5 Top-Rated Day Trips from Cardiff, Wales | the United Kingdom Day Tours Guide
5 Top-Rated Day Trips from Cardiff, UK
On the southern coast of Wales, Cardiff is the perfect place from which to explore the Welsh countryside. From here, you can access the country's two most important national parks, Snowdonia and the Brecon Beacons, the latter less than an hour's drive through stunning scenery (while Snowdonia takes a little longer to access, it is also a must-visit). Other great day trips from Cardiff include exploring the beautiful Pembrokeshire coastline and its many pleasant towns, including Carmarthen, the legendary birthplace of Merlin, along with Swansea, one of the busiest cultural centers in the country. Also worth checking out are the many museums dedicated to Wales' industrial past, including the massive Rhondda coal works and the Museum of the Welsh Woolen Industry in Cardigan (and yes, Wales does have a lot of sheep!). Best of all, Wales is such a small country, it's easy to double-up on your day trips, hitting more than one great attraction each time you venture out. Here five day trips from Cardiff, Wales Europe.
1. Brecon Beacons National Park
2. Snowdonia National Park
3. Pembroke Castle and Pembrokeshire Coast National Park
4. Carmarthen and Laugharne
5. Rhondda and Blaenavon: Celebrating Wales' Industrial Heritage

Wales is a country in southwest Great Britain known for its rugged coastline, mountainous national parks, distinctive Welsh language and Celtic culture. Cardiff, the capital, is a refined coastal city with a nightlife scene and a medieval castle with ornate Gothic Revival interiors. In the northwest, Snowdonia National Park has lakes, glacial landforms, hiking trails and a railway up to the peak of Snowdon.
The United Kingdom, made up of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, is an island nation in northwestern Europe. England – birthplace of Shakespeare and The Beatles – is home to the capital, London, a globally influential centre of finance and culture. Pembrokeshire Coast & Carmarthenshire: 10 Great Things To Do
My guide for the best things to do in The Pembrokeshire Coast. The Pembrokshire Coast is a national park in South West Wales, it's full of epic scenery, breath taking coastlines and gorgeous towns, all in such a small area which makes it the perfect place for a holiday! So here is my top 10 places to visit whilst in The Pembrokeshire Coast.
I have recently updated and improved this video, you can watch it here:
There are so many things to do in the Pembrokeshire Coast including the famous town of Tenby from my previous video.
- Watch Tenby Video Here -
Other than Tenby is the town of Laugharne, home to the famous welsh poet Dylan Thomas. As well as as many castles as you could possibly wish for, all from the 11th Century, these norman style castles have been partially restored and are very cheap (and even free) to enter. As well as the smallest city in the UK. You can also catch some Epic Cornwall style waves here, see where the land speed records were set in the 1920's and much more.
Here is the list from the video:
- Visit Tenby
- Walk 5 Mile From Saundersfoot To Tenby
- Visit Laugharne Castle
- Visit The House of Dylan Thomas
- Visit Manorbier Castle
- Viait St. David's (The Smallest City in the UK)
- Surf At Newgale Beach
- Drive Down The Pembrokeshire Coastline
- Visit Pendine Sands
- Visit Llansteffan Castle
I will be making another video soon about the best things to do in Snowdonia and Anglesey as well as more about my full road trip.
- Check out the full 'Perfect Wales Road Trip' playlist here -

Places to see in ( Llandeilo - UK )
Places to see in ( Llandeilo - UK )
Llandeilo is a community and town in Carmarthenshire, Wales, situated at the crossing of the River Towy by the A483 on a 19th-century stone bridge. It is adjacent to the westernmost point of the Brecon Beacons National Park. The town is served by Llandeilo railway station on the Heart of Wales Line.
Llandeilo is named after one of the better-known Celtic saints of the 6th century, Saint Teilo. The Welsh word llan signified a monastery or a church. Saint Teilo, who was a contemporary of Saint David, the patron saint of Wales, established a clas (a small monastic settlement) on the site of the present-day parish church.
Dinefwr Castle (anglicized as Dynevor) is a spectacular Welsh castle overlooking the River Tywi near the town. It lies on a ridge on the northern bank of the Tywi, with a steep drop of about 250 feet (76 m) to the river. Dinefwr was the chief seat of the kingdom of Deheubarth and the seat of Rhys ap Gruffydd, one of the early kings of Wales. The foundations of two castra have been discovered in the grounds of the Dinefwr estate, which is in the custody of the National Trust for Places of Historic Interest or Natural Beauty. The estate of Golden Grove lies near the town, and further away, the impressive Carreg Cennen Castle, another Welsh stronghold. The remains of Talley Abbey can be seen 6 miles (9.7 km) away to the north of the town. 10 miles (16 km) further north are the remains of the Roman Dolaucothi Gold Mines, another National Trust property.
The road and railway bridges over the Tywi are of engineering interest. The single-arched Llandeilo Bridge was completed in 1848 and is Grade II* listed. The railway bridge, opened in 1852, is a rare survival of an early lattice truss bridge. Llandeilo hosted the National Eisteddfod of Wales in 1996, held on the meadow across the river at Ffairfach. The town sign was moved to the far side of the bridge at this time.
( Llandeilo - UK ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting the city of Llandeilo . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Llandeilo - UK

Carmarthen - Town Centre Panorama | Wales | UK - 4k 360°
Carmarthen sits on the banks of the River Tywi, some 8 miles before this beautiful river flows into Carmarthen Bay. Here Wales’ longest river is still tidal, which is why at one time Carmarthen was reputed to be the biggest port in Wales. Over the centuries the river has shaped the story of the town, providing, defence, leisure opportunities and livelihoods. Fishing the Tywi from coracles has happened in Carmarthen since before the Romans came. Now, very few Coracle Fishermen remain but it’s still possible to see them fishing for river trout (sewin) in the traditional Carmarthen coracles. Some say that Carmarthen is the oldest town in Wales, and It has a rich and colourful history. Today Carmarthen remains the County Town and County Hall stands proudly above the River Tywi alongside Carmarthen Castle.

Britain’s currency is the pound sterling (£), which is divided into 100 pence (p).
Scotland has its own pound sterling notes. These represent the same value as an English note and can be used elsewhere in Britain. The Scottish £1 note is not accepted outside Scotland.
There are lots of bureaux de change in Britain – often located inside:
• banks
• travel agents
• Post Offices

• major train stations.
It's worth shopping around to get the best deal and remember to ask how much commission is charged.

Passport And Visas Requirements To Enter The UK
Please note: Following the recent referendum vote for the UK to leave the European Union (EU), there are currently no changes in the way people travel to Britain. The following guidelines still apply:
If you're planning an adventure to the UK, depending on your nationality and your reason for visiting, you may need to organise a visa. If you're an American, Canadian or Australian tourist, you'll be able to travel visa-free throughout the UK, providing you have a valid passport and your reason for visiting meets the immigration rules.
Citizens from some South American and Caribbean countries as well as Japan are also able to travel visa-free around the UK.
European Union citizens, non-EU member states of the EEA (Norway, Liechtenstein and Iceland), Switzerland, and members of the Overseas Countries and Territories (OCT) do not need a visa to enter the UK.
If you have any further visa questions visit the official UK government website.
