Top 10 Cities to Visit in UK | United Kingdom
Top 10 Cities to visit in UK.
Consisting of England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, the United Kingdom (UK) has long been one of Europe's most popular tourist destinations. The country's appeal has much to do with its diverse scenery and rich cultural heritage. The best places to visit in the UK include everything from beautifully preserved country estates and castles, to its many world-class art galleries and museums. Millions of visitors travel to and around the UK every year and every corner of beautiful islands are visited. Whether you are a British or international tourist, there is indeed plenty to see and do in the UK. If you need ideas or inspiration for where to start your tour, let’s have a look at top 10 best cities in the UK.
Number 10. Brighton
Brighton is hip, colorful, and unusually urban for a seaside resort. London's beach, 60 miles from the capital, is a year-round day trip or short break destination with lots more to offer than its seafront. Shopping, dining, a hoot of a fantasy palace, a brilliant aquarium, great nightlife and theater, block after block of Regency houses - not to mention the most scenic pier in Britain - combine with a tolerant and breezy ambiance to make Brighton a very cool place to visit and an even cooler place to stay awhile. At least 8 million people visit Brighton annually. If you like cities, there's a good chance you will love Brighton.
Number 9. Cardiff
Cardiff, the capital of Wales and its largest city, has experienced a virtual renaissance. In a little over a decade its visitor numbers have increased by more than 50 percent. In 2009, that figure had risen to more than 14.6 million foreign visitors, with French and Irish rugby fans leading the way.
Number 8. Cambridge
Cambridge, like its traditional rival Oxford, grew out of an association of scholars who settled in one place and founded the colleges. According to tradition, Cambridge, Britain's second oldest university, was founded in 1209.
Number 7. Oxford
Oxford University is England's oldest university, dating back to the 11th century. It's the reason that many people make their way to this small city, 60 miles northwest of London, on the edge of the Cotswolds. Visitors can also enjoy shopping in a lively covered market.
Number 6. York
The small northern English city of York has been an important population center for at least 2000 years. As a Roman, Viking, and Medieval Anglo Saxon city, its relics, monuments and architectural treasures are woven into the fabric of everyday modern life. It's a lovely city for walking, with hundreds of half-timbered buildings and other marvels to look at and explore at every turn. Its markets, located in the same squares and stalls they have occupied for hundreds of years, sell everything from fruit and vegetables and snazzy hats to designer kitchen utensils.
Number 5. Liverpool
When visitors think of Liverpool, the Beatles may come to mind. And, of course, there's plenty to do that's Beatles related - not least of which is is visit to the famous Cavern club. In 2008, the mantle of European Capital of Culture landed on Liverpool, revitalizing this city in England's northwest, as the award often does.
Number 4. Glasgow
Scotland's largest city and the third-largest city in the UK, Glasgow's had long taken a back seat to Edinburgh with tourists and visitors. In 2008, Lonely Planet named Glasgow one of the top 10 cities for tourists.
Number 3. Manchester
Manchester is often called the first modern city. In the 18th century this Northwestern city, 30 miles from Liverpool, was the cotton making capital of the world and one of the breeding grounds of the industrial revolution. Its entrepreneurs and industrial tycoons endowed it with museums,
Number 2. Edinburgh
Scotland's capital and the seat of its Parliament, Edinburgh combines the young and modern sensibilities of a great university city and national capital with a historic and dramatic setting. Here you'll find the world's biggest performing arts festival. Edinburgh has about half a million people, including more than 62,000 university students.
Number 1. London
Home of the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, The Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, The British Museum and more British Icons, London is a world center of theatre, art, music, literature, and culture. It's also a city of colorful markets, great shopping, green open spaces, and a cosmopolitan culture. London is home to 7.5 million people, or 12.5 per cent of the UK's population.

Top 10 Cities to Visit in Scotland | United Kingdom
Top 10 Cities to Visit in Scotland.
Scotland is generally seen as a destination with beautiful scenery combined with thousands of historic sites and attractions. These include prehistoric stone circles, standing stones and burial chambers, and various Bronze age, Iron age and Stone age remains. There are also many historic castles, houses, and battlegrounds, ruins and museums. Many people are drawn by the culture of Scotland.
The main tourist season is generally from April to October. In addition to these factors, the national tourist agency, Visitscotland, have deployed a strategy of niche marketing, aimed at exploiting, amongst other things, Scotland's strengths in golf, fishing and food and drink tourism.
Number 10. St. Andrews
St. Andrews is a must-visit for anyone with an ounce of interest in golf. Now something of a mecca for golfers, the Royal and Ancient Golf Club in St. Andrews was established in 1754, making it the oldest - and most prestigious - course in the world. In addition to its seven golf courses, the excellent British Golf Museum is worth a visit, too. There's much else to see and do here that's not related to the sport of golf. St. Andrews is a university city, home to the country's oldest seat of higher learning, and one of its top accommodation options when school's out.
Number 9. Dumfries
From Ayr, it's only a short drive to Dumfries, which also harbors a number of Robbie Burns-related attractions. Topping the list is the poet's former home on Burns Street.
Now an excellent museum dedicated to the poet and his life, it was here Burns lived for the last few years of his life; and thanks to its free admission, the museum is also considered the top thing to do for free in Dumfries. Other must visit attractions include the Dumfries Museum.
Number 8. Ayr
the city of Ayr on the west coast of Scotland is well worth exploring, Best known as the birthplace of Robbie Burns. Scotland's most famous poet is celebrated everywhere here. To make sure you don't miss any of the best landmarks related to this legendary Scotsman, follow the Burns' Heritage Trail to Alloway on the outskirts of Ayr.
Number 7. Stirling
The lovely university city of Stirling has a long and rich history, especially as it relates to Scotland's struggle for independence through the centuries. Just 50 minutes' drive from both Edinburgh and Glasgow, Stirling is where Scottish king Robert the Bruce sent the English packing in 1314.
Number 6. Perth
Just a short hop from Dundee - and accessible by rail from Edinburgh, providing a chance to cross the famous Forth Rail Bridge - the small city of Perth offers a pleasant taste of a less-busy Scotland.
Number 5. Inverness
Exploring the Scottish Highlands should be a highlight of your Scotland travel itinerary. And there's no better place to use as your base than the beautiful Highland city of Inverness. From here, you're just a short drive away from such iconic Scottish scenery as Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle, and some of the most memorable views you'll experience in a country that, frankly, is full of incredible vistas.
Number 4. Dundee
An easy day trip from Edinburgh, Dundee is famous for its spectacular river crossings. Stretching as far as the eye can see across the Firth of Tay from Dundee all the way to the village of Wormit, Considered one of the world's top rail trips, the views are simply stunning as you travel the structure's two miles of steel.
Number 3. Aberdeen
Known locally as the The Flower of Scotland, Aberdeen, like Glasgow, is full of parks and gardens. By far the most famous is Duthie Park, home to the internationally acclaimed David Welch Winter Gardens, one of the UK's biggest indoor gardens. Here, you can visit and enjoy year-round displays of tropical plants and exotic flowers located in a variety of large greenhouses.
Number 2. Glasgow
Since its transformation from an industrial city to the cultural center of Scotland, Glasgow has become one of the country's top-rated tourist destinations. Part of this transformation has taken place on former industrial land along the River Clyde, which has been rebuilt and revitalized in the past few decades.
Number 1. Edinburgh
Whether you're here for a weekend or a week, Edinburgh offers no end of things to do. While the capital city of Scotland is best known for its incredible medieval castle - Edinburgh castle is consistently ranked as one of the UK's most visited tourist attractions - there are numerous other parts of this beautiful city to explore. old man of storr glencoe things to do in edinburgh

Escape to Scotland: 10 Unforgettable Experiences Revealed #scotlandvlog #scotland #scotlandtravel
If you’re planning a trip to Scotland, here are some ideas of things you can do and add to your itinerary:
This is Part 2 of our 10 things to do in Scotland, so really now it is 20 things 😂
Save this video for later:
1. The Jacobite Steam train, or for Harry Potter fans, the Hogwarts Express, is a great opportunity to see the Highlands. If planning on actually riding it, you will need to book many months in advance, as the tickets sell out very quickly! Keep in mind, the train only runs from early April to late October. It departs from Fort William, and goes all the way to Mallaig, and back. Prices vary from £57 to £89 for adults, and £33 to £63 for children. Check out their website for all the latest prices and to see availability + book tickets. If your plan is to only watch it pass over the beautiful Glenfinnan Viaduct (like we did), the train will pass over the viaduct at 10:45 am and 3:15 pm, but be sure to arrive at least one hour prior, because the car park fills up quick, and you need to walk a good 30 minutes to a good viewing point.
2. The Eilean Donan castle is one of the most photographed castles in Scotland, and is a popular stop for people on their way to the Isle of Skye. Add this famous castle to your stop if visiting the Scottish Highlands.
3. St. Andrews - The Old Course is considered by many to be the home of Golf, as the sport was played there since the early 15th century. Located just 1:27 hour drive by car from Edinburgh, this can even be a day trip for those staying in Edinburgh and want to visit, or play golf.
4. Dunnottar Castle - in Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire, is a little over 2 hour drive from Edinburgh. This stunning cliffside castle ruin played a huge part in Scotland’s history, due to its strategic location and defensive strength. This is also a popular area for walking and hiking, as well as it offers nice views of the North Sea, with the possibility of spotting dolphins and seals off the coast.
5. Stirling Castle and the National Wallace Monument - This powerful stronghold (Stirling castle) sits very high up on top of volcanic rock, and can be seen even while driving to other places from Edinburgh or Glasgow. From Edinburgh it is a 1 hour drive, and from Glasgow 35 minutes. The cost to enter for adults is £19.50, but if you book online you will save £2. Children cost £11.70, or £10.50 if booking online. Check the website for latest costs and booking. The National Wallace monument is only 10 minutes away from Stirling Castle. It is a 67 meter tower that overlooks Stirling and commemorates Sir William Wallace - remember Braveheart 😉 there are 246 steps up to the observatory tower, and there are 3 exhibition rooms within the body of the tower. Unfortunately the tower is not accessible to disabled visitors. Prices range from £9 to £11, and there are packages available for families.
6. There are MANY whisky distilleries to visit, so depending on where you are visiting, check one of them out and find out how the drink is made in Scotland, as well as do a tasting 🥃
7. Inveraray is a small town in the Scottish Highlands. If you are visiting in July, they have some great Highland Games to check out! The Inveraray castle is the home of the Duke of Argyll, and is a beautiful castle with stunning gardens to visit and spend at least half a day.
8. Oban - the seafood capital and gateway to the Isles, is a town on the west coast of Scotland. Try some delicious seafood, fish and chips, explore McCaig’s Tower (free to enter) and enjoy some beautiful views of the town! Oban is also home to the Oban Distillery - one of Scotland’s smallest distilleries but known for its West Highland flavor.
9. Outer Hebrides Isles - from Lewis and Harris, to Mull, Iona, Islay or Staff (and many more), these isles will take your breath away! You will need to take a ferry to visit any of these, check out the website for the Calmac ferries for times and prices. We only visited Lewis and Harris but hope to return to others in the future. Our ferry left from Uig on the Isle of Skye and took close to 2 hours to arrive in Tarbert, Harris. The ferry was so nice, and had a lot of great food offered in the cafeteria.
10. Clava Cairns - these bronze aged circular tombs and stones are a great visit if staying in Inverness. Besides the circular shaped cairns, there are also standing stones. The Cairns are only 18 minutes from Inverness city center, and 6 minutes away from Culloden Battlefield, and is free to enter.
