Amazing trip to North Wales!!

For Easter 2018 we had a great family trip to North Wales. We stayed on the island of Anglesey enjoying the coastal town of Beaumaris, its castle and beach, we even went to see the longest place name in Europe Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.
North Wales is beautiful especially with the beautiful landscapes of Snowdonia.

Wrexham Walk: Town / City Centre【4K】

Situated in North Wales just over the border from England is the town of Wrexham (or Wrecsam in Welsh).

The town is part of the county of Clwyd (though historically part of Denbighshire). Its early history is hard to pinpoint, although there was Roman activity in the nearby area of Plas Coch from as early as 43 AD. Following the end of Roman rule in Britain it became part of the Kingdom of Powys.

St Giles' Church, seen towards the middle of the video, was built between the late 15th and early 16th century. In addition to holding Grade I Listed status, it is considered to be one of the Seven Wonders of Wales.

The town played a key role in the Industrial Revolution owing to coal, iron and lead mining. Its location was key to its growth as a market town, effectively acting as a crossroads between Wales and England.

#GreenfieldValleyHeritageParkHolywell
#BasingwerkAbbey
#StWinefridesWell
#LearnWelshWithAnna
#FXWalesAnnaAndAlf

Join Anna and Alf today as they visit GREENFIELD VALLEY HERITAGE PARK in HOLYWELL, NORTH WALES UK as Anna teaches about its 2000 YEARS OF HISTORY including what happened at BASINGWERK ABBEY and how GREENFIELD VALLEY'S history literally springs from ST WINEFRIDE'S WELL our previous video .
LINK TO OUR VIDEO OF ST WINEFRIDE'S WELL -

ST WINEFRIDE'S WELL was vital to the industry, agriculture and the daily lives of the people here.
HERE ALSO HAD THE STEEPEST PASSENGER RAILWAY IN GREAT BRITAIN
The earliest evidence for occupation in this area is from ROMAN POTTERY FOUND.

By EARLY MEDIEVAL TIMES the valley had grown in importance as part of a boundary with the English Kingdoms, the earliest of which is a section of WAT'S DYKE ( A defensive ditch to mark the boundary in the 8TH CENTURY )
A church was probably built around 1093 and a castle in which HENRY 11 of England took refuge in while visiting ST WINEFRIDE'S WELL.

By the end of the 16th century HOLYWELL WAS THE LARGEST TOWN IN NORTH EAST WALES with small industries being introduced and Anna teaches all about the industry that was here until the doors closed in the 1980s .

Offa's Dyke Path N-S Part 1 of 2

In June 2022, the start of the heatwave, I walked the Offa's Dyke Path. It's a lovely green country path and the dyke is with you most of the way.
I did it north to south because there were train strikes, so I would be nearer home at the end. It turned out fine except having to read the guide book in reverse!
My new Inov8 boots' heels deteriorated through the hike, causing a twisted ankle and bruised heels - a first time experience, so I returned them for a refund at the end.
Part 1 starts at Prestatyn and takes me to Mellington Hall, almost the halfway point.
