Italy, being an idyllic country in Southern Europe, is famed for its gorgeous monuments, heritage sites, ultra-modern lifestyle, shimmering coastline, and of course its delectable cuisines. Here are, however, the top six places the country has to offer:
6. Lake Como Starting off the list, we have Lake Como, a magnificent site whose coasts are lined with magnificent mansions and hotels, and sandy beaches entice sunbathers. You'll see elegant sailboats and speedboats coasting in the middle of the lake, and for a taste of grandeur, you may visit one of the region's stately villas, such as Villa Melzi d'Eril, Villa Carlotta, or Villa Balbianello. Then, there is also the spectacular Como Cathedral, which combines Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque architectural styles.
5. Amalfi Coast Thanks to its vertiginous cliffs, sweeping views, and rocky shores, Amalfi's coastline draws quite some attention from around the world. Today, the site is home to chic boutiques and cafes, citrus-scented orchards, and pastel-painted coastal villages covered in wisteria.
You can explore the place with a guide, driving down the winding route that follows the rocky, craggy shoreline. Or, you may visit on your own, meandering through the narrow alleys while pausing to admire the vistas.
4. Tuscany Most people knew Tuscany in the past as a location of only romance, chianti wine, olives, delicious food, and, of course, sunshine. However, today many tourists visit this magnificent region in northwest Italy to escape the hustle and bustle of Rome or Milan and instead enjoy the Italian countryside. The blend of castles-turned-wineries-turned-hotels, graceful cypress trees, tumbling hills, and spreading vines is simply divine.
3. Florence Florence is a living gallery, dedicated to the century that it helped to fuel. From the ochre dome of the Cathedral to the exquisite palazzos to the fabled collections hanging in the city's various museums and galleries, the city is truly a wonderland for tourists. You can spend days inside the magnificent halls of the Bargello, Uffizi, and Accademia, discovering masterpieces by some of the best artists this world has ever seen.
2. Venice Although the entire world may descend on Venice daily, there is still a surprising amount of hidden enchantment in this water-logged city. The entire city and its lagoon with 118 small islands are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and it's easy to understand why.
The vast Piazza San Marco, St. Mark's Square, is the city's hub, surrounded by several of its key tourist attractions. The great Basilica of St. Mark stands beside the Doge's Palace, and overlooking both is the tall Campanile.

Rome For most tourists, Rome is Italy’s top destination and that is mainly because of its past as the capital of much of ancient Europe and its current status as one of the most active cities on the continent. The city has quite a lot of attractions but among them, the Colosseum, the Forum, the Pantheon, the Appian Way, and the Palatine Hill are the most well-known ones.

Scenically located near the border between Italy and Switzerland, Lake Como is a charming destination with beautiful small towns and villages around it, welcoming visitors all year round.
