ENSENADA MEXICO 1/20/24 | THINGS TO DO & PLACES TO VISIT IN CRUISE PORT | CARNIVAL RADIANCE
I visited the Ensenada cruise port on 1/20/24 while on a Carnival Radiance 3-day cruise. If you are looking for some things to do in the port of Ensenada, this video shows me walking around town and visiting a few different places.
Here are some of the things I did during this visit: - I visited the Riviera where Bar Andaluz is located. Bar Andaluz is one of the two places in Ensenada to claim to be the birthplace of the margarita (the other is Hussongs Cantina).
- I walked through an alternative area to visit near the cruise port that has a more al fresco type of environment for dining, drinking, live music, etc. It's definitely a different vibe than the area where all the shopping, etc. is done downtown.
- I visited a speakeasy that is located below (and is also part of) Mithos restaurant. I also did a quick tour of the bar and brewery located in the same upper level area of the Mithos restaurant. SIDE NOTE: I visited this place back in February of 2023. It was under different ownership and/or management at the time. If you go to the 16:38 mark of the video link below, you can get a little more information there.
I'd love to know what you think about this video, please feel free to leave a comment below. I would appreciate it if you could subscribe to my channel and click the bell to be notified of any new videos. Thanks for watching!
On this video we include the top 10+ favorite spots to visit on a road trip to Baja California and Baja California Sur in Mexico. We mention various surf sports like playa Cerritos, Acalpulquito, Scorpion bay, La Fonda, Playa San Miguel as well as beaches with calm blue water like mulege, Santispac, Requeson, Playa Balandra, Lovers Beach, Divorce beach, Medano beach and Chileno bay. We also discuss locations with oasis and missions located in Loreto, San Ignacio and Mulege. We include great snorkel spots as well as free beach front camping and low cost camping for Vanlife as well as tent camping. We also show beautiful shots of the famous Arch of Cabo San Lucas. Our road trip was done in 2018.
ENSENADA, MEXICO Travel Guide 🇲🇽 The Birthplace of Fish Tacos & Margaritas!

Ensenada, Mexico, one of the first settlements in the Californias (US State and Mexican States of Baja California), has since emerged as a popular cruise ship destination and jump off point to Mexico’s wine region; Valle de Guadalupe, which we will visit in the next episode.
Ensenada is a laid-back coastal city that is famous for delicious seafood. It is also home to the original fish taco, and birthplace of the Margarita; Two reasons alone to take a tour of Ensenada!
After crossing the US/Mexico border at San Ysidro in San Diego to Tijuana on our first day, and taking our Baja Road Trip south, we stopped in Rosarito for breakfast and tacos. Then, Puerto Nuevo for lobster before arriving to our Airbnb in Ensenada last night.
Today, we set out to find the best things to do in Ensenada, and as per usual, it all begins with food.
There are several taco stands that lay claim to the original Baja-style fish taco, but general consensus grants Tacos Fénix the distinct honor of being first, with the same family still serving up this street treat since it opened in 1970.
The fish tacos here are delicious, and so are the shrimp tacos. They are all battered and fried right in front of you, and then you get to pick out your own toppings.
I highly recommend stopping at Tacos Fénix on your Ensenada tour for breakfast (or lunch).
Next, we took a walking tour of Ensenada and visited a popular church and the main downtown area. One recommendation that many of you had on Instagram as the best things to do in Ensenada was to visit Mercado Negro (Black Market), which is the local fish market here.
It was small and smelled like fish (obviously), but it was cool to see where our seafood was coming from.
From Mercado Negro, we continued our food tour of Ensenada to Sabinas Restaurant. Now, this place is actually famous because of a street cart that is usually parked outside called “La Guerrerense.” A Mexican food street cart that is famous for its seafood tostadas.
These Mexican tostadas were smothered with ceviche, avocados, homemade salsas, and both raw and cooked seafood. They are full of flavor and very original. I can see why Sabina has become so famous, and La Guerrerense is a must-visit while visiting Ensenada.
In the afternoon, we set out on a mission to discover the birthplace of the Margarita. In Ensenada, there are two bars that claim to be the original Margarita.
First, Bar Andaluz, at the Riviera Cultural Center in downtown Ensenada claims that a bartender here was given the task of creating a new signature cocktail by then owner Margarita King.
Second, Cantina Hussong’s claims that a bartender was creating new Tequila cocktails when the daughter of German Ambassador (Margarita) came in and tried the cocktail. She liked it and he named it after her.
Both very good stories, both very good margaritas!
If you’re looking for the best things to do in Ensenada, I highly recommend following our tour for the day!
Next up, we head to Valle de Guadalupe, Mexico’s wine region, before heading back north to Tecate and Mexicali!
Stay tuned!!

Bored of being stuck in the US during COVID? Dreaming of partying again? The Valle de Guadalupe is the place for You!
In this video, I will give you the TOP 10 places to visit in Valle de Guadalupe in Baja California, Mexico in 2021. Where to stay, where to eat and what wine you cannot miss out trying in order to make your trip the best it could be! So whether you have already been there or it’s your first time to visit the valley, this video is for you!
I hope you enjoy!
*****Interested in places I mentioned in video?******
Go here for a complete 3 days itinerary:
And Fantastic Airbnb I stayed in Valle de Guadalupe:
1. El Valle RV Park (Barril de vino con tragaluz #2) ! #2 has the best view! Two minutes away is “La cocina de Doña Estela for a Mexican breakfast or just buy cheese and apple pie during a day to have something for breakfast.
2. Casa Santiago en la Ruta del Vino #2 For sleeping in a trailer and to have the most memorable sunrise of your life!
Friends who sign up for Airbnb with my link will get up to $60 off a stay and $13 toward an Airbnb Experience of $50 or more. =====================================
Day 1 La Guerrerense in Ensenada. It’s famous for their special tostadas with sea urchin and snails.
Tienda de quesos “Los Globos”. My favorites are from Ramonetti farm house. They have a rich taste perfect for wine pairing. Don’t forget to try the sponge fresh cheese with rosemary!
Just a few steps to the right, you will see a shop with apple pies unique to the area. They are super rich and full of flavor.
Wineries... Viña de Liceaga. It has decent flavorful wines, but their cypress garden is die for. It smells so good.
Finca Altozano. Chef Placencia cooks on an open fire using vegetables and meat they grow at their farm right there. Their Huge Wine barrels have stairs and it’s the perfect place to admire a 2 hours long sunset. Try their grilled octopus from the Pacific and wood-fired oyster mushrooms. It’s orgazmic. Just don’t forget to make table reservation. It’s always full of people.
Day 2. Enjoy your breakfast looking out onto the mountains as they open up in front of the barril dome Airbnb. Make sure you buy your apple pie and cheese from their kitchen a day before for your breakfast the following day.
Casa Emiliana. It’s my secret sacred wine yard, incredible wine tastings and calm music, reminiscent of Italian Toscana wineries.
Xecue Winery. I recommend going for tasting the reserved wines rather than the younger ones.
For dancing between wineyards at sunset, choose a party at La Justina Valle. You will need to make a reservation by phone in advance. Perfect sounding music and an ambience of lots of beautiful friendly young people. It’s open till 10 pm.
Sleep in a trailer Airbnb Casa Santiago #2.
Day 3 Home-made Lasagna and pizza for a reasonable price at Dona Lupe...they also sell olive oils, jams and sauces to take home. Its to die for!
Vena winery. it’s quite something to behold. It’s small quantity but high quality production of natural wine without sulfites is impressive in itself.
The climate of Valle de Guadalupe makes it a very dry place and you will probably start thinking of finding a swimming pool. I found an incredible place called Boutique Valle de Guadalupe. The room rate includes breakfast. Where you will also be able to ride a bicycle in the morning and search for grapes and olives to eat. The bicycle use and sampling of grapes and olives is all free. There is also horse riding available for additional price.

WHY I´D LIVE in ENSENADA MEXICO on $1,000 Per Month - Tangerine Travels Clips
Ensenada, Baja California is one city in Mexico that I´d love to live in if I had a budget of $1,000 USD per month. Clip from this Tangerine Travels video: The city has a population of about 500,000 people so it has all the conveniences of a big city. It´s also one of the only coastal cities in Mexico with nice weather year round. In addition to that, Ensenada is located just a couple of hours from California, so if I were to need to go back to the US for any reason, I could easily do so.
