Join Spanish Steps, as we follow in the footsteps of the first non-Spanish pilgrim, the 10th century Bishop of Le Puy, Godescalc, along the Via Podiensis from Le Puy en Velay to Roncesvalles in Spain. We break this celebrated trail into three 2-week sections but for the first time ever, to celebrate the Holy Year of Saint James, we are offering the chance to walk the entire way. EFI. Come walk with us from the headwaters of the mighty Loire, deep in the Auvergne, to the frontier mountain range of the Pyrenees and into Spain, as we reveal the legends of this century trodden path. Condom-en-Armagnac to Roncesvalles: if you haven’t had enough walking then continue on with us through the gloriously gentle Gers, known as the French Tuscany, with endless vineyards, beaming faces of sunflowers turning to the golden rays of summer and swathes of swaying sheaves of corn. Here the best of local gastronomy will dance on your palate with zippy, playful white wines, silken Armagnac, croustade de pommes, foie gras, confit de canard, and the best of freshly harvested vegetables you can imagine. You’ll never want to leave.
But westward-ho, the enchanting towns of Les Landes and Béarn await our arrival: the oldest bastide village of Pimbo, important market and pilgrim towns of Nogaro and Aire-sur-l’Adour, Arthez with its panoramic vistas of the Pyrenees, the tiny 11th-century church of St James at Sensacq and the walled town of Navarrenx, home to Béarnais sauce and Frances’ best salmon.
Last, but by no means least, we delve into the foothills of the Pyrenees, deep into rich pastoral Basque country; land of brébis (sheep cheese), cider and piment d’esplette. Here the three major pilgrim routes in France come together. The bleat of sheep and clanging of cowbells accompany us as we climb steadily to St Jean Pied de Port, a quintessential Basque town at the base of Napoleon’s Pass. For many, crossing the Pyrenees is the beginning of their Camino, but for us, arriving into Roncesvalles, Spain, is our FINALE and that very first cerveza will be well-earned nectar indeed.

Je zaujímavé sledovať, ako pri pohľade na hradby uvidíte výklenok na ktorom sa suší prádlo a cez dvere vidíte obyvateľom do obývačky. Vo vnútri opevnenia nájdete nielen turistickú kanceláriu, ale aj zmrzlináreň, kaviarne, či štýlový antikvariát a funkčný kostol. Asi najväčším sklamaním je však hlavná budova v strede opevnenia, ktorá je uzavretá a vlastne je to ruina na ktorú zrejme nikto nesnaží zrenovovať. Dnes nás naše cesta zavedla za dalším krásným zážitkem do města Condom. Počasí celý den nebylo nic moc, ale když jsme dorazili do cíle dnešní 125 km dlouhé etapy, tak dokonce na chvilku vykouklo sluníčko a tak jsme mohli vyrazit na prohlídku tohoto městečka pro nás se zvláštním názvem. Soud v Bordeaux zakázal další prodej prezervativů označovaných The original Condom from Condom, France, tedy originální kondom z Condomu ve Francii. Protože obyvatelé města nechtgějí být spojováni s kondomy. Podnik na výrobu prezervativů nazvaný The Original Condom company založili dva aristokrati - potomek francouzského krále Ludvíka XIV. Charles-Emmanuel de Bourbon Parme, který se honosí titulem kníže, a hrabě Gil de Bizemont. Firma formálně sídlí v Condomu, ale prezervativy se vyrábějí v Malajsii a vyvážejí se do Spojených států. Na druhou stranu, ale postoj města ke kondomům není záporný - v turistické sezoně je zde otevřeno specializované muzeum, které dokumentuje jejich vývoj od 18. století do dneška. Ano velmi zajímavé téma. Městečko leží v údolí řeky Baise a je typicky gaskoňským městem se spletí starých uliček a středověkých domů. Na malém kopečku najdeme mohutnou katedrálu z roku 1531. Jedná se o jednu z posledních ve Francii vybudovaných v gotickém slohu. Za povšimnutí stojí hlavně okenní vitráže a nádherně vyřezávané varhany. V zadu za katedrálou jsou v nadživotní velikosti všichní čtyři mušketíři a to právě proto, že z tohoto kraje pochází gaskoňský šlechtic d'Artagnan, Dumasova románová trilogie, líčí životní osudy gaskoňského šlechtice d'Artagnana a jeho přátel, tří mušketýrů Athose, Porthose a Aramise. Město leží v kraji proslulém výrobou armagnaku a je zde muzeum věnující se historii produkce tohoto lahodného nápoje. Armagnac je historický region o rozloze okolo 5 000 km² v Gaskoňsku na jihozápadě Francie, kde se do roku 1790 nacházelo hrabství Armagnac. Leží na území departementů Gers, Landes a Lot-et-Garonne, hlavním městem je Auch. Dělí se na Dolní Armagnac na severozápadě (zvaný také Černý Armagnac podle jílovité půdy) a Horní Armagnac na jihovýchodě (takzvaný Bílý Armagnac, protože leží na vápenci). A právě zde se vyrábí proslulá vinná pálenka nazvaná podle kraje armaňak. Ve městě jsme byli dokoce dvakrát aby jsme si ho prohlédli i za tmy. Zítra se již dostaneme na úpatí Pyrenejí do městčka Arreau, což je uprostřed hor mezi dvěmi moři Atlantikem a Středozemním. France Road Trip 2019 - Gascony, La Romieu and the Jardins de Coursiana
In the new video we start our journey north.We visit the picturesque town of Auch and then drive into the Gers region of Gascony. We visit the lovely town of La Romieu and take a tour of the Collegial Saint Pierre. We also visited the stunning Jardins de Coursiana. Gascony is a wonderful region - it is like going back in time with its slow pace of life and historic architecture at every turn. Stunning French Gardens & Nature’s Blue Dye | Episode.09 | Lectoure France Travel Vlog 2021
In this episode we explore more towns in the South of France. Our first stop is in Lectoure to have lunch at Hôtel Bastard. We also had to stop by the famous Bleu de Lectoure to find out how they make their natural blue dye. Afterwards we returned to La Romieu to explore Les Jardins de Coursiana. They have over 700 species of trees, plants and shrubs! Plus the best sorbet Ive ever had. Which they make using the fresh picked fruit from the garden! We ended the evening with a campfire cookout. While I am on the go, I film with my iPhone 11 Pro Max on the Dji Mobile Osmo 3. This allows me to get super smooth shots. I combine that with the either the Saramonic lavalier mic or Rhode mic and use a mount to attach it to the gimbal.

When I film at my apartment, I use my iPhone Pro Max as the main camera and my Canon 6D with the 24-105 f/4 lens for B-roll and photos. For the overhead shots, I use an overhead camera rig to mount my Canon 6D and connect a camera monitor so I can view the shot. And when my camera is set up on the ground, I use a quick release tripod. For lighting, I use the Neewer ring light and for audio, the Saramonic lavalier mic or Rhode mic (Linked Above).

To edit, I use DaVinci Resolve on my MSI GS 66 Stealth Gaming Computer. To store all of my footage, I use the SanDisk 1TB SSD Card.
