A comienzos del siglo XX, se pensó en abrir dos diagonales desde la histórica plaza de Mayo, una al sur, y otra al norte, llamada comúnmente Diagonal Norte. En 1907 se contrató a Joseph Bouvard, director de Arquitectura del Ayuntamiento de París, con la idea de copiar, precisamente, el modelo de la ciudad luz. Debido al carácter diagonal de ambas avenidas, frecuentemente la Municipalidad debió comprar o expropiar una franja de terreno mayor que la necesaria, con lo que los sobrantes a ambos lados fomentaron la especulación. La mayor pérdida sufrida fue la del Mercado del Centro, que databa del siglo XIX y ocupaba la manzana entre las calles Perú, Chacabuco, Adolfo Alsina y Moreno. Las obras concluyeron recién en 1943, aunque el último terreno libre en la Diagonal Sur recién fue ocupado por un edificio en 2011. En 1941 fue inaugurado el Monumento a Julio Argentino Roca. Tiene su base revestida de mármol con dos figuras, que representa a la Patria y al trabajo. En la cima está coronado por una escultura ecuestre en bronce hecha por José Luis Zorrilla de San Martín. Se ubica en la intersección con la calle Perú. En octubre de 2011, el Gobierno de la Ciudad presentó ante la Legislatura de Buenos Aires una propuesta para concretar la Diagonal Sur en su extensión original, llegando hasta la intersección de las calles México y Bernardo de Irigoyen. Aun formando parte del proyecto de Bouvard de 1907, la avenida había quedado trunca en el cruce con Piedras y Avenida Belgrano, y este tramo final atravesando dos manzanas completas se había mantenido a lo largo de las décadas en la legislación de Buenos Aires, obligando a los edificios que se construyeran sobre el trazado proyectado, a prever la posible construcción de la diagonal.

Florida Street (Spanish: Calle Florida) is a popular shopping street in Downtown Buenos Aires, Argentina. A pedestrian street since 1971, some stretches have been pedestrianized since 1913.
The pedestrian section as such starts at the intersection of Perú Street and Avenida de Mayo, a block north of the Plaza de Mayo; Perú Street crosses Rivadavia Avenue, and becomes Florida Street. Florida Street runs northwards for approximately one kilometer to Plaza San Martín, in the Retiro area. It intersects Buenos Aires's other pedestrian street, Lavalle, at the heart of the former cinema district.
Florida is one of the city's leading tourist attractions. Florida Street bustles with shoppers, vendors, and office workers alike because of its proximity to the financial district. Avenida Presidente Julio Argentino Roca (Diagonal sur) - 2023 #buenosaires #argentina
A comienzos del siglo XX, se pensó en abrir dos diagonales desde la histórica plaza de Mayo, una al sur, y otra al norte, llamada comúnmente Diagonal Norte. En 1907 se contrató a Joseph Bouvard, director de Arquitectura del Ayuntamiento de París, con la idea de copiar, precisamente, el modelo de la ciudad luz. Debido al carácter diagonal de ambas avenidas, frecuentemente la Municipalidad debió comprar o expropiar una franja de terreno mayor que la necesaria, con lo que los sobrantes a ambos lados fomentaron la especulación. La mayor pérdida sufrida fue la del Mercado del Centro, que databa del siglo XIX y ocupaba la manzana entre las calles Perú, Chacabuco, Adolfo Alsina y Moreno. Las obras concluyeron recién en 1943, aunque el último terreno libre en la Diagonal Sur recién fue ocupado por un edificio en 2011. En 1941 fue inaugurado el Monumento a Julio Argentino Roca. Tiene su base revestida de mármol con dos figuras, que representa a la Patria y al trabajo. En la cima está coronado por una escultura ecuestre en bronce hecha por José Luis Zorrilla de San Martín. Se ubica en la intersección con la calle Perú.
La tapa de Soda Stereo Doble Vida es inusual debido a que consiste en una fotografía tomada verticalmente (3:4). La foto está tomada en blanco y negro. En ella se ve a los tres miembros de la banda posando sobre distintos planos o ángulos, con similitud a la tapa del álbum debut, Soda Stereo, donde también se presentaba esa idea, aunque esta vez Charly Alberti está al frente en lugar de estar detrás de los demás, y es Gustavo Cerati quien ahora está al fondo. La foto de la tapa del disco fue tomada en el barrio de Monserrat, Buenos Aires, exactamente en la esquina de Diagonal Sur, Av. Hipólito Yrigoyen y la calle Bolívar, o sea al costado del Cabildo de Buenos Aires. La foto se sacó enfocando en dirección a Bolívar, detrás de los músicos se ve al Hotel NH Buenos Aires City, y otros edificios de la esquina de Bolívar y Alsina.
