Here I present an album of photographs of the Russian city of Tambov, the provincial capital of the province bearing the same name. The city lies some 480 km (300 ml) south-south-east of Moscow at the confluence pf the Tsna and Studenets Rivers. Tambov was founded by the decree of Tsar Mikhail Fyodorovich on April 17, 1636. Originally, the city was a border fortress against attacks by the Crimean Tatars, but it soon declined in importance as a military outpost..........

Приятное путешествие по глубике мтраны, а именно север тверской области. Где располгаются эти старинные места. К сожалению практически везде видна разруха и реально дороги убивают автомобили. А вот история связывает прошлое с настоящим у нас мгновенно по разссказу экскурсовода. Имена этих мест: граф А. А. Аракчеев, Анна Ахматова, Никоовй Гумилёв их сын Иван Гумилёв и другие. Реально красиво смотрятся дома на фотографиях и в видео, правда летом думаю тут быть приятнее.
A pleasant journey through the depths of the country, namely the north of the Tver region. Where are these ancient places located? The names of these places: Count A. A. Arakcheev, Anna Akhmatova, Nikoov Gumilyov, their son Ivan Gumilyov and others. The houses look really beautiful in the photographs and in the video, though in the summer I think it’s more pleasant to be here.

Here I present an album of photographs of the Russian Imperial city of Tsaritsyn that lies on the River Volga. The city was renamed Stalingrad after Joseph Stalin on April 10, 1925. This was officially to recognize the city's and Stalin's role in its defense against the Whites between 1918 and 1920. Under Stalin, the city became a center of heavy industry and transshipment by rail and river. The city became famous for its resistance — and the extensive physical damage and death toll it suffered — during the Battle of Stalingrad against the German Army in The Great Patriotic War.
In 1945 the Soviet Union awarded Stalingrad the title Hero City for its resistance. Great Britain's King George VI awarded the citizens of Stalingrad the jeweled Sword of Stalingrad in recognition of their bravery. In 1961, Nikita Khrushchev's administration changed the name of the city to Volgograd (Volga City) as part of his programme of de-Stalinization. Beginning in 2013, for nine days every year, the city may be officially referred to as Stalingrad.........
Today, the city has been entirely rebuilt with a fine promenade overlooking the River Volga, broad tree-lined avenues and a most remarkable memorial to the city's war-time resistance . I like it a lot.

Pre-revolutionary Russia in photographs Arzamas by Maxim Dmitriev Here I present an album of photographs of the city of Arzamas in the district of Nizhny Novgord. Arzamas was founded in 1578 by Ivan the Terrible in the lands populated at the time by Mordvins. By 1737, more than 7,000 people lived in Arzamas and the town became a major transit center on the route from Moscow to eastern parts of Russia. It was known for its geese and onions as well as leather crafts.
Catherine the Great in 1781 granted town status to Arzamas and a coat of arms based on the colours of the Arzamas regiment. In the early 19th century, Arzamas had over twenty churches and cathedrals, the foremost being the Resurrection Cathedral. It was built in the Empire style to commemorate the Russian victory over Napoleon in 1812. Alexander Stupin the Russian painter and art teacher founded and led the Alexander Stupin Art School between 1802 and 1862 and many famous Russian artists studied there, including Vasily Perov.
