Today I'm going to share 10 must see things to do in Wiltshire, Somerset and the Cotswolds (some of which you can do a day trip from London) including Stonehenge, Dunney Castle and Glastonbury.

We spent a week here in autumn doing a pet sit and watching 2 lovely dogs, it gave us a base to explore this beautiful magical and mystical area and enjoy a great holiday.

You Need To See These Places In Wiltshire
You Need To See These Places In Wiltshire// Wiltshire is one pretty county I'm telling you! Here are some places that are well worth a visit and I'm showing you only a tiny fraction.
If you're a fan of Poldark (who isn't?), you need to visit Great Chalfield Manor which is a National Trust property. And when it comes to quintessential English villages/towns, you will instantly fall in love with Bradford on Avon and Castle Combe. Did you know that Castle Combe has the most romantic hotel too? If you want to book a very special stay, I think The Manor House is perfect. Makes you think of the film The Holiday. I can already picture Amanda and Graham.
Hope you like the video.x

10 Most Hated Towns in England
What are the most hated towns in England? No matter how good a country is, every part of it can’t be loved equally. In fact, some parts of it are bound to be hated. Even the most fanatic lover of a country will love some parts of it less than others. I have heard some people complaining about some towns in England, the home of the Queen that some people are dying to live and work in. That prompts research into the 10 most hated towns in England.
This ranking is based mainly on the comments and complaints of residents of England and visitors to those towns. But it’s not limited to that since some complaints can be completely baseless. We dig deeper in researching these 10 most hated towns in England.
10. Slough
Let’s begin with Slough, a town in Berkshire, within the historic county of Buckinghamshire. This town is 20 miles west of central London and 19 miles northeast of Reading. You will find the town in the Thames Valley and within the London metropolis around the area at the intersection of the M4.
In spite of its location, Slough according to those visitors, is a town whose streets are littered with empty takeaway and full of packets or empty beer cans. This assertion hasn’t been contradicted by even just one resident. The quality of food in the town’s restaurants appears, kind of, made for losers who’re just out to eat as much unhealthy food as they can get away with.
9. Scunthorpe
It’s not desirable to find Scunthorpe among the most hated towns in England. Unfortunately, we can’t afford to take it out of our list because the facts obviously place it there. This industrial town in the unitary authority of North Lincolnshire should normally be the pride of Lincolnshire as its main administrative center. But the town with an estimated population of 82,334 in 2016 had many things going against it.
Residents of the UK’s largest steel processing center, also known as the Industrial Garden Town, are frustrated by a lack of the liveliness and diversity in the town only known for work. However, the loudest grouse that lists Scunthorpe alongside the most hated towns in England is the indiscriminate censorship and blocking of websites for spurious reasons.

Exploring Wiltshire - from Swindon to Devizes (4K 3840x2160 60fps)
Driving in Wiltshire, from Swindon to Devizes. On the way passing North Wroughton, Wroughton, Elcombe, Berwick Bassett, Winterbourne Monkton, Avebury, Beckhampton.
Roads used: A4289, A4361, A361.
Wiltshire is a county in South West England with an area of 3,485 km². It is landlocked and borders the counties of Dorset, Somerset, Hampshire, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire. The county town was originally Wilton, after which the county is named, but Wiltshire Council is now based in the county town of Trowbridge. Within the county's boundary are two unitary authority areas, Wiltshire and Swindon, governed respectively by Wiltshire Council and Swindon Borough Council.
Swindon is a large town in the ceremonial county of Wiltshire, South West England, between Bristol, 35 miles (56 kilometres) to the west, and Reading, the same distance to the east; the town is 71 miles (114 km) west of London. At the 2011 census, it had a population of 182,441. The Town Development Act 1952 led to a major increase in its population.
Swindon railway station is on the line from London Paddington to Bristol. Swindon Borough Council is a unitary authority, independent of Wiltshire Council since 1997. Residents of Swindon are known as Swindonians. Swindon is home to the Bodleian Library's book depository,[3] the English Heritage National Monument Record Centre, the headquarters of the National Trust, on the site of the former Great Western Railway works, and the Nationwide Building Society, and a Honda car manufacturing plant, which is due to close in 2021.
Devizes is a market town and civil parish in the centre of Wiltshire, England. It developed around Devizes Castle, an 11th-century Norman castle, and received a charter in 1141 permitting regular markets, which are held weekly in an open market place. The castle was besieged during the Anarchy, a 12th-century civil war between Stephen of England and Empress Matilda, and again during the English Civil War when the Cavaliers lifted the siege during the Battle of Roundway Down. Devizes remained under Royalist control until 1645, when Oliver Cromwell attacked and forced the Royalists to surrender. The castle was destroyed in 1648 on the orders of Parliament, and today little remains of it.

A Short Drive Through Devizes Historic Market Town Wiltshire.
Devizes is a market town and civil parish in the centre of Wiltshire, England. It developed around Devizes Castle, an 11th-century Norman castle, and received a charter in 1141 permitting regular markets, which are held weekly in an open market place. The castle was besieged during the Anarchy, a 12th-century civil war between Stephen of England and Empress Matilda, and again during the English Civil War when the Cavaliers (Royalists) lifted the siege during the Battle of Roundway Down. The castle was destroyed in 1648 on the orders of Parliament, and today little remains of it.
From the 16th century Devizes became known for its textiles, and by the early 18th century it held the largest corn market in the West Country, constructing the Corn Exchange in 1857. In the 18th century, brewing, curing of tobacco, and snuff-making were established. The Wadworth Brewery was founded in the town in 1875.
Standing at the west edge of the Vale of Pewsey, the town is about 10.5 miles (16.9km) southeast of Chippenham and 11 miles (18km) east-north-east of the county town of Trowbridge. It has nearly five hundred listed buildings, some notable churches, a town hall and a green in the centre of the town.

Day 3 On The GREAT WEST WAY Road Trip - Devizes Wiltshire To Berkshire
Good beer, good food and snow, so the UK grinds to a halt.
Our Journey on #TheGreatWestWay continues and on Day 3 we start at the Wadworth Brewery in Devizes, Wiltshire. Taking a tour of this local brewery including a look at the Wadworth draft horses who still have a job pulling the dray delivery beer around the street of Devizes today.
Watch the full Great West Way trip:
Then a drive through the beautiful countryside of Wiltshire for lunch at The Three Tuns in Great Bedwyn not far from the town of Marlborough. Where we chatted with the chef-proprietor James Wilse.
To work off the lunch it was time to walk the North Wessex Downs but as you can see it was getting cold. The views over the Downs are beautiful and you can walk to many ancient hill forts or to the White Horse carved on the hillside.
Finally, it was along the Great West Way from Wiltshire into the county of Berkshire where we were staying at The Royal Oak pub in Yattendon. It was good to get into the warn pub!
Unfortunately, our last day was cut short by the snowy weather. The snow made the villages and countryside look beautiful although driving was a bit dodgy.
So if you are visiting Britain and want to see the real England outside of London then a tour along the Great West Way is definitely worth the time. #VisitBritain #VisitWiltshire

Day 2 On The Great West Way Road Trip - Bath To Devizes
Exploring Bath, Somerset - it’s the second day of the #TheGreatWestWay trip and we take a tour of the Roman Baths. There is a good audio guide and usually a few Roman characters to interact with along the way so you can practice your Monty Python “What have the Romans ever done for us?”
Watch the full Great West Way trip:
As Mel is a jewellery fan we had chance to visit Nicholas Wylde jewellers in the centre of Bath. The city has lots of independent retailers and there is lots of great shopping so watch your credit card. There is plenty to do in Bath and its definitely worth spending at least a couple of days there.
Before lunch it was tour time with Around And About Bath, a tour is one of the best way to get to know a city. You can find out more about the main sites, also the more unusual and darker side of Georgian life (we left out the toilet references!)
After lunch at Koffmann And Mr White’s which is in the centre of the city just behind bath Abbey it was off to the village of Lacock and Lacock Abbey. Lacock is a quaint Wiltshire village and Lacock Abbey has been used as a film location in a number of famous films. The biggest being Harry Potter.
Finally it was a dash to Devizes Marina, Wiltshire for a stay at the Devizes Marina lodge which overlooks the canal boats, our lodge had a hot tub on the deck area, a great way to relax!
