many times and eventually found some shade under a tree. After a rest to cool down we continued and the last part of the ride was much more comfortable as the evening progressed. We are staying in a hotel in a small town. We will rest here tomorrow before making an early start for Bukhara on Monday.

This Country JUST BANNED Anyone from Visiting...
Have you ever asked yourself what country is most difficult to get into? If you're an avid traveller you may want to explore every corner of the globe, but some places are much harder to get into than others! Turkmenistan, deep in the heart of Central Asia, is one of those countries...

Follow my journey as I fly domestically in Turkmenistan onboard Turkmenistan Airlines B737-700 from Turkmenabat to Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan. This flight was about 50 minutes going in the southbound direction. Very rare footage of a secluded country so you don't want to miss this!
