Places to see in ( New Orleans - USA )

Places to see in ( New Orleans - USA )

New Orleans is a Louisiana city on the Mississippi River, near the Gulf of Mexico. Nicknamed the Big Easy, it's known for its round-the-clock nightlife, vibrant live-music scene and spicy, singular cuisine reflecting its history as a melting pot of French, African and American cultures. Embodying its festive spirit is Mardi Gras, the late-winter carnival famed for raucous costumed parades and street parties.

The things that make life worth living – eating, drinking and the making of merriment – are the air that New Orleans breathes. We hope you’re not reading this at home. We hope you’re in New Orleans, because you’re about to eat better than most others. When it comes to food, New Orleans does not fool around. Well, OK, it does: its playful attitude to ingredients and recipes mixes (for example) alligator sausage and cheesecake into a dessert fit for the gods. This sense of gastronomic play is rooted in both deep traditions – truly, this city has one of the few indigenous cuisines in the country – and, increasingly, a willingness to accommodate outside influences, both in terms of technique and ethnicity.

We're not exaggerating when we say there is either a festival or a parade every week of the year in New Orleans. Sometimes, such as during Mardi Gras or Jazz Fest, it feels like there’s a new party for every hour of the day. At almost any celebration in town, people engage in masking – donning a new appearance via some form of costuming – while acting out the satyric side of human behavior. But the celebrations and rituals of New Orleans are as much about history as hedonism, and every dance is as much an expression of tradition and community spirit as it is of joy.

The Crescent City has suffered plagues, wars, imperial regime changes and devastating floods. Yet, it always wakes up with a smile on its face. This may be because its inhabitants step to an easy beat first laid down three centuries ago. Moving at this relaxed pace, visitors are delighted by the French Creole elegance of the Vieux Carre (French Quarter) or the opulence discovered in a streetcar ride through the Garden District and Uptown.

Anytime of year find live music, amazing Creole and Cajun cuisine, fresh seafood, farmers markets, shopping, nightlife and more. During Mardi Gras season, the city becomes the world’s center. Downtown transforms into an adult playground, while parades in residential areas provide children thrilling entertainment. Each spring, the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival moves the focus to the charming Gentilly area and the Fair Grounds Race Course. But no matter the time of year, New Orleans' calendar overflows in celebration.

New York City's Iconic Halloween Parade: A Spooky Spectacle #shorts #halloween2023

New York City's Iconic Halloween Parade: A Spooky Spectacle

The Halloween Parade in New York City is an annual extravaganza that transforms the streets of Manhattan into a surreal and otherworldly spectacle. This iconic event, held on Halloween night, has become a beloved tradition that draws participants and spectators from far and wide.

As the sun sets on the city, the parade begins its march along Sixth Avenue, stretching from King Street to 15th Street. The streets come alive with a mesmerizing array of more than 50,000 costumed revelers, each showcasing their creativity and Halloween spirit. It's a diverse and inclusive celebration, with attendees donning everything from classic spooky costumes like zombies, ghouls, and witches to imaginative and unexpected outfits like robots and Jedi knights.

Giant puppets tower over the crowds, adding an element of whimsy and surrealism to the event. The air is filled with excitement and anticipation as the parade progresses, and the energy is palpable. Music fills the air, with bands and performers adding to the festive ambiance.

The Halloween Parade is a true reflection of the city's vibrant and diverse culture. It's a place where artistic expression knows no bounds, and where everyone, regardless of age or background, can come together to revel in the magic of Halloween. Spectators line the streets, cheering and taking in the incredible sights and sounds.

This grand procession is not just a parade; it's a manifestation of the city's creativity, community spirit, and love for the Halloween season. It's a night when Manhattan becomes a canvas for the bizarre and beautiful, and where the imagination knows no limits. The Halloween Parade in New York City is a spectacle like no other, leaving indelible memories of a night filled with enchantment, wonder, and a little touch of the macabre.

St Patrick's legacy

There is a reason St Patrick’s Day is one of the most celebrated festivals across the world!

Discover more at

Every year on March 17 the world goes green to celebrate the legacy of St Patrick. And here on the island of Ireland, you’ll find a unique heritage and warm welcome in which to honour our famous patron saint.

Fast facts:

– The first St Patrick’s Day parade was not held in Ireland, but in Boston in the United States in 1737. Ireland was a little further behind – our first parade was held in Waterford in 1903, while Dublin joined the club back in 1931. Today, the parade in Dublin is a huge, colourful, theatrical event that snakes through the historic city centre, with vivid displays and international bands.
–St Patrick died in 461 in Saul, County Down and is buried in the grounds of Down Cathedral in Downpatrick where a memorial stone, made from local Mourne Mountain granite, marks his grave.
– An Irish Franciscan friar named Luke Wadding from Waterford turned March 17 into a feast day. Born in 1558, Wadding died in Rome on 1657 and his remains are interred there in the college of St Isidore’s, which he founded.
– Thought to be either Welsh or Scottish, the exact birthplace of the famous saint is unknown and the subject of some controversy! Once here, he was sent to Slemish Mountain in County Antrim to herd sheep. But on his escape, he had a vision and returned to Ireland to spread the word of Christianity.
–You’ll find every manner of St Patrick’s Day parade all over Ireland, from the biggest in Dublin to the earliest in Dingle, County Kerry, where it kicks off at 6am. There’s a week-long festival in St Patrick’s Country around Newry, Mourne and Down, and a carnival parade and concert in Belfast. The shortest parade in the world used to be in Dripsey, County Cork, from one pub to another.
– Not content with just donning green hats, everything from buildings to rivers goes green for St Patrick's Day. In previous years, the London Eye, Niagra Falls, the Colosseum in Rome, the Empire State building and Christ the Redeemer in Rio, to name but a few, have all turned a shade of green on March 17.
– There are sites all over Ireland associated with St Patrick, which goes to show how far this 5th century saint travelled. Follow St Patrick’s Trail in Northern Ireland and you can visit Armagh's two impressive cathedrals dedicated to the saint, as well as Saul Church and the St Patrick Centre in County Down.
– Before green became the colour of choice, blue was associated with St Patrick. The significance of blue dates back to early Irish mythology and the earliest depictions of the patron saint show him wearing 'St Patrick's blue', as it became known.

Gables Estates in 4K | Miami | Florida | Neighborhood Tour

Explore #GablesEstates and #ArvidaParkway #MiamiNeighborhoodTour
A legendary private community nestled just beyond Old Cutler Road, Gables Estates is one of Coral Gables' richest and most esteemed neighborhoods that feature quiet waterfront living with a modern spin on sophisticated luxury.

Gables Estates is bordered by the shores of beautiful Biscayne Bay, on the southern edge of Coral Gables and east of Old Cutler Road. It encompasses more than 200 acres of shoreline plus a private 200-acre lagoon.

To date, Gables Estates is a community of 192 spacious lots and is part of Florida's most prestigious addresses. It is home to 4,629 residents as of the latest US Census.

Gables Estates, along with Cocoplum, another prestigious waterfront community, serve as Coral Gables' pride and joy.

It is a neighborhood that remains a top choice for ultra-luxury buyers seeking waterfront estates within City Beautiful, one that features deep water and sea-walled waterways that wind throughout its perimeters, highlighting its lush tropical landscaping and foliage.

Meanwhile, each home within Gables Estates is the epitome of grandeur, donning its architectural narrative with a combination of modern floor plans and the rich European style of living.

And, where life on the water is never missed, each property also features no bridges to the bay, making it the idyllic destination for yachtsmen to slip into the azure waters on any given day.

But its unparalleled beauty, both in and around, isn't the only charm Gables Estates holds. Location is also a significant part of its seemingly irresistible allure.

In fact, Gables Estates, despite its peaceful spot on the water, is only a short drive to Coral Gables' charming downtown and Merrick Park, which means residents have easy access to the city whenever they want to enjoy the nightlife, cultural attractions, or world-class entertainment that Miami is famous for.

In these areas, you'll find plenty of restaurants, boutiques, and upscale shopping destinations.

Famous tourist spots like Miracle Mile and Ponce de Leon Boulevard are only a few minutes away from Gables Estates. The same goes for iconic Coral Gables landmarks like Venetian Pool and Biltmore Hotel.

Coral Gables Museum downtown is also a must-visit for those who want to learn more about the city. The gallery's grounds are wide and can be explored on foot, on two wheels, or while canoeing.

For outdoor leisure, the Old Cutler Trail boasts one of Coral Gables' picturesque landscapes, so you'll often see Gables Estates locals frequenting the area for a relaxing stroll or a quick bike ride.

Matheson Hammock Park is another recommended destination for fishing, hiking, or taking gorgeous photographs.

Other attractions include the Actors' Playhouse at Miracle Theatre, Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park, Coral Gables Art Cinema, and Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden.

And much like Cocoplum, the neighborhood is easily accessible from Miami International Airport, Pinecrest, Downtown Miami, Brickell, and Design District too! There's never a dull moment around Gables Estates, that's for sure!
Considered a hidden treasure within South Florida, they say Gables Estates residents are living in perfection, and I can't agree more.

The waterfront community is a manifestation of sub-tropical vibes and palatial mansions, lending it the reputation of the most desirable address in the United States.

It offers world-class facilities and luxurious amenities, such as 24-hour security, private docks, direct access to Biscayne Bay, and other exclusive services and facilities only available to residents and members of Gables Estates Club, Inc.

In fact, to buy a home in Gables Estates, a potential buyer must be sponsored by at least two residents, not including the seller or anyone involved with the sale of a home.

Aside from the said sponsorship, potential residents must undergo thorough background checks, provide business references and bank statements, write a non-refundable check to apply for membership in the homeowners association, and abide by the rule that all Gables Estates homes must be at least 3,000 square feet in size (phew!).

Touching on the Gables Estates real estate, properties in the area are single-family homes, most of which are mansions built from the 1960s to the present and feature three to 10 bedrooms.

Some are bungalows, while others have more than two floors.

Almost all of the Gables Estate properties exceed 3,000 square feet.

These homes are usually from around $10 million to over $50 million.

While on the steep side, the value factors in large living spaces, waterfront location, modern fixtures, and luxurious architecture.

10 MAJOR CHANGES TO CRUISES (New Protocols Updated) / What will cruising be like in 2021 & beyond?

Have you wondered what cruises will be like in 2021 or even in 2022? As cruise lines prepare to start up again in different regions, including the USA, there are major changes to cruising. In this video we go over the new cruise line rules and health protocols that will be in place when cruises resume. We'll look at the latest cruise news and updates, and all information that has been shared by the cruise industry.

In a past video, we went over what changes to cruising would be temporary, and which would be permanent. However as cruising has restarted in Europe and Singapore, and cruise lines prepare to start up when they can from the United States, there is new information and updates you need to know.

While there can still be changes and updates, this is what we know so far about what to expect on cruises in 2021. Cruise lines like MSC., Costa, Tui Cruises with Mein Schiff and Royal Caribbean have been sailing with new protocols to keep passengers and crew safe. Now Royal Caribbean is gearing up to set sail from Israel with the Odyssey of the Seas. Carnival Cruises, Princess Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line and other major cruise lines are also working towards a return to cruising with new updated protocols.

Some of these big changes to cruises are controversial, although for different reasons. Something to remember is that many of the more restrictive changes to cruising in 2021 will be temporary. In this video we go beyond the more obvious changes like wearing masks and no self serve buffet. Can you explore on your own in cruise ports, or will you need to take cruise line excursions? How will air filtration on cruise ships change to be healthier? We also look at how vaccine requirements are being handled by cruise lines, so far. This includes Royal Caribbean which is sailing with the first cruise to have a fully vaccinated crew and passengers (over 16). This has been very exciting cruise news and a first for Royal Caribbean and the cruise industry.

Jumping Cat Monastery on Inle Lake in Myanmar (Video 22 of 24)

Inle Lake is a freshwater lake in the Shan State. It is the second largest lake in Myanmar with an estimated surface area of 44.9 square miles (116 km2), and one of the highest at an elevation of 2,900 feet (880 m). During the dry season, the average water depth is 7 feet (2.1 m), with the deepest point being 12 feet (3.7 m), but during the rainy season this can increase by 5 feet (1.5 m).

The lake is known for its floating markets that rotate around between villages.

Village of Nampan is situated to the south of Ywama village. The whole village is situated on the stilts over the water, which is a traditional way of building houses in Inle Lake. The Oldest pagoda in Inle Lake, Alodaw Pauk Pagoda, is situated in Nampan.

The village of Inphaw Khone, situated to the west of Nampan village, is famous for its traditional weaving workshops. One of the specialty products of Inphaw Khone village is the famous lotus-silk shawl. The delicate fiber strands from lotus shoot were carefully extracted to make strings for the shawl. The process of fiber string extraction from lotus shoot is a tedious and time consuming as well as expensive process. As a result, the shawls made of lotus-silk are very expensive – cost a minimum of US$ 30 for a small shawl. Apart from famous lotus-silk shawl, Inphaw Khone also produce a large quantity of silk and cotton fabric.

The other tourist trap sort of places visited on the trip included a silver smith and a cigar/cigarette maker...

North of Nampan are these famous gardens, where Intha farmers grow flowers, tomatoes, squash and other fruit and vegetables on long wooden trellises supported on floating mats of vegetation. In the morning and afternoon, farmers paddle up and down between the rows tending their crops.

On the western side of the lake, the Nga Hpe Kyaung (Jumping Cat Monastery) is famous for its jumping cats, trained to leap through hoops during the slow hours between scripture recitals. However, my hotel receptionist said: No more jumping cats. The old monks who trained them died. Now they are just sleeping cats...

Since I was joined by a British girl from my hotel and her Mexican/Danish friend who lives in Denmark, the trip was 6k (US$6) instead of 18k but then the boatman said he was only getting 10k or something and that its cheaper to negotiate directly with a boat man.

The Statue of Unity is a testimonial to the life of Sardar Patel, a role model of unity and statesmanship. The tallest statue of the world enjoys a splendidly scenic location facing the Sardar Sarovar Dam, 3.2 kilometres away. This colossal statue stands on the isle of Sadhu-Bet in River Narmada, at Ekta Nagar, District Rajpipla in the Indian State of Gujarat, with the majestic Vindhyachal and Satpuda Mountain Ranges in the backdrop. The statue is fast becoming one of the country’s top tourist attractions.

Aimed to inspire generations, the Statue showcases Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s vision on unity, patriotism, inclusive growth and good governance.

A tributary endeavour to the Iron Man of India, the Statue of Unity is an iconic 182-metre-tall statue situated on the isle of Sadhu-Bet. Located between the Mountain Ranges of Vindhyachal and Satpuda, this monument has many other attractive tourist spots in its proximity such as the Valley of Flowers, the Shoolpaneshwar Sanctuary and sacred temple, the Sardar Sarovar Dam and its water dykes, the scenic Zarvani Falls and majestic palaces of Rajpipla. The grand monument along with a picturesque backdrop makes it an ideal destination for eco-tourism.

The Government of Gujarat had assigned the task of constructing the Statue of Unity to the ‘Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Rashtriya Ekta Trust’ (SVPRET), chaired by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat. SVPRET has executed the project and undertaken all activities related to the construction of Statue of Unity through the Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited (SSNNL).

A high-power Governing Body, headed by the Chief Minister of Gujarat and Executive Committee, headed by the Chief Secretary, Govt. of Gujarat respectively and comprising of other senior Secretaries, take care of various project related decisions.

SVPRET had appointed a consortium comprising Turner Project Management India Private Limited, Meinhardt India Private Limited and Michael Graves & Associates Inc., as PMC (Project Management Consultant). Many of the consortium members have been involved in developing some of the world’s tallest structures, including the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.

SSNNL management team & its engineers have built one of the tallest concrete gravity dams in the world and an irrigation system, which is one of the top irrigation networks of the world.

India’s largest engineering and construction company Larsen & Toubro was assigned the responsibility for designing, engineering, procurement, construction, operation and maintenance of the project.

Noted sculptor Ram V. Sutar, a Padma Bhushan Awardee, who has created over 40 monumental sculptures over the past 40 years was designated as the sculptor for the Statue of Unity.

A countrywide program which covered several villages for ‘Loha Campaign’ were conducted during the year 2013-14. A total of 169,078 used farm tools and soil samples were collected from farmers across the country as their voluntary contribution to the iconic project. In this `Loha Campaign’ which is believed to be one of the largest social mobilization drives in the world, 134.25 metric tonnes of iron was received from villages across the nation. This iron was converted into reinforcement bars weighing 109.17 metric tonnes and used in the construction of the project. Soil collected from various parts of the country was used to make the symbolic ‘Wall of Unity’.

The Statue of Unity stands as a naturalistic and inspirational portrayal of Sardar Patel, donning his characteristic garments and a pose that reflects dignity, confidence, iron will and kindness. Bronze cladding adds richness and visual appeal to the Statue. Sophisticated, state-of-the-art surveying technologies like, Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) and Telescopic Logging were used for the construction of the Statue.

The construction of this National Monument utilised approximately 70,000 metric tonnes of cement, 18,500 metric tonnes of reinforcement bars and 6,000 metric tonnes of structural steel. The surface area of about 22,500 square metres has been clad with around 1,700 metric tonnes of bronze.

The concrete towers which form the statue's legs contain two elevators each. Each lift can carry 26 people at a time to the viewing gallery in just over 30 seconds. The gallery is located at a height of 153 metres (502 ft) and can hold up to 200 people.
