Edinburgh is located in the south-east and it’s Scotland’s most beautiful and interesting city. This is the place to take in the unique Scottish culture, with a vibrant pub scene and intriguing historic sites.

Situated approximately 60 miles or 96 kilometers to the west of Edinburgh, Loch Lomond & the Trassachs National Park is the oldest national park in Scotland.

Glencoe Valley is located in the Scottish Highlands in western Scotland. The area is known for its impressive mountain scenery, beautiful waterfalls, and trails that climb steep peaks, such as the Pap of Glencoe.

5. Inverness
Inverness is the northernmost city in the United Kingdom and is regarded as the cultural capital of the Scottish Highlands. Similar to Edinburgh, the city has a fantastic pub scene with great live music in the evenings.
4. Loch Ness
Located only a short drive from Inverness, Loch Ness is one of the most famous places in all of Scotland. The legend of the monster called Nessie goes back to ancient times.
3. Eilean Donan Castle
The Eilean Donan Castle is one of the most photographed castles in the world for a good reason. It’s perfectly situated on a small island with a charming curved bridge connecting it to the mainland.

Kent’s Heritage Coast: The World's 4th BEST region to visit in 2022 according to Lonely Planet.
Kent celebrates international acclaim this week, after the county was placed number four on a list of the world’s best regions to visit in 2022 by Lonely Planet.
This announcement forms part of the global travel authority’s release of Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2022, which unveils its top 10 countries, cities, and regions to visit next year. The county of Kent, often referred to as The Garden of England, is the only UK destination to feature within this year’s illustrious round-up with a particular focus on Kent’s Heritage Coast.
Kent’s Heritage Coast, part of the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), was praised for its commitment to sustainable tourism initiatives, combined with the regeneration of the historic town of Dover, Creative Folkestone, and plans to establish a UNESCO Global Geopark recognised within the region’s entry.
The publisher also highlighted Kent’s involvement in two Interreg funded projects; the EXPERIENCE project, which supports local tourism and hospitality businesses in developing new, low-environmental impact, year-round tourism experiences including accessibility improvements in the Kent countryside. In addition, the UNESCO Sites Across the Channel project aims to boost sustainable development and inclusion through seeking UNESCO designation
Best in Travel 2022 is Lonely Planet’s 17th annual collection of the world’s hottest destinations and the must-have travel experiences for the year ahead. Nominations are received from Lonely Planet’s vast community of staff, writers, and publishing partners, before being whittled down by a panel of travel experts. Each destination is chosen for its topicality, unique experiences, ‘wow’ factor, and ongoing commitment to sustainable tourism practices.
This latest accolade comes at a particularly pertinent time as Kent’s tourism and hospitality sector, worth £4.1 billion to the local economy pre-pandemic, works to rebuild a vibrant and resilient industry for the future.
Visit Kent, the county’s official destination management organisation, will shortly be launching a partnership with AccessAble to continue to improve accessibility across the county. This, along with plans to launch a sustainability pledge encouraging consumers to make small changes whilst visiting the destination, are two examples of the ongoing commitment from Kent’s tourism and hospitality industry to ensure that visitors receive a welcoming, inclusive, and enjoyable experience, whilst ensuring that travellers have a positive impact for the future.
The Kent Downs AONB are supporting new Changing Places toilets in Kent Country Parks so that severely disabled people, their carers, and their families are able to enjoy a day out in the Kent countryside, confident in the knowledge that there is a toilet nearby that will meet their needs. This is part of an ongoing commitment to understanding and addressing the barriers to accessing the countryside and supporting greater inclusion in access so that more people can enjoy the health and wellbeing benefits of nature. The new toilets are funded by the EXPERIENCE project.
The Kent Downs AONB and Visit Kent will soon launch new bookable sustainable rural tourism experiences and itineraries on their website for visitors to explore wellbeing in nature, delicious food and drink, outdoor adventures, transformative pilgrimage, relaxing tranquillity, family fun, and everything in between.

Canterbury is an older residential suburb 10 km east of central Melbourne, noted for spacious residences. It adjoins Camberwell on its east and north, and its early settlement and subdivision into market gardens and orchards accompanied Camberwell's. Canterbury was named after Viscount Canterbury, Governor of Victoria, 1866-73. Before being named Canterbury the area was part of Balwyn.
When the railway was extended from Hawthorn to Camberwell in 1882, and to Canterbury and beyond the following year, residential subdivisions were stimulated. The Canterbury landscape was undulating, elevated to the east and, with the West Creek, pleasantly well watered. The late 1880s saw good land prices and speculative profit. Melbourne merchants and professionals built in Canterbury and commuted by train to Melbourne. By 1891 nearly all of Canterbury was subdivided for housing, but still mostly not built on. A shopping strip was built along Maling Road beside the railway station.
During pre-war years the Canterbury shopping centre was well served by district bus services. By the 1960s the services had diminished, and the Canterbury Road part of the shopping centre was perceived to be a haven for second-hand retailing and therefore in decline. Maling Road was also in the doldrums, but by the 1970s it was undergoing renewal as a destination for gift shops and pleasant eateries. It was later successfully promoted as a tourist destination.
Canterbury's large nineteenth century houses have provided premises for several nursing homes, benevolent organisations and a war time RAAF centre ‘Frognall’, which was returned to private ownerships in the 1990s. Frognall, mansion built in 1889, is heritage-listed. Other heritage buildings are the Shrublands Italianate mansion (1863) in Balwyn Road and a former hotel, Canterbury Mansions, built in 1889 near Maling Road. Not heritage-listed, but well known, is a one time neighbourhood shop used for the popular television series The Sullivans during 1976-83. The shop was in Matlock Street.
In and around Canterbury there are numerous retail and small businesses dealing in home furnishing and decoration, which reflect residents' fascination with keeping the Victorian or Edwardian appearance of their houses and gardens.
