In this video I will show you how to take a great day trip from Mexico City to visit towns in the state of Hidalgo including Pachuca, Real del Monte, Huasca de Ocampo, and the Basaltic Prisms of Santa Maria Regla. We also stopped at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe to see the relic of Guadalupe. You can do these experiences by yourself but to get the most out of your trip book a local tour guide. The guide can help you with transportation and help you learn about the historical locations. (This video is not sponsored in any way) 🇲🇽 Enjoy! Grutas de Tolantongo MEXICO! | Worth it? | Mexico City Day Trip Guide | Hidalgo, MX Travel Vlog 2022
Travel Vlog #102 | Grutas de Tolantongo, Mexico (Hidalgo, Mexico)
***Book a guided group tour here!*** - ***If you want a private tour, book here*** -
Today we are back in Mexico City and heading on a day trip! We set out early in the morning to head to a still somewhat hidden area - Grutas de Tolantongo in Hidalgo! These are hot baths naturally heated from the earth by a nearby (dormant) volcano. The area has been built up with pools, restaurants, and hotels, and this is the perfect Mexico City day trip! We started out by seeing the sunrise and visiting a breakfast stop on the side of the road. We had some delicious quesadillas with chicken and mole!. Our guide was one of the best parts of this day trip to Tolantongo hot springs, and he knew all of the best spots. Our first special stop was a scenic viewpoint to appreciate the mountains of Hidalgo. After our car (and ourselves) were sanitized, we were in! From there, we first visited a tunnel with water coming out of every crevice. It was warm and felt amazing since it was cooler outside! Mexico is known in tourism as being a warm weather destination, but this area of Mexico is quite cool out, since it's in the mountains at a higher elevation. Coming out of the warm tunnel into the cold air was quite a shock! After a freezing (but fun) walk across a suspension bridge, we finally headed to the hot spring pools! There are so many different pools and levels, you could spend hours exploring the whole area, but sadly we didn't have that much time. We chose first to visit a pool with a direct view of the mountains, which was beautiful, and then we headed to a higher pool. The higher the pool, the warmer the water. We sat up at the top for a while and enjoyed the BEAUTIFUL scenery. After we were done at the pools we headed to the tunnels and cave! The way the entrance to the cave looks is one of the most unique things we've ever seen. The cave and tunnel have some of the warmest water since they're the highest up! For lunch, we visited the onsite restaurant. They had traditional Mexican dishes and everything was delicious. To end our time at Grutas de Tolantongo, we headed to the river as our last stop. Our gopro died shortly after getting in the water, but we recommend the river for sure! Make sure you subscribe to see the rest of our Mexico Travel Vlogs, and where else we go in the world!

A while ago, I asked on a live stream for destination suggestions. As always, I like to go to lesser known/visited locations in any country and you all suggested Hidalgo, or more specifically, the state capital, Pachuca, and Real del Monte, a small mining town with a history with English miners from Cornwall.
You did not disappoint. We fall in love with some destinations, and this is one of them! In this video (which is the first of THREE videos from Hidalgo) we explore a multitude of locations in Pachuca for my THREE YEAR TRAVEL ANNIVERSARY!!
We check out the Centro area, Plaza Juarez, Avenida Revolucion, the brightly coloured Las Palmitas, Centro at night with some awesome music, eat some pastes (more on that in the Real del Monte video and climb to the Cristo Rey!!
Overall, Pachuca is diverse and does have similarities to other cities in the world. But remember, this is Mexico!
