🇸🇮 Slovenia day trips - Waterfall Orglice [Slap Orglice] near Velika Planina Kamnik city
Slovenia day Trips is a series of videos that I will do when I am at home and not travelling for a longer period, but It is just day trips.
In this first episode I visit the Waterfall Orglice - Slap Orglice, which is located in Kamnik Alps near to Slovenia's capital Ljubljana (38 km away). It is located under a mountain called Velika Planina which is a well known tourist spot of Slovenia.

Route Description
Kamniška Bela is a beautiful stream that flows into the Kamniška Bistrica River. It is here that nature formed an interesting waterfall called Orglice. Due to its easy access and beautiful surroundings, this is a very popular location for family trips.
Follow the Strahovica road sign from Kamnik and turn left into the Kamniška Bistrica Valley. Drive for a few more kilometers and pass by the Velika Planina cable car. After about 2 kilometers (1.4 miles), you will see a signpost for the Orglice Waterfall and a small parking lot where you can leave your car. There is another parking lot further down the road from the cable car. It has a well-marked board with SLAP ORGLICE written on it, so you will not miss it. There is more than enough space for several vehicles.
A wide forest path branches off soon and it is marked all the way to the waterfall. Simply follow the trail that runs along the Kamniška Bela Stream and after half an hour of walking, you will reach a crossroads. You can continue straight on to the Orglice Waterfall or you can turn left towards an interesting partisan hospital. We decided to visit the grave of a fallen American war pilot, then the place where the Bela Partisan Hospital once stood and a little further on the smaller (but also beautiful) Bela Waterfall, which is located only 20 meters (21 yards) from the hospital. A narrow path led us straight to the burial site of the American pilot, lieutenant Otto Hinnds. The information booklets are very thorough and you can read all you need to know about the sights. We really recommend going on this trip, as the trail is not demanding and not too long. The children will have a blast listening to all the interesting information, looking for imaginary pixies and finding a mushroom or two!
We climbed past the grave towards the neatly arranged remains of the partisan hospital. There is also a box with a registration book to sign on the spot, and several informative booklets. They describe Lieutenant Otto and all the others who fought for this hospital in detail.
The pilot actually flew one of the largest American fighter jets at the time. The BOEING B-17 bomber, then called the Flying Fortress, had room for 10 crewmembers. During a war mission, the plane crashed into the Mala Planina Hill. The locals found Lieutenant Otto and carried him to the partisan hospital, where he sadly died. They buried him in Slovene language without a priest.
Head BACK from the hospital to the sign (on the tree) pointing towards the Orglice Waterfall. In 15 minutes, you arrive at your destination.
The Orglice Waterfall is an approximately 40 meter (131 feet) high waterfall in the side valley of the Kamniška Bela Stream, a left tributary of the Kamniška Bistrica River. You can visit it in all seasons, but when we were there, it had little water and our photos do not do it justice. We will definitely return in the springtime, when the water flow is stronger. The trip itself is easy and suitable for younger children, however, since they need a bit of stamina, we recommend they are aged 3 and above.
Interesting Facts
They say that a visit to the Orglice Waterfall in winter is a must. When the icy temperatures freeze the water, the waterfall takes the shape of a harmonica. According to some rumours, when the water flow is at its greatest, it makes the sound of someone playing a harmonica. Well, if there is enough rainfall of course. Still, we were amazed by the magnificent appearance of this natural wonder.

Celje is the third-largest city in Slovenia. It is a regional center of the traditional Slovenian region of Styria and the administrative seat of the City Municipality of Celje (Slovene: Mestna občina Celje). The town of Celje is located below Upper Celje Castle (407 m or 1,335 ft) at the confluence of the Savinja, Hudinja, Ložnica, and Voglajna rivers in the lower Savinja Valley, and at the crossing of the roads connecting Ljubljana, Maribor, Velenje, and the Central Sava Valley. It lies 238 m (781 ft) above mean sea level (MSL).

Še nekaj znamenitosti o Celju: Celje je mesto in sedež mestne občine Celje v Republiki Sloveniji, ki leži ob sotočju rek Savinje in Voglajne v Spodnji Savinjski dolini oz. Celjski kotlini in je središče savinjske statistične regije. Srednja nadmorska višina mesta je 238 m. Z 38.079 prebivalci (leta 2017) je tretje največje slovensko mesto (tik pred Kranjem) in je zlasti po zgodovinskem pomenu prav tako eno od najpomembnejših slovenskih središč.
V Celju je sedež enega izmed štirih višjih sodišč v Sloveniji, rimskokatoliške škofije (od 2006), Slovenskega ljudskega gledališča, splošne bolnišnice, osrednje knjižnice, pokrajinskega muzeja, muzeja novejše zgodovine, zgodovinskega arhiva, Hiše Kulture ter več galerij. V Celju je sedež založbe Mohorjeva družba, za umetnostni razvoj mesta pa skrbi Zavod Celeia. Celje je tudi pomembno sejemsko in prireditveno mesto.
Mesto ima tudi več gimnazij, srednjih, višjih in visokih šol ter največji šolski center v Sloveniji.
V Celju je močno razvit šport, saj je tradicionalno najpomembnejše atletsko središče v državi s prvim samostojnim atletskim klubom z lastnim stadionom, v športni Dvorano Zlatorog pa domuje Rokometni klub Celje s »celjsko rokometno šolo«.
Največja znamenitost je Stari grad Celje, ki se prvič omenja leta 1322 in je bil sedež Celjskih grofov, najvplivnejše plemiške rodbine na Slovenskem. Z njihovega grba izhaja današnji celjski grb - tri zlate šestkrake zvezde na modrem ščitu, ki so bile vključene tudi v nov slovenski grb. Mestu je Oto Pestner posvetil pesem Dober dan, knežje mesto.
Medija regionalnega pomena sta Novi tednik in Radio Celje, združena v Nt&Rc, celjsko podjetje za časopisno in radijsko dejavnost.
Liberalno celjsko glasilo Nova doba je izhajalo v letih 1919-41 in 1990-95.

To je ujedno i najveće pastirsko naselje u Europi sa 140 koliba. Do same planine možete žičarom čija se polazna točka nalazi u dolini Kamniške Bistrice uz kamp Alpe, a možete i pješice, dolje imate rutu po kojoj smo mi uživali u predivnoj prirodi ⏬

Camping Podgrad - Vransko - Slovenia
- Camping Podgrad Vransko is newly opened campsite located on the edge of town Vransko in Savinjska valley, that is well know for hops and beer.
Campsite Podgrad is modern smaller camping, opened all year long. It offers 12 arranged camping pitches (10 x 8 meters large), equipped with water and electricity. Pitches are arranged for campers and caravans, while for campers with tent they suggest pitches on a meadow that is arranged in vicinity of pond where you can bathe in summer.
Guests who do not have their own camping equipment, could sleep in nicely decorated wooden glamping hut for 2 persons.
Camping Podgrad Vransko has nice sanitary facilities with showers, toilets and places for washing the dishes. Additionally, there is camper supply station, grills, refrigerators and free access to wireless internet at the reception. Access to internet at the pitches is payable.
Location of new campsite is great for hiking and cycling around, only 500m away is museum of motobikes Grom, while museum of hops and beer fountain are in Zalec (cca 20 km away). A climbing wall is arranged in old quarry, while some good restaurants are located near by - Grof, Golobcek, Soferska mamica, where you can taste Slovenian traditional dishes.
