Daman is one of the parts of union territory - Daman & Diu. Daman is less popular for tourist places but recently I visited this amazing place and realized that it is developing every day. Daman is the capital city of the Indian union territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. It is a municipal council situated in the Daman district of the union territory.
Daman Ganga River divides Daman into two parts - Nani-Daman (nani meaning small) and Moti-Daman (Moti meaning big). Despite its name, Nani-Daman is the larger of the two parts, while the old city is mainly in Moti-Daman. This holds most of the important entities like the major hospitals, supermarkets, and major residential areas. Vapi, Gujarat is the nearest city to Daman.

Diu is a small island and mainland village. The Fort of Moti Daman, Diu Fort and 16th-century churches reflect the territory’s past as a Portuguese colony. In the town of Moti Daman, the Basilica of Bom Jesus Church is known for its gilt altarpiece. *************************************************** Description: 1. Diu Fort : Fort Diu, is located on the west coast of India in Diu, a Union Territory, administered by the Government of India. The fort was built by the Portuguese during their colonial rule of the Diu island. The Diu town is located to the west of the fort. 2. Jampore Beach : Jampore beach is one significant attraction of Daman. Situated remotely 5 kilometres away from the Moti Daman Jetty, the beach gets fame because of its blackish mud-coloured water. It is soothing just to have glimpses of the sea and is a perfect place for the ones seeking longing peace and solitude. The beach is away from the hustle of the city and is, therefore, a great place to relax. 3. The Sao Jeronimo fort : Saint Jeronimo’s Fort is located on the north bank of the Damanganga River opposite the walls of Daman. It is an exemplary work of military architecture, and remains well preserved. The initiative to build a fortification in Nani Daman seems associated to the Mughal army’s invasion in 1611, in retaliation for the capture of a Mecca ship in Surat by Luís de Brito e Mello. 4. Naida Caves : The Naida caves are located on the periphery of the Diu fort. These caves have a big network of tunnels with square hewn steps.
5. Nagoa Beach : Nagao Beach is a town in Diu district, India, on the edge of the Junagadh district. The town's main industry is tourism, and it has 21 kilometres of coastline. The population is 14,000 but about 40,000 tourists enter the town during peak seasons 6. St. Paul's Church : The St. Paul’s Church, is situated on Diu Island, on the west coast of India, a Union Territory of India. Diu came under the control of Portuguese colonists in early 16th century. 7. Gangeshwar Temple : The Gangeshwar Temple is situated approximately 3 km from Diu in the old Fudam village. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and features 5 Shivalingas that are believed to have been established by the Pandavas during their exile from the kingdom. These Shivalingas are situated amidst rocks that are washed by waves continuously. 8. Pani Kotha : Panikotha fort located in the sea, off the coast opposite to DiuFort, could be seen in the evenings. There are several cannons (some of them made of bronze appear well preserved) still seen at the top of the Diu fort. Also seen are collection of iron shells scattered around in the fort area. 9. Ghogla Beach : Ghoghla Beach is situated in the village of Ghoghla, which is around 15 km from the main town of Diu. This beach is a popular tourist spot that has necessary facilities like food and accommodation. 10. Jalandhar Beach : Jallandhar Beach, named after the demon Jallandhar, features a small memorial at a hill top along with a stone face structure of the demon. The Fort of Moti Daman, Diu Fort and 16th-century churches reflect the territory’s past as a Portuguese colony.It is a coastal union territory in India which was once a part of the Portuguese empire neighbouring Goa.
1. Jampore Beach This palm-shaded beach is the most enchanting beach in Daman. Here you can spend some moments of peace and quiet in the company of nature. The beach is ideal for casual swimmers as its famous for its calm waters and during low tide one can easily go further into the sea.
2. Fort Jerome The small fort with a giant gateway facing the river with a large statue of St.Jerome and two giant human figures, on either side of the gateway encloses an area of 12250 sq.m., it is must see when you are in Daman. A place of historical importance and remembrance ever since the Portuguese were ruling this place. The fort was constructed in order to keep watch on the activities in the sea.
3. Bom Jesus Church The construction of the church began in 1559 AD and was completed in 1603 AD. Bom Jesus Church displays its remarkable and brilliant roman styled architecture. Inside the church you will find 6 beautiful statues of the Saints. The altar of the church are carved from wood and is a fine specimen of the Portuguese artisans.
4. Diu fort It is a calm and quiet place. The fort was built in 1535 subsequent to a defense alliance forged by Bahadur Shah, the Sultan of Gujarat and the Portuguese. A large light house is also located at one end of the fort. Even now the ruins of the walls, gateways, arches, ramps, bastions of the fort provide an impressive view.
5. Gangeshwar Temple Here you can find 5 shivlings that lie amidst the rocks and are lulled by the tidal waves of the sea during high tides. It is believed that the Pandavas during their exile worshipped Lord Shiva here. Enjoy the beauty of nature while unraveling the history of the past.
6. Zampa Gateway The gateway marks the entrance to the District of Diu. The construction of Zampa Gateway was done somewhere in the medieval era which is pretty evident by its unique architecture.
7. Nagoa Beach It is located near Bucharwada village. This beach is one of the most happening and nice beaches of the Union Territory of Diu. It offers ample opportunities for water-sport enthusiasts like parasailing, water scooter, etc. It's clean & popular with the locals. It gets crowded in the evening on weekends and public holidays.
8. Light House Located at Daman Ganga Bridge, the lighthouse is situated in the premises of a Fort which was built during the Portuguese era and is considered to be one of the major landmarks of Daman.
9. Vaibhav Water World The Park is famous for clean & clear water, beautiful landscaping, technologically safe and a good base for making your visits historic. An array of 36 thrilling rides in Vaibhav Waterpark surrounded by farms of mangoes, coconut and chikoos on tha Kanta Vapi road, about 7 km from Daman is another place for fun and adventure. Timing 11:00 to 18:00 hrs.
10. Mirasol Lake Garden It is also known as Kadaiya Lake Garden. They have garden, boat rides and other similar forms of entertainment. It is a calm and peaceful place, a place to shun tiredness and regenerate lost energies.

1- Diu Fort - The Diu Fortress (Portuguese: Fortaleza de Diu or formally Fortaleza de São Tomé)[1], is a Portuguese-built fortification located on the west coast of India in Diu. The fortress was built as part of Portuguese India's defensive fortifications at the eastern tip of the island of Diu during the 16th century. The fortress, which borders on the town of Diu, was built in 1535 subsequent to a defense alliance forged by Bahadur Shah, the Sultan of Gujarat and the Portuguese when Humayun, the Mughal Emperor attempted to annex this territory. It was strengthened over the years, till 1546.
2- Jampore beach - Jampore beach is a go to place in Daman. There has recently been a lot of changes done there. Beautification of the road leading to beach, it looks like a coastal road with ample parking space and walking promenade. The old stalls have been regularised and now there are shacks having all options. Lot of sport activities also present like water sports.
3- Naida caves - Naida caves, Diu are located outside the city wall of the Diu Fort, which was constructed by the Portuguese. The caves feature a big network of tunnels with square hewn steps, which is yet to be fully explored.
4- Saint Jerome fort - This is a nice place and is located near the jetty. There is no entry fee. People can come here and click pictures with their family. The view from the fort is amazing. One can see the lighthouse and the Arabian Sea from the fort. But like every other fort in India it is vandalized too. This place is easy to visit. There is a church, a school and cemetery in the fort premises. There are toilets available here. Overall i'd give it a 7/10 due to lack of management.
5 - Saint Paul Church - The St. Paul’s Church, named after St. Paul, the Apostle of Jesus also known as the Apostle to the Gentiles, is still a functioning church and one of the three churches in Diu built by the Portuguese. It is considered one of the best examples of baroque architecture (artistic style) in India.
6- Nagoa beach - Nagoa Beach is a town in Diu district, India, on the edge of the Junagadh district. The town's main industry is tourism, and it has 21 kilometres of coastline. The population is 14,000 but about 40,000 tourists enter the town during peak seasons.
7- Gangeshwar Mahadev temple - The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is located 3 kms from Diu in Fudam Village. Situated at the Arabian Sea, the temple is surrounded with scenic beauty and ataraxy. It is a cave temple located amid rocks on the seashore and is an essential religious site in Diu.
8- Ghoghla beach - The Beach is located north of Diu town in the Ghoghla Village. It is considered as one of the most captivating beaches, yet it is a more austere attraction perfect for people who like to spend time away from crowds. The Beach is on the outskirts of the town; hence it is still the less explored beach which makes it one of the Places to visit in Diu.
9- Pani kotha - The local called it Pani Kottha. Panikotha is a fortress in the middle of the sea. It was main prison complex at the time when the Portuguese ruled Diu .
10- Jalandhar beach - Jallandhar beach of Diu is Quite and peaceful among all the beach. It's name Jallandhar has historical conncetion. Jallandhar named King of Asura had vanished lots of Enemies over here, and that's why it named after Jallandhar.
