Best Places in Castilla-La Mancha
Have you ever heard of the autonomous community of Castilla-La Mancha in Spain? Small, pretty mountain villages, white windmills and untouched natural parks are just as much a part of the landscape here as historic buildings. For example in Toledo, the capital of Castilla-La Mancha and one of the most visited places in the region. Come with us on a journey through the home of the novel hero Don Quixote, which is also known as the largest wine-growing region in Europe. If you approach this community of around 79,400 km² in the heart of Spain, more precisely in the center of the Iberian Peninsula, it is above all the exceptionally beautiful landscapes that immediately catch your eye. Pretty little farming villages alternate with white windmills, beautiful nature parks such as the Parque Natural de las Lagunas de Ruidera, the Parque Natural de La Serrania de Cuenca or the Las Tablas de Daimiel National Park invite nature lovers on an exciting expedition. The highest elevation in La Mancha, the Montes de Toledo with the Las Villuercas and Rocigalgo mountains, also characterize the region, while the Rajo, Guadiana and Júcar rivers that run through it lend it an idyllic landscape. Add to this the magnificent vineyards, wheat fields and olive groves and you have a great place for nature lovers! #castillalamancha #spain #bestplaces

Španija in Kastilja La Manča.

This impressive environment has as a common denominator the Tagus River, in the section that forms the natural border between Spain and Portugal in the northwestern part of Extremadura. A natural space with identical characteristics on both sides of the border. The Tagus International Natural Park is a cross-border cooperation project whose objective is to protect and promote the natural, cultural and tourist resources of the area. In the Spanish part of the park there are towns such as Zarza la Mayor (in the northern part), Alcántara (the Alcántara Bridge, after the Alcántara reservoir, marks approximately the beginning of the section of the Tagus that gives its name to the park), Brozas, Carbajo, Santiago de Alcántara, Herrera de Alcántara, Cedillo (the Cedillo reservoir marks the end of the section of the Tagus that delimits the park) or Valencia de Alcántara. On the Portuguese side, the council of Castelo Branco and partially that of Idanha-a-Nova. In Santiago de Alcántara is the Interpretation Center of the Tagus International Natural Park. It can be a good point of reference to start our visit to the park. As a whole, the natural park extends over a total area of about 50,000 hectares, of which 25,000 correspond to the Tagus International Natural Park (Es) and about 26,000 to the Tejo Internacional Natural Park (Pt). It is an environment dominated by the Tagus River, with its innumerable tributaries, among which the Erjas, Salor and Sever rivers stand out. This section of the Tagus, known as the Tagus notch, is characterized by being rugged terrain, through which numerous streams and streams flow, giving rise to what are called riverbanks.

The south of Menorca is characterized by its deep ravines and the coves that form at the end. It is the coves of fine white sand, turquoise bottoms and pine trees on the cliffs. These coves are not a myth, they exist, and we find them all over the south coast of Menorca. They are extraordinary places and one of the biggest tourist attractions of the Balearic Islands. In the southern area we find, among others, Cala Mitjana, Trebalújer or Binigaus.
Sometimes, the ravines do not end abruptly but give way to large open areas. Then, instead of forming small coves, we will find magnificent beaches, such as Son Bou or Sant Tomàs. In modern tourist developments, generally well integrated into the landscape, visitors find a tourist model that avoids maisfication and crowds. In this way, tourists can enjoy the spectacular scenery, and a top quality tourist service.
But the south is not just coastal. In the depth of its ravines, the subject of numerous tales and legends, caves, wells and some of the most relevant archaeological finds are hidden today. Its towns, scrupulously whitewashed, retain all the charm of traditional life. In ancient times, Mediterranean pirates regularly ravaged the Menorcan coasts. To protect themselves from these attacks, and gain room for maneuver, the peoples of the south are inland populations.
Es Migjorn Gran is a very pretty small town, while Ferreries and Alaior are medium in size and have a long tradition of making typical products. In the south we also find a large number of vestiges of the Talayotic era. Villages, talaiots, basilicas and the enormous, mysterious and fascinating taules. These archaeological remains, together with the traditions and popular festivals, make the visit acquire an extra cultural enrichment. And so, in Menorca, magic adds to beauty.

The natural area of Secans del Segrià and Utxesa is located between the municipalities of Aitona, Sarroca de Lleida and Torres de Segre for the most part. It is made up of a set of reservoirs and their respective tails, built by man more than 100 years ago for the hydroelectric use of water and that over time became naturalized, and by a set of tabular reliefs of the Tossal de Carrassumada and Tossals de Sunyer as drylands and moorland areas. The nearby environment is formed by a mosaic of crops, basically fruit trees but also cereal and others; This means that there is a great diversity of landscapes and that in a short space we can find highly diversified habitats. It is one of the Catalan inland wetlands with the greatest diversity of fauna. It is essential to visit La Fusteria.
This space was declared in 2005. With an area of 28.94 ha, it is located in the extreme northeast of the province of Lugo, on the coastline between the towns of Ribadeo and Foz. Despite the name of Playa de las Catedrias, the beach only exists at low tide, since at high tide it almost completely disappears. The coastal front of the Natural Monument of the beach of the Cathedrals is oriented in an east-west direction, along the Cantabrian plain, with 2.2 km of face and 10 to 20 m high. It is characterized by the presence of small sea cliffs and sandy beaches, interspersed between small promontories and islets of great geomorphological and landscape interest. Within the limits of the Natural Monument of Playa de las Catedrales there are two small river courses: the Perdón stream and the Esteiro stream. This geomorphological enclave was formed due to the marine erosion of the Paleozoic age, which affected the series of slates and quartzites. In this way, arches and tunnels are the most numerous geomorphological forms, reaching up to 30 m in height, but caves (or “furnas”) and islets (“stacks”) are also preserved, which constitute vestiges of ancient arches sunk by the erosive action of waves. The caves and furnas characteristic of Augasantas beach (which gave it its popular name Las Catedrales) are developed on siliceous rocks. In the Cathedrals you can see small dune formations entering the continent, and the lowest part of the cliffs is covered by algae, mussels, barnacles, limpets and sea acorns. But this natural space extends in the form of a ZEC (Special Conservation Zone) until almost reaching Ribadeo, about 15 kms. of coastline with cliffs and small beaches. This area is accessed by small local roads, and also contains many wild and beautiful corners, with the Cantabrian Sea in the background.
