Shravanabelagola (Śravaṇa Beḷagoḷa) is a town located near Channarayapatna of Hassan district in the Indian state of Karnataka and is 158 km from Bengaluru, the capital of the state. The Gommateshwara statue at Shravanabelagola is one of the most important tirthas (pilgrimage destinations) in Jainism, one that reached a peak in architectural and sculptural activity under the patronage of Western Ganga dynasty of Talakad. Chandragupta Maurya is said to have died here in 298 BCE after he became a Jain monk and assumed an ascetic life style.[

Adagur Lakshminarayana Temple
The Lakshminarayana temple at Adagur (Adugur) in the Channarayapatna Taluk of Hassan was constructed around 1100 AD by the Hoysala. It is a trikuta style temple with 3 cells dedicated to Lakshminarayana, Venugopala and Saraswathi.

The Lakshmi Narasimha temple was built in 1246 CE by Bommanna Dandanayaka, a commander in the Hoysala Empire during the rule of King Vira Someshwara. The Hoysala temple is dedicated to Lord Narasimha who is believed to be an avatar of Lord Krishna. The Lakshmi Narasimha temple built in the trikuta (three towers). From outside, the temple actually looks like a ekakuta . The temple is attributed to two well known Hoysala sculptors, Baichoja and Mallitamma. The three shrines contain the images of Venugopala, Keshava and Lakshminarasimha, all avatars of Vishnu. Records say that this place is ancient and was patronized by the Cholas prior to the Hoysala rule. Legend has it that a saint by name Rushbha, performed penance and that the Lord Lakshmi Narasimha appeared before him . These wonderful temples come under the purview of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and they have classified these as the “Living Temple – Monument”, (which are very few in number) wherein the pooja to the Almighty is being performed uninterrupted from day one. This classification is given to about 50 odd temples in India. Nuggehalli used to be a flourishing town as seen in the inscription Ch.238. & an ancient place near which the Chola king is said to have constructed a temple of ‘Jayagondeshwara’ & to which the Hoysala king Vishnuvardhana gave some grants in 1121 A.D. A number of temples dedicated to ‘Vishnu & his incarnation’ were constructed during the reign of Hoysala King Vishnuvardhana. Located a short distance away in Nuggehalli, and built around the same time is the Sadashiva temple. The town was called Vijaya Somanathapura in ancient times and gained importance as an agrahara (place of learning) during the time of Bommanna Dandanayaka. Nuggehalli, (also spelled Nuggihalli), is a town in Hassan district of Karnataka, India. It is located on the Tiptur-Channarayapatna state highway and is about 50 km from Hassan city. The Lakshmi-Narasimha temple is a trikutachala constructed in 1246 AD during the reign of Hoysala Somesvara. The three sanctums house images of Kesava in the west, Lakshmi Narasimha in north and Venugopala in south. On plan, the temple has three sanctums, the western has sukanasi opening into a navaranga, preceded by a large mukhamandapa, a later pillared mandapa and a mahadvara, all set in a prakara in east-west orientation. The main temple, and the later period mandapa, is built on a raised platform. The bhitti is similar to that of Kesava temple at Somnathpur, elegant sculptures are placed shoulder to shoulder under patra-latha torana.

Anekere Chennakeshava Temple
Anekere is a village in the Hassan district of Karnataka, located approximately 7 km from Channarayapatna and 40 km from Hassan town. The old name of this village was Anegala kere (meaning lake with Elephants). According to inscriptional evidence, it was also known as Keshavapura. Within this village there is an early Hoysala temple which is dated to the 12th century.

Shri Channakeshava Temple, Anekere, C R Patna
A small village near Channarayapatna has a beautiful temple dedicated to Shri Chennakeshava. It was built by the Hoysalas in the 10th century but there are not many carvings as seen in other Hoysala temples. One special feature of this temple is a Kalasha which is placed on the top of the temple. To reach Anekere, Travel on Bangalore-Mangalore road till Channarayapatna. At C.R Patna, ask for directions to Anekere. Buses are not available to reach Anekere. The ancient Chennakesava Temple, was built in 1119 AD. Sri Channakeshava Temple at Anekere, has been beautifully restored under the able Guidance of Sri.Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Sri Veerendra Hegde in recent years.The entrance of the temple is beautifully carved with pillars and place to sit.The temple is built in Hoysala style and has a big open space around the temple.On the top of the temple, one can find finely carved Kalasha which is unique in its style and is of the biggest in size. Historical Details is the temple is built in Hoysala Style, Facing South and has three Kutas, hence known as Trikuta . The temple is dedicated to 'Lord Chennakeshava (Vishnu)'. The temple is not yet under the purview of the ASI. As the priest was unavailable during our visit, the only information we got of the temple from the locals was that it was built by the Hoysalas.
