Artist June Carey in Tuscany. It was 2006 when I first claimed this area as my home. But this is the first time I have made it a point to wander the amazing little streets and tiny corso of the historical center of this unspoiled, anicent Etruscan village. I walked carrying my Gopro video camera , free-hand, and since I can't see what it sees, or how level it is, the video is more like the viewer is being carried by me as I walk. I have yet to see any videos on the internet that show the hidden, romantic places one sees only if they explore the side streets on foot, here, and on a Sunday at 1 pm, when the streets are mostlyy empty, when the entire province is eating Sunday dinner . You can't drive through and see this, you have to walk to see it like this.This is not Disney Land; This is the real thing, where people live here, now,,just like they have for hundreds of years.

Durante uno dei nostri giri in Toscana abbiamo fatto una piacevole scoperta.
A Castiglion Fiorentino c’è una panchina gigante che se ne sta silenziosa, punta sui paesaggi della Val di Chiana e fa compagnia alla Torre del Cassero. È stata realizzata con i colori della bandiera italiana come simbolo di ritorno alla normalità dopo la pandemia. Non è solo un bel luogo da fotografare. Al tramonto si tinge di dolci sfumature ed anche solo 10/15 minuti seduto qui, riposi la mente, almeno questo è quello che è successo a noi.

In Castiglion Fiorentino there is a giant bench that sits silently, overlooking the landscapes of the Val di Chiana and keeping the Torre del Cassero company. It was made with the colors of the Italian flag as a symbol of the return to normality after the pandemic. It's not just a beautiful place to photograph. At sunset it is tinged with sweet shades and even just 10/15 minutes sitting here, you rest your mind, at least this is what happened to us.

La sua collocazione strategica in prossimità del percorso Arezzo-Chiusi e del collegamento tra la Val di Chiana e la Valtiberina ha fatto sì che il nucleo abitato si sviluppasse in epoca etrusca (VI-V sec. a.C.) e che avesse quindi una continuità di vita fino a diventare importante castrum nel periodo medievale.

In de herfstvakantie naar Toscane? Goed idee. De grote drukte is voorbij en het weer is vaak prima. Deze beelden maakte ik van onze recente trip naar het Trasimeense Meer (Lago Trasimeno), Arezzo, Cortona, Castiglion Fiorentino en Castiglione del Lago. Deze bestemmingen liggen in Oost-Toscane en dat is net wat minder bekend dan de plaatsen rond Pisa.

In this video I'll show you a couple of sights in Eastern Tuscany: Lago Trasimeno, Cortona (famous after Frances Mayes 'Under The Tuscan Sun'), Arezzo and Castiglione del Lago.
