A road trip is the perfect way to explore Tasmania. The distances between key centres are relatively short, the roads are excellent, and you never have to travel too far to see something amazing. To do a rough full circle of Tassie, you’ll need ten to twelve days. That will still see you moving reasonably quickly, but with time to tick off key sights and attractions along the way.

Our list includes the chance to shop up up a storm at Hobart's Salamanca Market, explore the splendour of Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park, cruise the Gordon Wild River, ride the West Coast Wilderness Railway, and get in touch with your inner convict at the Port Arthur Historic Site.
