Broken Hill in far west New South Wales was founded in the 1880s and is best known for its mining heritage. It's the only Australian city or town to date to have been inscribed on the National Heritage List in its entirety, and is home to stunning period architecture.
In this episode of our online travel series we bring you a checklist of ten amazing things to do in Broken Hill and the nearby town of Silverton. These quintessential experiences should be on the radar of every first-time visitor. We pound the pavement on a guided heritage walking tour, visit the emotive Line of Lode Miners Memorial, drop by the multi-muralled Palace Hotel (which featured in the hit Aussie film The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert), sample some outback moonshine at the Broken Hill Distillery, see the Living Desert Sculptures shine at sunset, and much more.

Broken Hill - the NSW town that's kind-of South Australian and the Menindee Lakes
Heading south from Tibooburra, we reach the town of Broken Hill. Although it's in New South Wales, a lot of things about it are quite South Australian - but why could that be?
We visit the Albert Kersten Mining and Minerals Museum (who was Albert Kersten anyway?), try and fail to go on a mine tour, then tour the Living Desert State Park with its Cultural Hike and sculptures.
After that, we camp at the Burke and Wills campsite in Medindee - spotting an interesting piece of local wildlife.
And then I briefly* recount the Burke and Wills expedition. (* - ok, it's half the video).
Best things to do in Broken Hill - Scenic Flights
One of the best things to do in #BrokenHill is a scenic flight adventure. In this video we'll take you through the challenging experience on how to find Hangar 33 and how to book the tour. We have included a cost summary of all the flights that they have available. Next up we are in the air and I must add it's absolutely sensational. Great views of Broken Hill and the surrounding landscape.

Discovering the Hidden Gems of Central Coast NSW 2023 | Things To Do, Places To Visit 🏖🏄♂️
What’s in the central coast? Why people love to spend the weekend in Central Coast? In this video, I am going to take you there to discover the hidden gems of Central Coast NSW, and to check out a beach house with ocean views, crown plaza hotel in Terrigal, beautiful beaches, where to find some delicious foods, and where is this beautiful historical look out. Let’s get started.
There are lot of people moving up to Central Coast due to Sydney housing market is out of reach. And the houses here are relatively cheaper than Sydney, and some have ocean views. We went pass a house up for sale at Umina Beach, asking for $1.5m. It’s on top of the hill, so it has this immense ocean views. It’s a beautiful 3 bed room house with a swimming pool.
We stayed at the Crown Plaza hotel at Terrigal. Terrigal is a major coastal town of Central Coast. Terrigal is a very popular tourist destination with its long stretchy beach, urban and modern living environment. The crown plaza hotel is sitting right in front of the beach, and it certainly becomes my favourite hotel in central coast region.
The hotel feels nice, but it’s a bit dated and looking a bit old. The room rate is $300 per night on week days, and it can go up to $600 per night during the weekend.
Breakfast time is the best experience of our stay, the restaurant is facing east and the pacific ocean, so in the morning the restaurant is filled with morning sunshine, bright and lively.
Breakfast is included in our stay. Otherwise it will cost you $42 per person. The selections are good, lot of varieties, and they taste good.
We had a lunch at Beach House, a modern restaurant located right underneath the Crown Plaza, and right in front of the beach, so it has this beautiful ocean views, plus its delicious menu, combined with vibrant atmosphere, and a live band, we had a good time.
Copacabana beach is only 15 mins drive down south from Terrigal, this area is a bit more quiet and more family friendly. Most of the hoses have ocean views, so you can imagine the price here for a house – it’s easily over $2m. There are only 3000 people living in Copacabana beach, and mostly are local Australians.
5 mins drive, on top of the hill of Copacabana beach, it’s the very famous Winney look out and Captain Cook look out. The views are breathtaking and it’s just unbelievable. A must visit.
If you haven’t been to Avoca Beach, you haven’t been to Central Coast. There are 5000 people living here, and it’s a great place for the surfers, and they also hold annual surfing competition here.
We went to this beautiful restaurant in front of the Avoca beach. The restaurant looks very nice, but the waitress seems like she doesn’t want to be here. Not much services.
There is one regret for this trip – is that we didn’t have enough time to go for a walk in Bouddi Coastal Walk. It’s 8 and half kms long, I can imagine the spectacular ocean view along the walk way.
So there you go, whether you are a sun lover, beach lover, foodie lover, or adventure seeker, there are something for you in central coast. So go out, and enjoy a weekend like we did.
Music is one important part of my vlog. I found this artist 'Hotham' is very talented, and he has made so many beautiful music pieces. So search Hotham in Youtube, subscribe to his channel, and enjoy.

Broken Hill Mine - Best Photo Spot
Broken Hill Mine - Best Photo Spot. After spending a week in Broken Hill we noticed that every artist and gallery had this iconic painting of a Broken Hill mine head. So we did some research and found the old abandoned Brownes Shaft at Junction Mine. This isn't an all day tour, but if you want the best photo spot I would recommend going up there just before sunset. The other benefit is that it is only a five minute drive down the main street, turn right at the garage onto Menindee Road and then turn left at the sign for Junction Mine.

Broken Hill Restaurants
Broken Hill Restaurants is about four of the restaurants that we visited in our week's stay in #BrokenHill. We give a basic idea of the price for a meal at each of the restaurants. Starting at #SillyGoatCafe which we highly recommend, it was a trendy little joint in Argent St. Next we visited the #AstraHotel for lunch and we really loved the fresh, homemade food on offer. #BellsMilkBar is a must see as it represents the milk bars of years gone by. Surprisingly it is not in the main street, but rather in South Broken Hill. We went to the Palace Hotel for dinner and found the decor to be typical of Broken Hill with artwork everywhere.
