Dusseldorf, city, capital of North Rhine–Westphalia Land, western Germany. It lies mainly on the right bank of the Rhine River, 21 miles northwest of Cologne. It is the administrative and cultural centre of the industrial Rhine-Ruhr area.
First mentioned in 1159, Düsseldorf was chartered in 1288 by the count of Berg and was the capital of the duchies of Berg and Jülich from 1511 until it passed to the Palatinate-Neuberg line in 1609. Although the town suffered considerably in the Thirty Years' War and the War of the Spanish Succession, it revived under the elector palatine Johann Wilhelm II. After being the capital of the short-lived Napoleonic grand duchy of Berg, the town passed to Prussia in 1815. Rapid commercial and economic growth followed the establishment of iron and steel industries in the 1870s. After the widespread devastation suffered during World War II, many of the city's old buildings were repaired and many new buildings erected.
Dusseldorf has three harbours on the Rhine and one of Germany's busiest civil airfields at Lohausen. The city is a banking and wholesale centre and is the administrative seat of many of the Ruhr's businesses. Its industries include iron, steel, chemicals, glass, and textiles.

Wiesbaden is a city in the western German state of Hesse. Its neoclassical Kurhaus now houses a convention center and a casino. The Kurpark is an English-style landscaped garden designed in 1852. The red, neo-Gothic Market Church on Schlossplatz is flanked by the neoclassical City Palace, seat of State Parliament. Wiesbaden is one of the oldest spa towns in Europe. Its name translates to meadow baths, making reference to the hot springs. Wiesbaden is internationally famous for its architecture, climate (also called the Nice of the North), and its hot springs. At one time, Wiesbaden boasted 26 hot springs. Fourteen of the springs are still flowing today. In 1970, the town of Wiesbaden hosted the tenth Hessentag state festival.
Wiesbaden has long been famous for its thermal springs and spa. Use of the thermal springs was first documented by the Romans. The business of spring bathing became important for Wiesbaden near the end of the Middle Ages. Wiesbaden is well connected to the German motorway (Autobahn) system. The Wiesbadener Kreuz is an Autobahn interchange eastwards the city where the Bundesautobahn 3 (A 3), Cologne to Würzburg, and the Bundesautobahn 66 (A 66), Rheingau to Fulda, meet. Düsseldorf is the capital city of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and a city on the Rhine River in western Germany. With a population of 620,000 residents, it is one of the country's economic! centers and a central city within the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan! region. Kö-Bogen II: Europe's largest Green Facade in #Düsseldorf, #Germany by Ingenhoven Architects
Read more: The KII commercial and office building ensemble constitutes an outstanding redefinition of the heart of Düsseldorf and serves the function of a link between the exclusive Königs-Allee and the Schadow-Strasse shopping precinct. CENTRUM Group, B&L Group and ingenhoven architects have dissolved the uniformity of classical commercial buildings and here made the implementation of modern shopping and office concepts possible. Moreover they have been able to prove that highest architectonic demands and the application of first class materials can be harmonised with the benefits for climate and environment. This vision is already reality today and sets a new standard for the development of mixed-use buildings, combining ecology, economy, innovation and sustainability, beyond Düsseldorf and Germany. This excellently achieved urbane city repair includes the inseparable greening concept, as well as the location of the car parking underground, in order to recover attractive open space for people. KII is an aesthetic and functional lighthouse project for improvement of inner-city living, working, and recreational quality.
[4K] Walk in Düsseldorf Germany - Along the KÖ Bogen 2 Area Summer 2020
This video tour in Düsseldorf Germany offers a great way to enjoy a walk and Düsseldorf city's beautiful ambience along the newly designed KÖ Bogen 2 shopping area on a cloudy summer day in July 2020 after the reopening of many businesses in the end of April.

In 2009, the ground-breaking ceremony for the large-scale urban planning project Kö-Bogen took place, in 2019 the last construction phase, the so-called Kö-Bogen 2, is about to be completed. The square between the Düsseldorf Schauspielhaus (theatre) and Schadowstrasse was redesigned by the renowned Düsseldorf architectural firm Ingenhoven, known for its sustainable and close to nature projects. A market hall with a transitable, green roof, modelled after the New York Lincoln Centre, faces a block of buildings with a stepped wall, planted with eight kilometres of beech hedges. The unobstructed view of the Düsseldorf Schauspielhaus (theatre) should be largely preserved. Düsseldorf is the capital and second-largest city of the most populous German state of North Rhine-Westphalia(in Western Germany) after Cologne, and the seventh-largest city in Germany, with a population of 617,280.
I am starting this walk close to Heinrich-Heine Allee Station then taking a quick stroll to the Kö Bogen. Right afterwards I am walking along the Kö Bogen 2 and follow the shopping street until I reach the St. Mariä Empfängnis church. I hope you can relax and enjoy this beautiful walking tour in Düsseldorf (Western Germany) on a cloudy summer day.

In Düsseldorf you can feel the rhythm of the big city. Hustle streets and crowded road crossings but at the same time you have got the feeling of tranquility and lightness. The reason is modern minimalistic architecture combined with historical buildings. All this mix shows unique atmosphere of this city.
