Things to do in El Salvador!
I recently had the privilege to visit the beautiful country of El Salvador! I was amazed by the beauty, the infrastructure, the energy, the culture and hospitality. I started my journey in a town called El Congo (near lago de Coatepeque), where I received my open water diving license certification. After that I booked an Airbnb in a town called Antiguo Cuscatlán located in San Salvador. Fortunately I was able to be a part of their 2 day celebration called “Feast of the Holy Innocents”, which was absolutely incredible. I highly recommend for anyone traveling to El Salvador to visit during that celebration (December 28th - 29th) . Next day I visited the charming towns of Nauhizalco and Ataco where i got to experience the local lifestyle. The next day I went to the El Tunco beach, which is famous for surfing so I had to take my first ever surf lesson. The last day in El Salvador I did a sunrise hike on the largest active volcano in El Salvador called Santa Ana, which was one of the highlights this trip. Oh and last but not least I fell in love with papusas and gained about 10 extra bounds. I have travelled to a lot of places but people of this country had a different kind of love for their current president! This video will show you the incredible time I had in El Salvador!

Did you expect this in New Zealand? When you come to New Zealand, you'll be shocked to see gangs. Gangs in New Zealand are so unafraid of the Police that they ride obnoxiously loud motorcycles so you can hear them a mile away.
They even wear a uniform which includes a gang patch, so you know which gang they're from.
This is how open and obvious organised crime is in New Zealand. And for visitors like my wife, it's shocking.
If you stay away from them, they won't bug ya. But the reality is gangs are known for the drug trade, murder, theft, violence against women, and the list goes on.
There are numerous gangs in New Zealand, of varying criminality, organisation and ethnicity, including outlaw motorcycle gangs, street gangs and ethnically based gangs. A chapter of the Hells Angels motorcycle club was formed in Auckland in 1961, the first Hells Angels chapter outside the US.
Soon after, the Mongrel Mob formed in Hastings and Wellington, developing into a predominantly Māori and Pacific Islander gang and having the largest membership in the country.
Through the 1960s and 1970s, other outlaw motorcycle clubs and ethnically based gangs formed, including another predominantly Māori gang, Black Power (not related to the African-American movement), which grew to rival the Mongrel Mob. from Wikipedia.

El Salvador is a country located in Central America though geographically, it is part of continental North America.
On the southwest, it exits on the Pacific Ocean and is squeezed in between Guatemala and Honduras.
The country of El Salvador is a country that offers a diverse landscape: it boasts impressive countryside with volcanoes and mountains to feast your eyes, a number of gorgeous, secluded beaches for summer lovers, forests for the adventurers and explorers, yet if you were to move away from El Salvador’s nature into its capital, San Salvador, you would encounter an atmosphere of a real cosmopolitan city, filled with restaurants, hotels, shopping opportunities, and a vibrant nightlife.
Overall El Salvador is somewhat safe to visit, though it has many dangers. You should be aware that tourist hotspots, restaurants, shops, and public transportation are places where most thefts and pickpocketing occur, and that violent crime exists on the streets, too.

Lake Coatepeque is a large crater lake surrounded by wooded hills in western El Salvador. Nearby El Congo is its gateway village. In the lake’s southwest corner is Teopán Island, once a sacred site for the ancient Maya. Farther southwest, the Cerro Verde National Park is crossed by a network of trails. Its towering Santa Ana Volcano and the conical Izalco Volcano offer panoramic views over the lake.

Hostels are amazing, but some are better than others, and this is one of my favorites I have ever been to, especially for the price point! Tucked away in the middle of Honduras is a beautiful area with endless hiking, waterfalls, incredible nature, and this amazing hostel. If you are in the area make sure to stop by, you won't want to miss D & D Brewery, Lodge, and Restaurant. Its an amazing budget find and the breakfast is delicious!
El Salvador travel vlog 🇸🇻 Hiking an active volcano (Santa Ana)
After spending 24hrs in Honduras, I travelled to El Salvador and spent a week exploring and hiking an active volcano! Our first spot was in Ataco where we hopped on the back of a pickup and went to visit a waterfall with an incredible rock formation. The rest of our time here was spent relaxing and enjoying the magnificent El Salvadorian sunsets! The highlight of this trip was the hike up Volcan Santa Ana where I came face to face with the active crater! We finished our trip to El Salvador with a few rest days in a beach resort that was full of local families on holiday (Very few international tourists!)
