As a popular destination for travelers seeking sun, sand, and adventure, Puerto Rico USA boasts an array of exciting experiences for visitors of all interests.
One of the top things to do in Puerto Rico is exploring Old San Juan, the historic heart of the capital city. This charming district features colorful colonial buildings, cobblestone streets, and impressive fortifications like El Morro and Castillo San Cristóbal. Wandering through these centuries-old structures provides a glimpse into the island's fascinating past and offers breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean.
For nature enthusiasts, the El Yunque National Forest is a must-visit Puerto Rico attraction. As the only tropical rainforest in the U.S. National Forest System, it offers hiking trails, waterfalls, and diverse wildlife. Adventure seekers can enjoy zip-lining through the lush canopy or taking a refreshing dip in natural pools.
Beach lovers will find no shortage of stunning coastal areas among the best things to do in Puerto Rico. Flamenco Beach on Culebra Island is often ranked as one of the world's most beautiful beaches, with its pristine white sand and crystal-clear waters. Luquillo Beach, known for its calm waters and food kiosks, is another popular spot for sun-seekers and foodies alike.
One of the most unique things to do in Puerto Rico is visiting the bioluminescent bays. Mosquito Bay on Vieques Island is the brightest in the world, where microscopic organisms create a magical blue glow in the water at night. Kayaking or swimming in these bays is an unforgettable experience that showcases the island's natural wonders.
For those interested in Puerto Rico sightseeing, a visit to the Arecibo Observatory, once home to the world's largest single-dish radio telescope, offers a fascinating look into space research. Although the telescope collapsed in 2020, the visitor center remains open and provides educational exhibits about astronomy and atmospheric sciences.
Food enthusiasts will delight in the culinary scene, which is undoubtedly one of the top things to do in Puerto Rico. From traditional dishes like mofongo and lechón to creative fusion cuisine, the island's gastronomic offerings are diverse and delicious. Visiting local markets, food tours, and cooking classes are excellent ways to immerse oneself in Puerto Rican cuisine.
A Puerto Rico travel guide would be incomplete without mentioning the island's vibrant nightlife and cultural events. The Piñones area near San Juan is famous for its beachside bars and live music scenes, while the annual San Sebastian Street Festival showcases Puerto Rican art, music, and dance.
For those seeking fun things to do in Puerto Rico, water sports abound. Surfing in Rincon, snorkeling in Culebra, and paddleboarding in San Juan Bay are just a few of the many options available. Cave exploration at Rio Camuy Cave Park and visiting coffee plantations in the central mountains offer additional unique experiences for adventurous travelers.
In conclusion, Puerto Rico offers a wealth of attractions and activities for visitors. Whether you're interested in history, nature, cuisine, or adventure, this enchanting island has something for everyone. A Puerto Rico tour can be tailored to suit any interest, making it an ideal destination for travelers looking to experience the best of the Caribbean with the convenience of visiting a U.S. territory.

Best Beaches of Culebra Puerto Rico
On this episode we are on the Island of Puerto Rico and take a Ferry out to Culebra Island off the east coast of Puerto Rico. We visit the world-famous Flamenco Beach and Snorkel at Tamarindo Beach. Discover Puerto Rico: This peaceful tropical island, located 20 miles off the coast of Fajardo, holds countless natural areas and pristine beaches to explore and enjoy during your stay. Culebra is surrounded by more than 20 cays and vibrant underwater landscapes — a haven for those interested in getting closer to ocean life through snorkeling or diving. Mingle with locals, immerse yourself in nature, beach hop, and above all, disconnect from your busy life with the much-needed peace and tranquility that Culebra offers. Culebra is known for its outstanding beaches, including one that regularly appears on lists of the best beaches in the world: Flamenco beach. The soft white sand you’ll feel beneath your feet contrasts with the green rolling hills that make up Flamenco’s backdrop. Its placid waves magnify the different shades of blue you can observe throughout the day, ranging from crystal clear to soft turquoise and, at times, even emerald green.
Flamenco If you visit Culebra and don't pass by Flamenco, did you even go? This is the top spot on the little island. The award-winning, world-famous beach is known for its crystal-clear waters and diamond-dust white sand. The beach is almost wave-less, making its conditions ideal for families with small children and those who want to practice water sports at different difficulty levels. The crescent-moon shaped beach changes the intensity of its turquoise color throughout the day and is surrounded by luscious green rolling hills for the perfect backdrop for an Insta-shot.
Tamarindo The place where you want to bring your snorkel gear is Tamarindo. This beach promises an aqua adventure for every visitor. This beach is less visited than Flamenco, which offers a more secluded and private setting, but a lot of fun for those who want to explore the underwater life in Culebra. The scenery is rocky and jagged with views of the Cayo Luis Peña. There's a good chance you'll encounter some sea turtles and manta rays while snorkeling or diving. There are no facilities at this location, so you'll need to bring everything you need, from food and water to beach chairs and maybe a beach umbrella.
