Castlegar BC in 4K - DJI AIR 2S
I ventured on a 1750 km journey to Castlegar BC in the West Kootenays. This video was shot primarily in and around Castlegar and surrounding areas. All footage was captured on my AIR 2S with a few shots from my Canon 90D. Various shooting locations include: Tulip Creek Falls, Pass Creek Falls, Glade Creek, Arrowhead Lake and a place referred to by the locals as 'Bubbles'.
Is the Best Nordic Skiing in Castlegar, British Columbia?
One of the best places to enjoy nordic, or cross-country skiing, is Castlegar. In fact, we would argue Castlegar has some of the best nordic skiing in British Columbia. Whether you're into relaxed cross-country ski sessions through untouched snow or fast skate skiing on groomed trails, Castlegar offers something for everyone. There are countless free areas to explore in and around the city as well as hundreds of kilometres of perfectly maintained trails at multiple alpine resorts and those belonging to the Castlegar Nordic Ski Club at Paulson Summit.
The famous Castlegar snow is dry and light, unlike the stickiness on British Columbia's West Coast, and we get a lot of it: over two metres (six feet) of snow falls in Castlegar every season. Plus, we're not as cold and cloudy as areas up North or in the Eastern parts of the province: we enjoy 292 days of sunshine a year and the average winter temperature here is -3°C: perfect for cross-country skiing!

Biking in Castlegar, British Columbia
Castlegar offers something for every type of cyclist, whether you prefer road, singletrack, or something in between.
For those who prefer asphalt, the beautiful Broadwater Road from Robson to Syringa Provincial Park is a local favourite as it follows the shoreline of Lower Arrow Lake.
If mountain biking is more your thing, this area of British Columbia boasts world-class trails and Castlegar is no exception. For the hardcore downhill riders there’s Awakener, for example, with its huge gap jumps and technical rock sections. If you prefer fast and flowy, though, the Merry Creek trails won’t disappoint: not only are they fun for intermediate to expert riders, they also boast some of the most beautifully designed structures to ever grace a bike trail.
Families can visit the new three-acre bike park located in the heart of Castlegar and try out the flow area, dirt jumps and pump track. Or you can travel the mellow C&W Rail Trail, an abandoned railway bed that’s now part of the Trans-Canada Trail system. It winds its way from Castlegar to Christina Lake (and beyond) and is famous for its tunnels and trestles.

Traveled south through the Kootenays, spent some time in the back country of Castlegar and hit some balls at Castlegar Golf Course. Reached the US Border and settled in on a mountain side! I think I'll stay here a while :)
