Based on multi-disciplinary investigations, Erez Ben-Yosef concluded that the copper mines at Timna formed part of an extensive economic/industrial system operated by the Edomites.
People are fascinated by King Solomon and his fabled wisdom, fantastic wealth, and tantalizing liaison with the beauteous Queen of Sheba. For 3,000 years, there have been numerous efforts made to locate King Solomon’s mines, and in the last year alone, there have been two cable television documentaries investigating recent discoveries confirming that the legendary mines are in Timna Park, located deep in the deserts of Southern Israel. This is the most important archaeological breakthrough since the naming of King Solomon’s Pillars there 90 years ago by world-famous archaeologist Nelson Glueck.
For the last 70 years, many archaeologists assumed that King Solomon was at best a minor local chieftain, simply because no credible evidence had been found documenting his Biblical realm in 900 BCE. However, discoveries beginning 10 years ago at Timna, led by Erez Ben-Yosef, a young articulate archaeologist (who sports a leather hat but does not carry a bullwhip), have upended these theories. Ben-Yosef examined the 1,000 copper mines at Timna and found materials which could be carbon-dated. He was quite surprised to find that they were from 900 BCE, corresponding with the specified period of Solomon’s rule in the Bible.
This year, Ben-Yosef made further revolutionary discoveries of food, dung, and pristine clothing amazingly well-preserved by the region’s dry climate, which was also carbon-dated to the Solomonic period. Based on multi-disciplinary investigations, Ben-Yosef concluded that the copper mines formed part of an extensive economic/industrial system operated by the Edomites, a local tribe also described in the Bible. Furthermore, it appears the Edomites smelted copper ore and traded it in exchange for passage through Solomon’s territory. As part of the trade, Solomon also supplied luxury foods—not available locally—to Edomite artisan smelters at the mines. Ben-Yosef states that “if King Solomon had mines, they were of copper, and we're here [at Timna].”

My name is Zahi Shaked
In 2000 I became a registered licensed tourist guide.
My dedication in life is to pass on the ancient history of the Holy Land.

Following upon many years of travel around the world, which was highlighted by a very exciting emotional and soul-searching meeting with the Dalai Lama, I realized that I had a mission. To pass on the history of the Holy Land, its religions, and in particular, the birth and development of Christianity.

In order to fulfill this calling in the best way possible, I studied in depth, visited, and personally experienced each and every important site of the ancient Christians. I studied for and received my first bachelors degree in the ancient history of the Holy Land, and am presently completing my studies for my second degree.(Masters)

Parralel to my studies, and in order to earn a living, I was employed for many years in advertising. What I learned there was how to attract the publics attention, generate and, increase interest, and assimilate information. All this I use as tools to describe, explain and deepen the interest in the sites that we visit. From my experience, I have learned that in this way, the Holy Land becomes more than just history, and that the large stones that we see scattered about in dissaray, join together one by one until they become - a Byzantine Church.

Entering America's Only Polygamist Town

This is one of the strangest stories I've ever told, and ironically, it takes place in my home state of Arizona.

The story takes place in a small rural town called Colorado City, where the FLDS church rules the land (Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) -- And I was guided by former member, Sam, who runs the amazing YouTube channel @GrowingUpinPolygamy.

In Colorado City, it's acceptable for men to be polygamists, or have multiple wives. Many have 3 or 4 wives, but the ruler of the community who is a God-like figure named Warren Jeffs, had 85 wives until he was thrown in prison on a life sentence for sexual assault on minors (among other charges).

Through Sam, I was able to get special access to this community and the things that I experienced will leave you speechless. I was even able to interview Warren Jeff's 65th wife -- who shares things that she never before shared on camera.

I'd love to hear from you in the comments down below. What do you think about Colorado City, Warren Jeffs, and the FLDS Church?

The Story of Purim:
Purim is one of the most joyous and festive days in the Jewish calendar. It is celebrated on the 14th of the Hebrew month of Adar and commemorates the events described in the Book of Esther. This book tells the story of how the Jewish people, living in Persia, were saved from destruction through the courage and wisdom of Queen Esther and her uncle Mordechai.

The main story involves the Persian king, Ahasuerus, who unknowingly married a Jewish woman, Esther. When the king’s advisor, Haman, devised a plan to exterminate all Jews in the empire, Esther courageously revealed her Jewish identity to the king and pleaded for the safety of her people. Thanks to Esther and Mordechai’s actions, the Jews were saved, and Haman's plot was thwarted.

Purim is celebrated with several key traditions:
🎭 Costumes and Parades – People dress up in colorful costumes, symbolizing the hidden nature of the miracle in the Book of Esther.
📖 Reading the Megillah (Book of Esther) – The story of Esther is read aloud in synagogues, reminding the community of the salvation of the Jewish people.
🎁 Mishloach Manot – The tradition of giving food gifts to friends and family, spreading joy and goodwill.
🍽️ Festive Meal (Seudah) – A joyous meal filled with traditional foods and drinks.
💝 Matanot LaEvyonim – Giving charity to those in need, ensuring that all can participate in the celebration.

Purim is a day of joy, fun, and unity, reminding us of the importance of courage, faith, and togetherness in the face of adversity.
